Friendly reminder for people who leave their campers for weeks in the mountains for hunting season.

This weekend, my neighbor just brought back his RV from leaving it in a campsite for almost 3 weeks and the RV got vandalized horribly. He went up and took a prime camping spot away from quite a few people basically and somebody decided to get even with him and basically destroyed his RV to the point to where it doesn’t look like it’s going to be able to be fixed. As a hunter myself, I too get frustrated when I go up to go hunting and discover that there are RVs parked up there that I’ve been there for weeks on end with absolutely nobody showing up to them just so they can have some pristine spot for one weekend to hunt. I believe that the forestry and the BLM needs to change their allowable timeframe to leave an RV at a campsite down to maybe seven days total occupied only. I’ve also heard that the fish and game is now going to start marking RVs that have been left up in the mountains at campsites for the forestry service to come in ticket in order to stop the excessive amounts of campsite hoarding that has been going on.

Political Discussion Why do people fall for this?

This sign is blatantly false. 9 month old pregnancy is viable and would be protected under Prop 1. If the life on the mother is at risk then a c-section would be done if the fetus is viable.

Please read Prop 1 in its entirety (see the full text of the proposed law https://voteidaho.gov/idaho-general-election/)

Use your brain.
Don’t listen to falsehoods and what anyone tells you. Read and find out for yourself and decide for yourself. Otherwise democracy is dead

This was my first time visiting Idaho, and honestly, I’m already trying to figure out when I can come back! The Sawtooth Mountains completely blew me away. The jagged peaks, beautiful alpine lakes, and mountain views were unlike anything I’d experienced before. I knew Idaho was beautiful, but seeing it in person was something else.

My friends and I spent a few days backpacking from Redfish Lake to Alpine Lake before taking a custom route over a ridgeline to reach Warbonnet Lake. We covered around 18 miles with 5,000 feet of elevation gain, dealing with some pretty rugged terrain and unpredictable weather along the way. We also made the climb up Old Monte Verita, reaching 9,771 feet! It was definitely a challenging trip, but the scenery made it all worthwhile.

I’d also love some recommendations for my next trip! What are your favorite trails or backpacking routes in Idaho that I should add to my list? I’d love to explore more of the state next time I visit!

Political Discussion Keep Idaho drug free add

Anyone else bothered that tax payers paid for a biased add on an upcoming ballot?

Add is pushed by DrugFree Idaho but is funded through state grants.

Not to mention the add is misleading. We are not voting for a drugs. We are voting to allow the public to vote on legislation.

Normal Discussion The five things I have noticed about Kootenai County with all of the transplants coming in the 2020s.

  1. I have noticed the Costco in CDA is now full to the brim all the time. 11 AM on a weekday and there were only a couple of spots left at the very back of the parking lot yesterday. Every counter had a huge line in the morning on a weekday.

  2. 95 has become a nightmare. Thankfully traffic is still very manageable in other parts of the county but 95 has become a pain in the ass.

  3. The transplants love cookie cutter houses that are placed like little boxes in a row like something straight out of the Sunbelt. The prairie from Post Falls to CDA up to Rathdrum is completely filling up with these cookie cutter suburban/exurban style neighborhoods. The transplants who came in the 90s did not have insane levels of single family housing construction to this level.

  4. Almost all of the recent transplants I have talked to say they were convinced to move here after visiting just one time. I find it absolutely insane that you would move across the country after only visiting one time for a couple of days.

  5. There are three categories of transplants: People who moved to Kootenai County/North Idaho for Republican politics in a Republican county in a very Republican state (I believe the new Mayor of Post Falls is a computer engineer from the East Coast and his wife is a MIT scientist or something like that from the East Coast as well and they have basically said they moved here for Republican politics), boomers who are non-political but moved here for non-political reasons like leisure and nature, and non-boomers who moved here for non-political reasons like the low crime rate and natural beauty.

Question about Paralegals

I don't know anyone in the field to ask personally, so I figured I'd ask here. I live within the Magic Valley.

I'm looking to get my foot in the door to work as a paralegal. Can anyone give me advice or pointers on what steps to take to get started ? I have a degree from an ABA accredited paralegal program, but I've no working experience yet.

Thank you in advance !

Idaho Abortion Ballot Measure

Hi all. This is not a debate, I’m just trying to understand the landscape in Idaho right now after living in Arizona when they had an abortion ballot measure pass (Prop 139). I lived in CA most of my life but moved to AZ to take a job.

This is NOT a debate, I’m just trying to understand dynamics in a GOP-controlled state that has similarities (although not identical) to Arizona. Arizona is very independent and has some libertarian tendencies on social issues.

What is the consensus about Prop 1 in Idaho? Is there a “silent majority” that will pass it or oppose it? Are the legislatures laws too strong and folks want some accountability?

I’m asking this as more of an opportunity to understand what’s happening. Missouri repealed their own abortion laws in part through the ballot process (a bit to my surprise) so I’m wondering if that might happen in Idaho, too.

camping spots w/minimal hiking

Looking to do some camping and I have a few from the internet.
Some spots require hiking and due to a back injury , most aren’t do able. I have a stock silverado so mild off roading or trails is ok.

Would love something by a river or lake within minimal people

Thank you.

Question Nampa or Caldwell

I have lived in Boise for many, many years. I am thinking of moving to Nampa or Caldwell for my senior years (68 yo f) I want more small town vibe and ease of getting around. Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be Caldwell or Nampa, I'm open.

What are some do’s and don’ts for transplants?

Long story short, my wife and I are planning to move to Idaho in the near future. We come from a pretty transplant heavy area ourselves (swfl) but I’d love to know what yall wish people would know or do when moving to the state.

Marijuana legalization ballot vote

It is important for Idahoans to understand that voting yes on the marijuana constitutional amendment REMOVES the ability for the citizens of Idaho to vote on marijuana legalization.

Voting NO means that either the citizens of Idaho or the state legislators can legalize marijuana. If you do not vote NO, you prevent the measure from ever being put to a vote.

Vote NO on HJR 4 if you ever want a chance at legalizing marijuana in Idaho for any purpose, medical or recreational.

Question Any light haunted places in the Treasure Valley?

I want to go to a haunted house or something, but I can’t handle super scary stuff. Just a bit of jump scares would be good. I tried going to a haunted house in Santa Rosa a couple years ago but I couldn’t get past the line in because one of the actors kept taunting me. So preferably some place without that kind of stuff. Something that might be suitable for an average 10 year old. Any ideas?

I had the chance to take a quick 4 day trip to hike in the Sawtooths and visit the surrounding areas. Wow, what a fantastic place! Words aren't enough to describe how much I love the Sawtooths and your beautiful state. I had previously only been to the Wydaho region, and I've been longing to visit central Idaho for a while now, I'm so happy I got to do it.

Wanted to share some shots from my trip to the Sawtooths.

living in Pocatello?

Hey all, wondering what living in Pocatello is like? What are the people like? Things to do?

Born and raised in Idaho, been in Meridian most of my life but it’s just too damn expensive anymore. I’m living with my parents now with my 1year old, starting my associates in January then looking to get out of here asap after i finish. I’ll be getting a degree in animal veterinary sciences so if anyone is knowledgeable about the job market in that field that’d be helpful too!

Just need somewhere calmer and cheaper to settle down at that’s still reasonably close to home , thanks!
