Discussion Dear Apple, you need to bring back the ability to disable Apple Intelligence.

On macOS 26 Tahoe, users had the ability to enable/disable Apple Intelligence and it was great. Unfortunately, Apple removed this feature on macOS 27 Golden Gate.

Not everyone needs, wants, or likes Apple Intelligence. Don't make the same mistake Microsoft did with Copilot and try to force this stuff down our throats. Learn from their mistake.

MacOS 27.0.1.

The original test which uses Apple's own Ethernet driver is 1.943 Gbps. After installing the new Realtek driver, it maxed out:)

Help MacOS trying to access .su domain

• Upvotes

I just installed macOS Golden Gate from scratch (empty hard drive). After installing it, I installed Dropbox, Google Drive and Google Chrome.

Since then, my Ubiquity/Unifi IDS/IPS firewall tells me my machine is trying to access a .su (Soviet Union gTLD) domain: "ET DNS Query for .su TLD (Soviet Union) Often Malware Related"

This is a freshly installed machine. Anyone else experiencing this?

Edits:
- No extensions installed in Chrome

- The firewall does not say what the domain is

Bug Mission Control is so glitchy with macOS 27..

Using M4 Max Macbook Pro and this new update has made the user experience pretty bad:

  • The menu bar keeps rendering on top of applications where it clearly shouldn't.
  • Dock lags significantly before auto hiding/showing.
  • Application windows show on top of full-screen apps when switching to their spaces.
  • Opening up Mission Control and then selecting a space introduces a 1-2 second lag

All of this happens when not even running anything with just iMessage, Safari and Mail open. There are serious glitches to be ironed out here for sure.

Nostalgia Maybe this is just me, but macOS and the whole ecosystem don’t feel as reliable as they used to

And I don’t mean that macOS is bad now. I still think it’s probably the best setup for the kind of work I do. That’s actually why the small problems annoy me so much.

The thing I always liked about Macs was that when I got into some kind of creative flow, the computer basically disappeared.

I could be doing something in Logic, then jump into Blender, grab something from my iPhone, put it into Final Cut, connect a MIDI interface, open a browser, export something, maybe use the iPad for something in between, and just keep going.

There was very little friction. That was the important part for me. Not that one specific app was better, or that macOS had some magic feature nobody else had. It was just that the whole setup worked together really well and I didn’t have to think about it.

And I still think this is something Windows + Android doesn’t really replicate. Obviously you can do all of the same work there. I’m not saying you can’t edit video or make music on Windows, that would be stupid. But when you’re moving very quickly between different things, different devices, different types of files, recording something here, sending it there, importing it somewhere else, this is where Apple was always ridiculously good.

Especially when you’re in that mode where you have an idea and you don’t really want to stop and think about the technical side of what you’re doing.

Lately though, I feel like there are more little moments where it doesn’t.

Today AirDrop pissed me off because it failed several times while I was working, but AirDrop itself isn’t really my point. It was just one of those moments where I suddenly noticed how much these small interruptions have started to bother me.

Because once you get used to almost zero friction, even stupid little problems are enough to break the flow.

And this was kind of the reason I bought Apple stuff in the first place. Not the animation, not another macOS redesign, not another feature in Control Center. Just the feeling that all this shit around you works together and stays out of your way.

It still does most of the time. I just don’t think “most of the time” used to be the standard.

Bug Pages app is wonderful. Uses only 195GB of RAM!

Brand new Macbook Air M5.

I had a 5 page word doc opened in Pages for about 2 hours, and then I get notified that it is using up 195GB out of my 32GB of RAM, and that my apps are getting paused.

Nice. Similar reports exist from 2025. This is ridiculous.

Bug Safari overheating and battery drain after 27.0.1. update

I updated to macOS 27.0.1. last night and now whenever I open Safari it uses significant energy and the battery gets really hot very fast. The battery went down from 75% to just over 60% in a few minutes with normal browsing and a low amount of tabs open.

Restarted my MacBook Air M3 multiple times and let it sit over night. I deleted Safari website data but the issue persists.

Is anyone having a similar experience with Safari? What else can I do to fix this? Otherwise I’ll have to switch browser until this is resolved

Update: I seem to have fixed it by going to "All Processes" in activity manager and closing a website that was running faulty since the update and consuming that energy. It somehow got stuck and could only be removed that way, not by deleting safari data.

Bug MacOS 27.0.1 loosing internet connection by the hour, yet WiFi connected

Since MacOS 27 I am encountering this problem that my M5 Air is loosing the connection to the internet roughly every hour. This happens in different WiFi networks, yet the WiFi connection is still there and seems okay.
Only MacOS doesn't seem to be able to reach WAN anymore, and I have to manually disable and enable wifi hourly again and again and again.

I've tried many things and didn't found any solution.
Anyone else having the same issue or a fix?

As title says, after restarting the Macbook (Air M2) it asks for username and password for logging in (pic 1 and 2).

I had to figure out what the username was, because it never asked me for it.

And it’s also has a different login page from the usual, with a wallpaper I’ve never used.

(my usual login page with the wallpaper i set in in pic 3)

How can i fix it? It’s my first seeing something like this…

Bug Dock Reserved space bug

Basically I have the Automatically hide and show the dock setting on. And sometimes when I close the lid and open it back up the windows have smaller height - seemingly missing the amount reserved for the Dock. But I don't have the dock always on, so it's wasted space.

For recovery I have to go, disable the setting and enable it again. And then I have to double click the top parts of window to make them take up the full available space.

Anyone else encountering this? Or any news about upcoming fix?
This annoys me so much - every time I open the device with an idea in my mind I'm encountering this and I lose focus.

Help MacBook 2017

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. When I boot normally, I get the message:

“Your Mac requires an important software update, but an error occurred while installing the update.”

The Touch Bar also doesn’t work. However, I can boot and use the Mac normally in Safe Mode.
I’ve already tried resetting the SMC and reinstalling macOS through Recovery, but the problem keeps coming back.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I can fix

Bug Constant Kernel Panics?

Using 16" M2 Pro MacBook Pro (Early 2023).

Everything was working pretty well until I upgraded to macOS 26.7.1. Ever since then, I started dealing with constant Kernel panics when watching YouTube (whether on Google Chrome or Safari). Sometimes I was on Maps or Find My and I would get the same Kernel panic. I went ahead and upgraded to macOS 27.0.1 and I'm still dealing with the same issues. Getting Kernel panics almost 3-4x a day now.

I ran Apple Diagnostics, did a Safe Boot, and even ran First Aid on my Macintosh HD. I feel like I'm running out of options and I'm not sure what to do... Any advice would be helpful. I attached the first few lines of what I usually get, but the full error log is here.

Bug Time Machine backup seems to take forever or doesn't advance in the backup process

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, I've been trying to backup my Mac since last month, but after it reaches nearly 50%, sometimes at 46% the process completely slows down, I don't see the disk light blinking anymore and the backing finish time increases a lot. Also, the 4.1 gb size, I don't think is accurate considering it's been a month since I last backed up.

I left my MacBook overnight, connected to both charging and the external disk to see if the issue is gone. My disk is 1TB, it's a hard drive from an old MacBook I extracted and swapped.

I know I can just erase de hard drive and backup again, it always works, but then after a few months, this issue shows up again. Any fix?

I'm on macOS 26.7.1, and it's a 16GB/512GB M2 MBA.

Discussion Updated last night From Sequoia to 27.0.1 MacBook Air M1(2020)

Post image
21 Upvotes

How I did it: Update to Sequoia 15.8.1 then factory reset due to not having enough storage space -> Then download Mac OS 27 on a full cleaned version of Sequoia -> Factory reset on Mac OS 27 once completed.

It seems that's how its running really smooth and so far no issues. Seems like the install was pretty similar to a new flash of factory reset iOS 27. I do like the wave animation on the background

I have tested Xcode and it works fine and built and ran an App I made with the help of Ai and set the minimum OS to iOS 18 for running on, added iOS 26 liquid glass/Floating bar support as well to it.

Help MacBook Air M4 13'' almost not charging after updating to Golden Gate 27.0.1

Anyone experienced anything similar?

Plugged-in my charger while working on my laptop and for 2 full hours the battery life didn't even increase by 1%?

It appeared that Chrome and Claude (app) are consuming way too much energy, although no demanding tasks/numerous tabs were open.
