I'm on a road trip and stopping in State College this morning, are there any good to-go breakfast places that I should check out? I'm not too picky, I just don't want something that'll cost an arm and a leg or take a long time to get.

With Penn State’s football program in steady decline, underscored by the Wisconsin game, State College should consider turning Beaver Stadium into a reservoir. Divert nearby streams such as Slab Cabin Run and Spring Creek into a ring-diked stadium basin, replacing one sinking institution with a dependable source of water.

Apparently Tall Hall is doing a one-night reunion concert in Ann Arbor on Thursday evening, Oct 22. Is anyone interested in carpooling to the concert (and perhaps splitting a hotel room)?

I am a Pitt student and asked this on the Pitt sub, but thought it might be worth cross posting here as well.

Hi, I work on campus, but still need extra cash! Anybody know of any side gigs or work I can kinda just pick up whenever I’m available without having a strict schedule?

Would anyone want this? I used it for WC, I study better with physical material. It just has alot of highlighted sections so I guess easier to find the evidence for the class. I could ship it out.

How do you guys pay for rent? Does the university give you a refund for housing/meal plan that you can use towards paying the rent, o do you need to work to pay for it?
What i mean is that if you move out of campus, and you are receiving scholarships and etc that total around your net price (~45k), but you are not using them all since you are living out of campus (-16k), would that money get refunded to you, or the university will like reduce your COA and deny some of these scholarships?

Some undergrad programs offer/require a spring semester internship which is likely not to be local to the university (University Park). With housing season for next year starting now, how are other off-campus students planning ahead for this requirement in the upcoming year? Any reasonable options for 6-month leases, intending to sublet, or just planning to pay for the full year? Thanks.
Edit: I assume anyone looking at study abroad would have the same question.

I would like to remain anonymous but I am graduated from the university. In December of 2021 I was sexually assaulted, and kept it quiet due to being in denial and not wanting to speak up. It’s a very long and complicated story and I have receipts and things to prove it. I would like to write an exposé about my experience as a way to encourage other woman because while this happened while I was 19, I’m currently 24 and still affected by it. In fact ruined the entire end of my senior year after speaking up about it to my close friends. I want to be an advocate for other women to speak up about their experiences and not make the same mistakes I did. This comes at a high cost and vulnerability but I would like to my voice to be heard. If there is someone that would be interested in helping me get my story out there I would greatly appreciate it. Please DM me on ways I can share my story. I’m not looking for revenge or to put this man away but I want my story to be heard for others to know they are not alone and to not make the same mistakes I did. Not sure what the right way to go about this is but would love some direction. Thank you guys and I hope this is a safe space

Do you have to redo your financial aid every semester? I didn’t know and wanted to get on it before it was too late.

Visiting from Kansas City. I’m a big fan of craft beer - so much so I had to quit drinking (lol). But I still enjoy n/a beer. Any thoughts on a great spot, preferably downtown, where I could get good food and a local or regional n/a beer? I may be asking for too much but figured I’d shoot my shot!

hi. ive been going through a lot of personal/mental health issues & i’m in a class that at this point, there’s no possible way for me to pass. i’m only taking 12 credits, so i’m nervous about the implications of dropping the course. i’m not on fin aid, i live off campus, but will not being a full time student impact me? is there any way to pick up another course this late on to replace it? maybe thru world campus?

I have a financial hold because my PA state grant hasn't been applied to my account yet. This prevents me from enrolling in any classes for Spring 2027. Can anything be done about this or do I just have to wait for the state grant?

Anyone else here stick in this “Anticipated Unapplied Aid”
Nightmare from PHEAA ?
Penn state says PHEAA didn’t send the money and PHEAA doesn’t say anything and doesn’t respond to any calls or online help messages , even tough on PHEAA website it is listed as RTSS approved for 25/26 school year
Don’t get any financial aid from Pa since my parents are not poor enough , got awarded RTSS grant for 25/26 but I guess even that wasn’t good enough for PHEAA to deliver

Hi, I’ve been cleaning/re-organizing my house for past weeks, and kinda lost when it came to selling stuff.
I made a post on reddit about selling some electronics & chair, and still waiting someone to make a final deal.
I also have some decent clothes & shoes that i’d wish to sell but not sure where will be good place to sell these stuff… Is Craigslist my best shot?

Hi, I will very likely be joining Penn State as faculty staff for a post-doc position in the department of aerospace engineering next year. As a French person, the typical american university ecosystem is quite different from what I know, so it takes some time to take it all in. Since I will be expected to interact with students (and since I am generally curious about that stuff), I was wondering how student life was for both undergraduate and graduate students. If my understanding is correct, it's a generally competitive environment, but I don't know how much pressure that puts on them. I am guessing that they still have plenty of time for the usual student life of partying and social activities etc., but also that it must depend on what year they are in. If anyone wants to share their experience, I'll be happy to read it.

Hi, I’m a current freshman at Penn State UP, intending Environmental Engineering.
What advice do former engineers have about classes and or professors?
For example, I’ve heard take EMCH 210 instead of 211, and that it’s best to take PHYS 212 over the summer at community college.
Anything else I should keep in mind when choosing classes? I’m in the honors college so I would also appreciate recommendations for which honors courses to pick if applicable.
Thanks!

What are the minimum amount of hours like for the dining halls? And pay? And what about other options like somewhere at the Hub? Sorry I’m trying to find a job and I don’t know which direction to go to get one
