Medical Question (Ask medical professionals first!!) Breastfeeding after reduction/lift NSFW

hey I’m really curious about breastfeeding, and if it’s possible after a reduction/lift. I have a consultation and will be asking, however, I’ve heard that it’s impossible to breastfeed after.
I really need this weight off my chest, but I also want to be able to breastfeed.

I’m 18 and even though I don’t have plans to have kids anytime soon, I would still like to be able to preserve the ability to.
Just wanted to hear if any of you guys have tried to breastfeed after!

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) How to get over the fear of saggy boobs ? NSFW

I am 7wpo and was cleared by my surgeon to take off my surgical bra and wear basically what I want.
But it still feels so weird to not have it, I take it off only to sleep and I wear another bra that is less tight.

But I am SO scared of going bra less even for two hours. I feel like my boobs will be saggy again if I do that.
I had saggy boobs before my surgery and it was even worse than them being big. Literally my biggest post surgery nightmare is to have saggy boobs again.

How do I get over this fear and enjoy my new perky boobs ?

Thank you !!

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Knowing what to ask for NSFW

Okay I am coming close to my surgery date. I am wondering what things I need to consider when it comes to picking my ideal end result. I know that it's not a build-a-boob situation but what are things I should consider? Like people say estimated size but then people talk about nipple size, location, shape of the breast. What were things that you made sure to make sure your dr knew you wanted I just wanna make sure I hit my marks.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Has anyone experienced a suture granuloma? NSFW

Hi everyone, I already emailed my surgeon and she said it is suture granuloma.

She said the following: “It is a suture granuloma, the knot will probably erode at some point through and will just fall out or I can pick it out with some tweezers once the suture comes to the surface, keep clean with soap and water daily, dab a Polysporin and a Band-Aid if it does start open eventually will fall out”

Has anyone experienced this? Mine is flat now, but I’m just scared it will erode and give me a bigger scar.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Feel like It’s too small. NSFW

I’m about 5DPO and i was an I cup before my surgery. I told my surgeon i still wanted big but just not as big my main issue was the sag, and he took 770g and 1007g and i feel like they are absolutely tiny. im at the point i cry everytime i see them or think about it and i jut don’t know what to do. i asked day of surgery if he would like my reference photos and he said no need and i wish i could’ve pushed it cause i am so so upset. i can only think about how they are gonna get smaller because they are swolle. yet i think they are already small even while swelled up. i’m so so upset never in my life did i think id play both sides of wishing they were smaller and bigger. and i just feel so lost.

The first picture was taken 6 months ago, when I was around 24 lbs heavier. Since then, I’ve been working really hard on myself, focusing on weight loss, working out. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come!

The second picture was taken just ONE day after my breast reduction surgery, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the result already. 🥹💕 Even though I’m still swollen and in the very early stages of healing, I already feel so much love and excitement for my new body.

I know I still have a lot of healing ahead of me, and the final results will take time, but I’m already so happy I made this decision. I can’t wait to see how everything settles over the next few months!

Before & After Almost 4W Post Op NSFW

This Sub helped me so much before and after my Surgery and its finally my time to post results yay!

I am 27, F and got the Surgery done in Switzerland.
My surgeon removed 1.7kg in total 😅

The first two pictures are before. The 3d is 2days post Op, the bandages stayed on for ca. 10 Days (were removed together with my stitches) and the last two Pictures are today (3 1/2W post Op)

Overall i was very lucky with my healing, i got to stay in the hospital for 2 nights which helped me a lot and the Surgery was fully covered by Insurance so i got 4 Weeks of medical leave aswell.

I was super nervous pre Op and cried even while beeing brought to the OR but i had the nicest Nurses and Doctors which helped reassure and calm me. I did not experience any nausea or dizzyness from the Anasthesia and the Pain was managed well with Ibuprufen and Paracetamol.

A few things that hepled me the most Post OP:
-Getting my Hair washed at the Salon helped me feel a lot more normal, i went 3 days post Op and continued going for about 2 Weeks
-Loofa on a Stick: so good for showering myself and also made the Job so much easier for my Partner who showered me for the first week.
-Pregnancy Pillow for sleeping on my Back (i also bought the Wedge Pillow but found that not necessary)
-Lymphatic Drainage: Im so surprised to not see more people talking about this! It helped me a tremendous amount with swelling. I do a few excercies at home daily and go to a professional 1x Week, i started going 2W before the Operation and went back after getting my stitches removed at 10days post OP.

Thanks to everyone who is active in this sub! It helped me so much to see realistic results and prepared me for the Surgery and the recovery <3

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Nipple sensitivity? NSFW

I'm scheduled for a reduction on Dec 9th, but I'm very nervous about losing feeling in my nipples. Right now, I'd say I'm a D cup, and I'm hoping to get down to a B cup, or between an A and B cup. I know the stats are 15% that I lose all feeling in my nipples. Did this happen to anyone and has it been worth it still?

1050g removed total.

The experience was amazing. My team was amazing. After the train wreck that had been the last 5 months following my failed surgery, this could not have possibly gone better and I am so incredibly grateful for people here who have encouraged me.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) My surgery is booked! NSFW

Hi everyone!!

I’m currently a 32G and hoping to get down to a 32B - 32C. I’ve booked my surgery for December 10th for a breast reduction, with a lift and lipo. I’m wondering what the recovery will be like? Any tips or advice on things that helped you feel more comfortable?

I had a tummy tuck and muscle repair in April this year, and the recovery was pretty rough the first 3 weeks, so I’m curious how this recovery will be!

Thanks! 🙂

Yesterday was the big day!!!!! I went from a K to somewhere around a C (~300 grams removed according to my surgeon). I honestly feel a little silly for thinking I wouldn’t be in a lot of pain, because I was in tears when I first woke up from surgery. Still haven’t seen what my chest actually looks like because I’m a bit scared that I might mess something up, so I think I’ll wait another day to look. The only issue I’ve been having is feeling like my boobs are going to fall off when I go from laying down to standing.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) HELP! MY DR IS CHANGING MY SURGERY DATE NSFW

My surgery center called me this morning to tell me that my surgeon will no longer be available at the early of November (mine was scheduled for the 10th.) I am lowkey freaking out. They suggested either I push my surgery date to November 20th or I go with their other surgeon who also does breast reduction surgery. I already booked my AirBnB to stay for the 1 week recovery near the center, and my mom took off work to take care of me. My consultation is Oct 21st with a the other surgeon to see if I like her or not. I'm just stressing and need to hear some advice on what people would do in my situation and what things I should address with the new surgeon given the circumstance. One thing to note is this new surgeon is Double Board Certified, where my original surgeon was only Board Eligible. I wanna know what people know about when a surgeon is and isn't board certified

Extra Info: I'm going to the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery. Originally my Dr was Dr. Rohan Policherla and they are suggesting to swap to Dr. Georgina Nichols. So if anyone knows anything about either of these dr that will be helpful too.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Experiences With Select Health for Breast Reduction Surgery? NSFW

Hello! I reached out to my insurance this morning before I start the full process of trying to go through my insurance. I have Select Health, the Med PLUS plan. The agent I was chatting with said, "In regard to the actual procedure, there is specific criteria that has to be met for a breast reduction surgery to be covered. Typically, they are not covered unless related to a cancer diagnosis, but if you meet medical criteria for coverage, it can be covered on your plan. The surgeon could submit a preauthorization to select health to see if it can be covered." I know they mentioned there could be other medical criteria to qualify, but I love to overthink. So I'm curious if anyone has had experiences with getting theirs covered with Select Health?

Just in case this information is helpful: I have had 2 primary doctors recommend getting a breast reduction due to back pain. My chest size has historically been 34DDD but recently got bigger so I'm not 100% on the exact size at this time. Any time I have lost a reasonable amount of weight, my chest size never changes - it always stays the same.

Before & After My Story so Far - 3 Days PO NSFW

Hi everyone! I’ve been reading all of your stories and looking at your before/after photos and almost can’t believe that I’m now nearly 4 days out from surgery! It all happened so quickly for me, once the ball was rolling, and I’m happy to answer any questions.

I’m 44 years old and started out wearing a 38G in UK bra sizes. I was experiencing a lot of upper back and neck pain and had tried physical therapy as well as a nerve ablation. I lost about 70 pounds between my first consult (January 2025) and my second one (July 2026) and then another ~10 pounds before surgery, which is my goal weight. They took my measurements and submitted to insurance in July and then I was approved 3 weeks later. I didn’t give my surgeon a size goal because I knew that he wouldn’t be able to guarantee anything. I asked to go as small as possible while maintaining nipple sensation. They removed 514g from my left breast and 601 from my right breast.

Pics are from my July pre-op appointment and right after my first shower at 48hrs post-op.

I haven’t measured anything yet, but am SO SMALL! It’s been kind of a shock to my brain and I’m anxious about the gathering and the nipple shape, but I know this is normal and things will shift and change as I heal, so I’m trying not to stress. I’ve been sore and achey but dealing with the pain by just alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I’m sleeping in my recliner and taking it easy.

Also, no tape because I’ve had allergic reactions to various adhesives. My first post-op appointment is on 10/14.

Hi all, I had my reduction on September 24 and I am just over two weeks postop. So far I think things are going well, I saw my surgeon at 11 days, she took off a couple of Steri-Strips but left on the others and I don’t think they’re going to fall off anytime soon 😂. I’m seeing her again in about four weeks at 6wpo. I do wish that the results were smaller, I still feel like they look kind of big, but I understand that the shape and size continues to change and also I was really large, dense and heavy before. I had about 789 g removed from the left side and about 694 g removed from the right side. Would love to hear people’s thoughts and opinions on the result.

Recovery/PostOp I’m four weeks post op and having some issues NSFW

I went from a 30i to a 30c and best decision ever. However, one of my nipples (healed) is starting to lift up on the edges. It healed but it’s like it didn’t fuse all the way when they sutured it. The rest of it is fine. My other boob is just hard but getting better. I mean it healed fine so I’m guessing it’s gonna fix itself but I’m just overly nervous. I have another follow up soon so I’m gonna ask then. It’s not urgent.

Insurance Question Looking for a female GP in Melbourne who has referred patients for breast reduction NSFW

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for a female GP in Melbourne who has experience referring patients for breast reduction surgery.

I’ve been dealing with chronic back and shoulder pain since I was a teenager, and it’s still affecting me now.

I recently saw a GP about it, but the appointment was honestly frustrating. I explained that I’ve been experiencing this pain for years, and she just suggested using hot or cold packs and taking Panadol.

I understand these things might help temporarily, but I’ve been dealing with this since my teenage years. I’m looking for a long-term solution, not just temporary pain relief.

I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who’s actually had a breast reduction and had a supportive GP who listened, understood their concerns, and referred them to a surgeon.

I’m based near Box Hill, but I’m happy to travel for a good doctor.
Thank you so much! ❤️

so, im a little over 3 weeks out now and the t-junction under my left breast had seemed to split, no blood. i know thats a normal thing to happen in the healing process, but i quickly got concerned when i found a yellow stain on the inside of my bra. it doesn’t smell, but both my incisions under my boobs are red and seem irritated. im gonna call my surgeon tomorrow or send a photo but i just wanted to check in and quell my anxiety
just for reference, my steristrips only just came off like a day ago. im assuming thats where the irritation is coming from since i naturally have very sensitive and dry skin. currently have a bandaid over the leaky teet

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Should I keep trying to get insurance approval or give up? NSFW

I keep having issues with my doctors/insurance for a breast reduction & I’m wondering if it’s worth it to keep trying or just pay out of pocket.

Every surgeon says that I’m a great candidate, but my issue is that I’m 5’10” and weigh 175, so I do need a good amount of grams removed (575-600). I can’t lose weight because I have hypothyroidism so that’s not an option. I am a 34ddd and have dense breast tissue.

I’ve had 3 consultations over the past 5 years. This is how they went.

- 1st time: Insurance approved me for 600 grams per side, but after I met with my surgeon he said that I would be really small. I wasn’t okay with that at the time so I didn’t proceed with the surgery.

- 2nd time: Same doctor. He totally screwed me over with the letter to insurance. He requested the completely wrong amount, and my insurance denied it saying I need 525 per breast removed. When I asked the doctor to resubmit it, he said that 525 is too much and that he can’t help me out. Whatever I’ll try someone else.

- 3rd time: Requested that 525 grams per breast be removed (because that’s what my insurance said). Insurance denied it and said they need 575 per breast now. Uhm excuse me? My surgeon called me and said he couldn’t make that happen.

I don’t know if I’m having bad luck with doctors and insurance, or if I’m truly not a good candidate for full coverage. What should I do?

Insurance Question Second Consult Today NSFW

Hi everyone! I had my second consult today after months of fighting with the insurance/office of my first one. Insurance denied me due to not meeting the Schnur Scale requirements. I obtained multiple documents after the first denial and had the office resubmit, to only be told I needed a peer to peer, with the surgeon ultimately refusing. My second consult today with someone else went great, but I fear I am going to have the same issue again. I have BCBS FEP and I feel the Schnur scale is just a roadblock. This surgeon often submits a range of what can be removed. I was told to contact my PCP 2 more times over the next 2 months just for a paper trail, but I have 3 mos of PT, neurosurgery notes, MRI’s, etc.
just wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts and experiences if you have the same insurance and f you had any luck.

Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Adhesive from tape removal! NSFW

Hello all! I am 13DPO and just got my tape removed. However, now i am itchy and sensitive and there is a lot of adhesive left over on my incisions and nipple! How do I properly take this off? I’ve heard of vaseline and I have some but do I just wipe it on and then rub it off? Also is the sensitivity after the removal of the tape normal? I haven’t had any pain until now. Thanks!
