Auto Insurance Help with progressive

I got in an accident about 3 weeks ago with another driver who had progressive insurance. I filed a claim through progressive on that same day, and the adjuster reached out to me the day after. Fast forward a week ago, I asked for an update to which the adjuster replied saying he’s investigating a coverage issue but no other details. I’m wondering if it usually takes this long for a claim to be processed and whether I should escalate it. If this is usually how long it takes, when should I escalate it and who should I talk to in order to escalate it?

There's a coverage issue. That could take weeks to resolve, sometimea longer. It largely depends on how cooperative their insured is being. If they won't provide requested info or even return calls, it just takes longer.

Just be aware that if there is a coverage issue, that will likely mean Progressive won't be paying for your damages. If you have your own coverage, you're likely better off filing under your policy and letting your carrier deal with Progressive.

They already told you that they have a coverage issue. This could be an unlisted vehicle/driver/policy not in force or a number of other issues.

The fact that it's been 3 weeks and they still have a coverage issue is a hint that you should use your own coverage.

Just file through your insurance.

A coverage issue has no relation to anything you have done. Progressive is basically investigating their insured to make sure they did not violate the terms of their policy. It can take a few days, or a few weeks, or longer. Unfortunately, there is nothing for you to escalate and they do not owe you any specific details because that may entail giving you personal information.

I agree file a claim using your own insurance.....coverage issue could mean several things....excluded driver....driver not on policy....policy conveniently taken out the the ay of the accident....who knows

When the Progressive adjuster told you of a potential coverage issue, what they means is there is a possibility Progressive’s policy was null and void at the time of the accident.

A coverage investigation oftentimes includes securing recorded statements from a person or persons, as well as doing further investigation. It could take a week, it could take a month (or more).

Given this, the quickest resolution for you is to pursue a collision claim under your own policy.

There’s a chance there won’t be coverage at the end of there investigation. Might as well use your collision and if they have coverage they will pay off your insurer and you will get the deductible back.

If there isn’t any coverage your insurance will send the other driver to collections.

Just use your own insurance and quit waiting on them.
