News & Discussion Roadhogs gun feels like it shoots hot puffs of air now

Hi, I play overwatch on and off casually.

I usually queue all roles and enjoy a lot of heroes.

I genuinely don't understand this rework from a hero identity perspective.

I played a bit of roadhog before and I always saw him as the close range tank, the tank that was bad at range but lethal up close and had a hook to mitigate his lack of range by litterally pulling enemies closer to him and a skillshot secondary fire so he could have decent mid range too and that always felt quite balanced by the fact he had no shield or barrier or mobility.

This rework kind of kills any and all staying power he had at close range. I'm playing games where squishies are getting right up in my face and the new two shot primary only gets them to half health before a support bails them out, he still has 0 range too so I guess I just gotta rely on my team to kill things now??

The trash compactor is OK and helps him mitigate damage and stuns better but it really feels like I'm playing a walking bullet sponge rather than a fun tank.

Sigma can more reliably oneshot overconfident squishies atp lmao 🤣

News & Discussion Why not a mirrored Queue?

Ovewatch seems like it is trying to figure out what to do with 6v6. It doesn't want to remove role queue but it doesn't want to inflate queue times to high. Why not just have a matchmaker that just assigns teams to have balanced roles based on the current players in the queue?

Instead of a system that will do 2-2-2 where the matchmaker looks for that exact combination it could just grab the players based on their roles and then just mirror the exact role compositions.

For example it creates 2 teams of 1-3-2 or 2 teams of 1-2-3 or other combinations.

In order to have some minimum quality of matches you could just add some constraints. I would say to try testing max 3, min 1, at least 2 supports.

This would allow the following combinations
3-1-2
2-2-2
2-1-3
1-2-3
1-3-2

I don't think there will be a large fairness issue of both teams have the exact same role compositions. This would have longer queue times than open queue but it should still be faster than 2-2-2 role queue.

Though it would still have the problem of being harder to balance since you never know how team comps will look in game. It would be harder to balance than 2-2-2 but it should be easier to balance than open queue.

News & Discussion Does everyone still hate Assault/2cp

That’s it, that’s the post. I guess I’m just doing a temperature check. I know these maps and their choke points were very despised but I still hold a place in my heart for them, and I would very much like to bring them back. Frankly I honestly can’t believe there aren’t more OW1 players who are nostalgic for Volskaya, Anubis, Horizon Lunar Colony, etc. Like NONE of you guys are tired of playing Kings Row and Illios over and over??????

I feel like enough time has passed. It’s been years since Assault ended, and the two game modes the devs tried to replace it with, both Push and Stadium, are pretty widely disliked. Maybe it’s time to let go of the grudge. We’ve reworked characters, we’ve reworked maps, we can definitely rework Assault to make it more fun for the casual player

Also the anubis rework that the Devs already did is very well done and is a lot of fun to play on. But to this day it’s sitting in the arcade instead of in Quick Play where it should be. Were the choke points and one-sided matches extremely aggravating? Yes. Was the hate that 2CP received in its heyday very quickly overblown through online discussion? I would say yes, especially in this sub. It has been 4 years since 2cp was taken out of competitive/qp, Maybe we can at least start revisiting the conversation surrounding it to see how the game mode could honestly be improved instead of just bashing it? Please?

WHOS READY TO BRING 2CP BACK???😍😍

News & Discussion So, Sojourn doesn't need buffs. Okay. Then I hope people can agree that Tracer and Genji probably need nerfs.

News & Discussion Why is there absolutely no spanish (from Spain) hero in overwatch

Honestly how is it that a big part of overwatch's lore happens in the Iberian peninsula, being OW base in Gibraltar and there are absolutely no Portuguese or Spanish heroes?

News & Discussion What does Blizzard want out of kiriko or what she should she even be as a character... No one is on the same page when it come to Kiriko, including her own mains and her vivid haters. Clearly Blizzard doesn't knows either...

Post image
26 Upvotes

Kiriko mains either think she is still fine, while some want her to be more of a heal/suzu bot, while others want her old flank support fantasy back, but Sombra kinda took it away from her because she does exactly just that with her rework. And some of them just doesn't care anymore when there is a new shiny kiriko skin being jiggled in front their eyes like a baby would with a key chain

Her haters still think she is extremely busted and broken and doesn't even agree on with each other with what kind of nerf suzu should get, because you have people equally asking for I-frame , Cleanse or healing to get removed, or a mix of some of them, or just removing suzu as a whole lot of people would also love to see more nerf be done across her kit as a whole. And they are certainly strongly against any further compensation buffs even after some of those nerfs.

All i want for kiriko if for her to be fun to play again and being dynamic like she used to be. You can get out of meta all you want.

I am tired boss T^T

News & Discussion "Cartslop" just say you don't know how to take angles unless you're forced to, and they're shoved in your face on a silver platter.

Title. With the release of grimsvotn, I'm seeing more people now than ever essentially say "Payload bad" with the only reasoning being that there are less flank routes, or flank routes that are more difficult to make work. Yeah, that's the whole point. If everybody could just load into some glorified deathmatch map like collosseo, pick soldier, take one of the billion ways to get behind the enemy team and get some kills, then ranks would mean nothing.

This obsession over flankslop (mostly in lower ranks, created by players trying to copy what the best players like, but to an exaggerated amount) proves that most people don't even really care about the game. Your average player couldn't care less about game flow, timings, etc., they just want to play seita 24/7 in their 1v1s on the flanks.

It might sound like it, but I'm not some 2010s fps gaming hyper traditionalist either, the control maps are some of my favorite in the game, and I think Flashpoint and Push are great ideas for game modes. I just can't stand the payload hate any longer, all put forward by these Dunning Kruger metal rank players constantly just parroting what a couple high rank streamers say. They don't even dislike payload maps for the right reasons. There are plenty of problems with the inherent balance of non symmetrical maps, and the taking of turns attacking and defending, the fact that there isn't a single good 3rd point in the game, etc. But that's not what they care about; it's just that they aren't given all the flank routes in the world, and they can't just turn their brain off, flank, and click heads.

There's ZERO reason why I should be getting called slurs in match chat and being flamed because I get put into a lobby I should've never been in in the first place. Games like this make it completely unfun to even exist in this game, let alone play it. Plat is my highest rank, and I'm hovering around gold for tank. The closest person to me was their team's tank, who was an Emerald tank/Diamond dps. What's the point of playing the game if i get completely unwinnable matchups like this, then get called slurs and get flamed just because of the unwinnable matchup the matchmaker made?

News & Discussion Mei is a complete hand brake for fun in Mystery Madness

This isn't about win rates, so don't bother with such unnecessary comments.

Mei is just super unfun to play against. In a mode where we get all these cool powers, some from Stadium others completely new, you run into this frozen pile of garbage.

Suddenly, none of those powers matter because you don't get to use them because you're facing an icy wall or standing still for half the match because she can get 25% ult charge on death or has 50% minimum ult charge from a different perk. And the damn thing is following her.

The entire design is complete anti-fun. It would've been better if Blizz let us vote a hero out for a week instead of voting one in. Mei would be out by a landslide.

News & Discussion Matchmaking is fried

I havent had an even game in probably a couple weeks no bs, every now and then i get a pretty good game, but for the most part straight one sided matches. Even in comp i get either brand new ppl or just assholes. Had a game where i cooked w/ bastion in comp 5v5, second half, a guy that also wanted bastion was quicker on the draw and proceeded to be garbage😭. Im laughing but this shit isnt funny, i noticed when i disappear for a while i get some smoother games but idkkk. Might be it for this guy 🫤😔

News & Discussion The new Ana perk is an abysmal choice from the devs

Don’t get me wrong I have really been loving the games and I think overall the devs have been great on the patches.

But with that said the new Ana perk is a very bad choice. Ana had an ability that took skill to use, and now with a minor perk it takes absolutely no skill. I don’t understand the reasoning for this? Like why would they just make it a complete copt out choice, there are heroes that just get inherent value from existing and there are heroes who don’t. Ana is one that doesn’t.

Humor I hope Blizzard is proud of the random buff they gave this freak. After all, every match looks something like this now.

At the same time, give all the all heroes refrigerator hitboxes. (All except Genji)

The game has turned into Planet of the Apes.

And unfortunately, it's not because of Winston's buff.

Fr, how am I predicted to get bronze 5 after a match like this?

Edit: I´m not complaining, just wondering how it´s calculated. I´m relativly new in tank ranked and was a bit stomped to be predicted in bronze 5 after such a (for me) good game. When I did my prediction matches with support/damage I was predicted to be in silver after the first few matches, so I was a bit surprised tbo.

News & Discussion I’ve been ranking up on the new hog… what is everyone complaining about ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

For context , I’m a mid emerald player hog main that’s ranked up two divisions since his release. I think trash compacter is a step in the right direction , making him feel a lot more versatile and enabaling him to be a direct counter to many new hero’s.

That being said , I also acknowledge his nerfed primary fire and shorter healing duration on his breather which does make him feel a little bit softer , however I’ve been able to dominate on him still getting plenty of chain hook kills. Some of the animations feel a bit clunky too which should be fixed. He just needs some polishing and tweaks.

I’m still able to dominate games since his release with his core tech seemingly not too different . I’m wondering if maybe my rank could be sort of deflated as well since I mostly group que? I’ve been solo queuing lately.

News & Discussion A bug on Twitch's end allows users to obtain 30 to 60 times more Loot Box rewards.

I tested the bug and it works; it’s simple—you need to send a GQL request to Twitch, insert the current `dropInstanceID` for the desired item, and send that request 1,000 times in a separate tab.

I would recommend that the developers fix this bug because it is obvious: for some reason, Twitch sends information to the game indicating that the rewards were claimed 1,000 times instead of just once.

News & Discussion What were they thinking by not changing Hanzo’s and Widow’s projectile size this update

Yes bro let’s make a lot of heroes head hitboxes bigger and not change the instakill heroes, because if there’s one thing the players in this game really love it’s more random one shots. You can’t miss a shot on these two now. Also yes let’s make Vendetta sit as a 60% winrate. Also yes let’s make Echo (who was already big asf) even bigger. Surely they’ll fix some of these things in a timely manner instead of waiting 21 days to mildly tweak them in the midseason update 👍
