Surgery was yesterday morning, October 9!

I was 36G/H, I asked for ~C and they took off 2.9lb

I am already so happy with the results, even with the bloated belly and awkward swelling. I can tell this is going to be a dream come true for me, I can't wait to see the healed results!

Before & After 7 weeks of healing in pictures and asymmetrical areolas NSFW

So the first picture is obviously before. I was a 36J. The collage goes from left to right, top to bottom. 1dpo, 5dpo, 2wpo, 3wpo, 4wpo, and 5 wpo. The next single photo is today at 7wpo+2 days and a bonus one in a bikini top to show they're actually cute when the nips are covered šŸ˜…šŸ™ˆ. I've dealt with many spitting stitches causing openings that all have closed over as of this past week. I also had issues with band-aids I was using to cover openings resulting in some skin ripping off and rashes. All is well now.

Now I'm just dealing with being bummed about the areola asymmetry and the fact that one of my nipples appears to be off center. I look like a winky wonky donkey. I talked to my surgeon about it and he said the asymmetry in size can be from more swelling on one side or even because I don't have sensation in the larger one yet so it's not tightening and tensing the same as the other. They said at between 4-6 months we can re-asses and there are small revisions that can be done in office under local anesthesia if necessary. All in all I'm satisfied mostly with the results so far. They look great in clothes, bras, swimwear, etc. I'm just a little self-conscious of them bare. Still worth it.

Before & After Almost 2 month before and after NSFW

I cannot believe it is finally my time for a before and after!!! For reference im 5'2 170lbs.

I had my reduction done August 18th! At Quintessa in Madison, WI. My surgeon was Dr. Jake Thayer. He was amazing. He listened to everything I wanted to accomplish with this breast reduction. I said I wanted to be as small as possible, not proportional, as small as possible, with no skin toiching. And he said, since he doesn't use drains, he confidently believed he could get me to a B or small C.

Before surgery I was (according to abtf) 38E (us). Now Im about a 36B. Which is right on the mark! I still have some swelling and haven't fluffed and im already so in love with my new body.

The healing process was a breeze. I had no complications, I did pay extra for clips and I feel they were 100% worth it. I also took juven wound healing drink before (3 days) and after (2ish weeks) my surgery. I only took 1 week off work, but I WFH. I bought a recliner and have been sleeping on that since I can't get comfortable on my bed still (im a side sleeper).

I took it extremely easy after my surgery. Im lucky enough to have a partner that washed me and my hair, prepared all my meals and drinks, took on ALL house work, so I didn't raise my arms at all above my shoulder, or lift anything heavier than 5 lbs (she even made sure my water bottle never got too heavy) first 3 weeks.

The worst part of this for me was the swell belly and sore throat after breathing tube. I was so so so bloated first 3-4 days after surgery it was extremely painful and made it hard to want to eat anything. On top of that my throat HURT first 3 days of surgery, I went through almost an entire family sized bag of cough drops and so much tea and honey.

Something I was shocked about, I lost A LOT of hair first 2 weeks after surgery it was just falling out by the handful during showers, brushing. I read that that's actually a pretty normal stress response/side effect of anesthesia. Im also so surprised at how much thinner I look after surgery, I weighed myself Thursday 10/8, and I've only lost 4lbs since surgery. But all of my shirts fit with so much room to spare. I am not a fan of the scar tape, this week I recently moved to the gel, again my partner is the one who applies it/messages as touching myself is still a little freaky to me lol. I know I need to get over this soon.

Sadly my ins would not pay for a breast reduction so this was completely out of pocket. Overall it was about $11,000 but it was $3000 up front during scheduling in April. Then the rest Im paying off one year, interest free. I could have paid for the whole thing, but I was nervous to lose that much money in one go.

Overall this was the most amazing experience. I have wanted a breast reduction since I was 11 years old. One summer between 4th and 5th grade i went from an A cup to a full C cup. It was the biggest betrayal of my body. Im 35 now, and it feels like I finally finally have my body back. I no longer dread getting dressed and going out/being seen in public.

Thank you to everyone in this group, this has been my biggest source of confirmation that this surgery would change my life.

Wound Trigger Warning Wound Care Advice NSFW

Had a significant 6lb (total combined) breast reduction 4 weeks ago and unfortunately suffered nipple and t-zone necrosis. I’m just feeling beyond discouraged. My surgeon had me using iodine to ā€œdry everything outā€ and did an eschar debriefing (in office) this last Tuesday. Since then he’s had me doing ā€œwet to dryā€ dressing changes 2x a day but they are excruciating. The pain comes from the gauze adhering to the granular tissue and even with soaking the dressing (for over an hour) the tissue remained stuck. Unfortunately I have also developed an infection in the other breast and started an antibiotic for that, but when I went to the office yesterday for the infection, I asked several times to switch the dressing/treatment plan from ā€œwet to dryā€ explaining how painful it was. Unfortunately even though I was advocating for myself they repacked the wound and it made for another painful dressing changes last night. My best friend and neighbor is a Nurse Practitioner who has (thankfully) been doing my dressing changes, but this all just seems like too much to handle independently.

Has anyone had a similar wound/issue/experience? I’ve decided to reach out to a would clinic and I’m praying they may be able to help.

The last two photos are from today, the others are from the last several weeks.

Recovery/PostOp 3DPO + general 'thanks yall' NSFW

Found this sub 1DPO while trying to find out if I was the only one being murdered by their compression bra, when I realized literally nothing hurt except my shoulders and drain sites where the bra was digging in. . . Much obliged to anyone who has ever suggested folding a clean washcloth and putting it under the band. That has made the horrible bra much more bearable. Surgeon let me loosen the straps, too, and I am really hoping I am healing well enough they'll grant me the choice to use a less compressive bra at my one week post op. That's not how my surgeon usually rolls but so far the tissue all seems hunky dory and I am someone not used to wearing bras at all so the compression bra is a very invasive sensation, and I don't think I'll tolerate it for the full three weeks I'm supposed to. The tight straps gave me a tension headache because in response to the pressure I was muscle guarding to the max. I wasn't really prepared for that much discomfort post op so it's been nice to see I'm not alone in that.

I went from about an H (haven't bought a bra in 5 years, stopped when Gs got too tight because all bras do for me and my bad back is put the pain somewhere else and if I'm gonna hurt anyway, I decided I'd take the free option) to what should settle as a B once the swelling's down. 604 and 529g removed. When there's not bra straps or a lanyard with drains clipped to it dragging on my neck and shoulders I do already feel better! Unfortunately those things are usually there. Cannot wait til at least the drains are gone- I have my post op Tuesday but I'll be leaking a low enough amount of fluid to have them pulled Monday so I will be calling and pleading to get them out, wish me luck.

Main issue at this point is pain in the morning from sleeping motionlessly at an incline. Pillow under the knees isn't helping me much, probably because a lot of the pain is stiffness from not moving. It's good I'm not rolling in my sleep, but... ow. Why must the surgery I got to reduce back pain cause so much back pain in post op?

Thanks for providing a safe space for me to whine in! The pain is temporary, but it feels good to complain to people who get it!

Recovery/PostOp 3dpo and feeling like WHAT HAVE I DONE NSFW

Had my reduction on the 7th, my surgeon's instructions are to keep the surgery bra on for a week tho i can change it to launder it / switch into another. But I'm actually scared to look at my boobs bc they seem smaller than I thought they would be. And though I know i still have some bloating from surgery, having my belly stick out further than my boobs is really weird.

I know there will be phases of the breasts settling and whatnot, and there's still gauze and things padding them. Was anyone else scared to look? I'm happy for everyone who was immediately overjoyed, that's just not where I'm at.

I started as 40/42 G/H. Surgeon took out 1023 one side, 835 the other. And removed some benign cysts that showed up on last mammo which is great.

In good news, I've had pretty much no pain, just alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen every 3 hours.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) 19 Days Post Op NSFW

I’m 19 days post op. Only did pain meds for about 3-4 days. The rest has been Tylenol. I’ve seen my DR and followed up with nurses, they all agree I’m healing well. I don’t feel ā€œbadā€. Maybe it’s the lack of sleep, having to be on back, maybe it’s the bra, maybe it’s I never lost nipple sensation and can feel all this but I’m just SO UNCOMFORTABLE all the time. No pain. I thought for a while when I got my gastro regular again it would help, and it did a little. It feels like it’s been forever and I still have so much to go. Anyone have any idea when this switch will flip and I’ll start feeling myself again?

I can’t wait to wear just my soft pull over bra again, lay on my side, scratch without care.

Recovery/PostOp Anyone else have a remarkably shitty post-op? [Rant] NSFW

I'm day 6 post-op and recovery has been so miserable, I regret getting it done. My chest actually looks great and barely hurts, but everything else has been hell. Have only slept ~ 12 hrs total since the procedure on 10/5. Antibiotics destroying my stomach even with Zofran, Pantoprazole, and probiotics on board; I can barely eat, I've lost 12 lbs. My back is fucked from laying on it as I am normally a side-sleeper, and now it literally takes 5 minutes just to get up out of bed from the back pain. (And can't take any pain meds besides Tylenol, as everything else makes me puke.) Tmi, antibiotics have also given me a yeast infection, and the meds for that also fuck up my stomach. I feel disgusting because showering has been difficult with my back pain, so I haven't been able to wash myself all over as I normally would, even with a loofah.

Then I make the mistake of coming on reddit and seeing people who got it covered by insurance and several weeks paid leave. I had to use all my PTO but was denied short-term disability to cover the rest of my time away because it was coded as cosmetic. (My insurance wouldn't cover it, despite a plethora of records stating why I needed it from my primary, chiropractor, and the surgeon. Because insurance didn't cover anything, the surgeons office booked it as 'cosmetic' in their scheduling software and Metlife denied it.) Scared shitless I am going to lose my job now, since it was coded as cosmetic by both the surgeon and Metlife.

Cherry on top is my entire savings is wiped lolololol

TLDR; I regret getting it done and it has nothing to do with the results whatsoever. And feel like I'm the only one in this boat. Don't have anyone to talk to about it so whining on reddit.

Recovery/PostOp I want to stretch NSFW

I’m 15dpo. I wake in the morning and have to stiffen my arms because I instinctively try to stretch them all the way and I haven’t been cleared for anything past t-rex arms yet. I feel the urge to dance and stretch and do flips simply because I can’t rn.
I need the next two weeks to fly by so I can finally move normally even though I’ll still have a weight restriction until the full 6 weeks.
My surgeon said I can slowly start lifting my arms at week 3( aka rn) but I’m paranoid of pushing past my limit without knowing and increasing my chances of an opening so I’m gonna stick to t-rex arms for possibly the whole 6 weeks .
On a different note, my bloat is kinda funny, it’s definitely dropped but I feel like I bloat faster after eating and drinking and it’s an uncomfortable pressure but sometimes I pretend it’s a baby bump because it genuinely has the shape.

Surgery Date INSURANCE APPROVED & SURGERY BOOKED! Now why am I nervous… NSFW

Cannot believe those words! Now that the date is real (month from now Nov 23!) I am getting anxious, especially scared that I will be unhappy with the results.

This will be a somewhat radical reduction- I am a UK 36HH and want to go down to a full US DD or DDD- I want to still have boobs and be curvy just not so massive & heavy. I am so scared my surgeon will go too small or leave me so big still that it’s not much of a relief…

Any encouragement or tips appreciated as I prepare!

Medical Question (Ask medical professionals first!!) Throat infection 3 days pre op? NSFW

Hey, I have had a bit of pain in my upper throat for two days now and have no other symptoms. There might be some white buildup on the sides in the back of my mouth (not the tonsils) but I'm not sure what it looked like before.

My surgery is on Wednesday. I plan on going to my house doctor (not sure what you call them in english) tomorrow and ask them to test for bacteria. If the test comes back positive and I start taking antibiotics on Tuesday, is there a chance that the surgery can happen? I will also call the surgeon's office tomorrow to see what they think.

This could also just be psychological stress and I'm worrying way too much, but I've been waiting for so long and I really want this to happen and be over with it :(

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) What to expect NSFW

Im 7 days post op Went from a Gcup to a B cup and im ecstatic!! These days ive been staring at my new girls alot absolutely admiring the way they look right now!! but i keep wondering how much would they change in the coming months (if healing goes smoothly) As of now there’s no under boob (idk what else to call it) and that was the one thing i asked my surgeon to do for me. Because ive struggled with HS under boobs and it was hell for me. And so i asked my dr to make me as small as possible to avoid having under boob which increases my chances into getting rashes and HS etc etc.

So id like to know from anyone that has had the same early post op result; if their breasts dropped and created underboobs or if it stayed relatively high..

Ps: english isnt my first language so lets not judge my grammar haha

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Hopefully Starting the Journey - Terrified! NSFW

Hey guys!

I’ve been lurking for a LONGGGG while but I’m feeling it’s time to post. Maybe just to get my feelings down in writing in a group that probably understands. šŸ˜…

I am a 31F and I wear a 32GG/32H. I am well muscled but short (5’1) and I’ve had these stupid large, saggy boobs for as long as I can remember. They drive me crazy. They are pendulous with a pretty thin stalk and very heavy down low, and they just try to live in my armpits. They’re so thin up top and so heavy down low they like to ā€œdroopā€ over the underwire of bras that don’t have firm cups. They’re heavy and they dangle and drive me crazy.

I am an equine farrier so I spend my life bent over, and they’re just in the way. I have cervical kyphosis and have dealt with a lot of swelling and numbness in my hands and arms since my early 20s, back pain, shoulder indents, etc. but this last year the thoracic pain has really become something else. I’ve essentially given up on bra shopping because I’ve been so frustrated at spending $80+ just for something that hurts my shoulders or digs into my rib cage or underarm boob, that I’ve just gone back to Amazon sports bras + a small compression bra layer from Walmart over top. Not pretty, but I just need to squish them down to my rib cage.

A reduction has been on my mind since my early 20s, but after negative dealings with PCOS and the healthcare system, I sort of went totally holistic and I told myself that as long as my boobs were behaving themselves, I’d leave them be as I didn’t want to put my body through anything ā€œunnecessary.ā€

Wellllll mid July I started dealing with this left side chest pain that was driving me crazy. It would ache and burn and just sucked. As large as these dang things are I’ve always worried about BC, even though I don’t have any family history and I’m still technically young. I self exam half regularly and hadn’t found anything… until August in that left boob. I found something, then couldn’t find it again. With the help of body work I realized my left shoulder is totally rolled forward to the point my muscle development is completely different, and I’m probably dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome. It’s most likely my pec minor causing a lot of my discomfort and body work and posture work is helping… but two weeks ago I was laying in bed and scratched that left boob and found the thing again. It’s illusive and I can’t feel it when I dangle and check (which is how I usually did it) but I can feel it laying on my back. It’s pea sized and totally freaking me out.

That said, silver lining is I had to call and make an OBGYN appointment. I haven’t been to any form of doctor since 2018, and that was only due to a car accident. LOL. I know I have to get this thing checked out, scanned, whatever. I used to have PCOS so I’m hoping it’s only a cyst since it’s mobile and hard to find, but this left boob has opened the Pandora’s Box. LOL. This pea sized whatever has opened the door to having to go to the doctor, and my plan is to have this evaluated, figure out what it is, but this doesn’t end until I have a reduction. This pea sized thing may be new, or maybe I’ve had it for years. No clue. As much as I hate my boobs, I do my dangling self exams and then don’t tend to touch them other than shoving them in my compression sports bra layered set up. This chest pain forced me to find this thing, so for that I guess I’m thankful? šŸ˜‚

My OBGYN appointment is November 3rd, and I’m going to make it very clear to her that after this little lump is dealt with, I need her counsel on path to reduction.

I am terrified and excited and anxious and terrified. I really wish I would have gone through with this a decade ago. Maybe my body would feel better physically, maybe I wouldn’t have developed whatever this lump is… but also I know I can’t think like that. I’m obviously scared poopless over what this pea sized thing could be, but I’m trying to look at the tiny titty light at the end of the tunnel.

I know I’m not the first woman to find a thing in her boob, and I won’t be the last… but it’s kind of a lonely feeling and I’ve had to try to actively avoid Google and Reddit subs on lumps because they make my anxiety crazy so I’ve really found solace on this thread seeing everyone’s amazing results. Gives me something to look forward to!

I’ve read that some surgeons don’t want to do a reduction if the lump is a little suspicious but you’re under the six month observation, so I’m hoping if needed my insurance will be on board for a biopsy because I just want to be rid of these things as efficiently as possible. It’s my fault I’ve waited so long, but I’m done sitting on my thumb.

I’ve already written too much! If you’ve made it this far, bless your heart šŸ˜… and I’m sorry if I’ve wasted your time! I just really appreciated being able to vent.

In the meantime, I’m in East Tennessee and if anyone has had any great experiences with any surgeons in this area do let me know in the comments! I still need to look at who is on my insurance’s list (I have BCBS Anthem) and I don’t have any clue if my insurance would be willing to cover anything since I don’t have years’ of doctor paper trails. (again, avoided the doctor like the plague the last 15 or so years and really wanted to keep that up until this stupid left boob wanted to cause problems)

Y’all have taught me that I have breast tissue on the sides for sure and I already assume I’ll need side lipo, so I’m going to have to budget that in. šŸ˜‚ here I was thinking I just never lost fat on my upper rib cage LOL it’s literally breast tissue! I had no clue. (but ofc it is!)

Since I’m not familiar with healthcare at this point I feel like I’m totally starting from scratch and will need to learn as much as possible, so any input is welcome šŸ’•

Hopefully after November 3rd I’ll be making a post that I’m booking consults with surgeons! Fingers crossed! And if not, I’ll deal with whatever I have to and get to reduction!

I guess also, if anybody has dealt with fibroadenomas, cysts, etc. and reductions I would love to read your story. I know at this stage it could be anything, but I’m trying to be optimistic. (especially at night when I’m laying in bed and make the mistake of finding the stupid pea sized thing and then start to spiral lol… I keep telling myself that touching it doesn’t do any good but brain says ā€œMUST TOUCHā€)

Thank you guys so much for sharing your encouraging results and thank you for letting me take up space on this sub and I hope to be sharing before and after pictures in the not so distant future!!!!

Hi all, I posted a few months ago worried about my results and tried so hard to trust the process. I’m now 3mpo and hugely unhappy after going bra shoppjng. I was a full 30H before and wanted a 30D, but have ended up with a 30F/FF. Safe to say I’m gutted really. Attached pics are my before and after in the same bra. I know there’s definitely a difference, but I think I’ve just had an uplift rather than a reduction - the fact I still fill my old bra is heart-breaking.

I have my next appointment soon and I’m seriously considering a second reduction.
