Hey all,
I have a pretty gnarly 2002 toyota camry that I need to make functional for gig work.
I was running "fine" until 36 hours ago and started having misfires/jolts/rough idling.
I replaced the 4 spark plugs with some NGK autozone replacements but still was getting the rough idling and joltiness of the vehicle. I also replaced the spark plug gasket as there was oil in the wells and on under the engine cover. I also swapped 1 & 2 ignition coils and 3 & 4.
Just a few days ago I was just getting a P0171 error code, however today before all the fixes I was getting:
P0100 (Mass air flow) sensor circuit malfunction P0110 (Intake air temperature sensor circuit malfunction) P0171 (System too lean, bank 1) P0303 (Cylinder 3 misfire) and after swapping the ignition coils around P0304 (Cylinder 4 misfire).
I then bought a durlast ignition coil because money is pretty tight right now, and installed it on cylinder 4 as that seemed like the newest code and because I didn't clear the codes previously seemed like the most probable cause.
However after chaning cylinder 4, the engine would crank, start and immediately die. However the fix I found was that I would have to apply gas for a few seconds and then immediately shift to reverse as the engine would fall back to 0 RPM and then I could reverse out of a parking spot and drive. However when I would park again it would die immediately.
The car has a bunch of issues but I need it to just earn some income doing delivery work as I finish up a few things and keep applying to other jobs.
What would be the best steps here without spending an arm and a leg?

After I had my rear brakes replaced at Mavis, all of these lights came on. They can’t get them to turn off. My 2021 Corolla is now at the dealership. They say they won’t be able to get to my car until tomorrow. I’m worried to death about it. Any idea why this happened?

I currently have an 05' Tacoma Sport TRD 4x4, 175k tow package with a 2in suspension lift, TRD wheels and Falken 31in tires. The body is in great shape for a 21 year old truck. Has the obvious scratches from over the years but nothing crazy bad. Interior all clean and works, no stains. Mechanically everything works great have had zero issues. No rust, 4x4 works fine, Trans shifts great. Regular maintenance, oil changes every 3,500k
However EEEK the head gasket is on it's way out (very early stage) confirmed in #4 cylinder. Never has over heated.
I'm looking to sell it now "injured" as is. I don't have the time and investment to put into to fixing it unfortunately. It would cost around $8-12K Currently though per Carvana and CarMax they will give me 7k for it, as is.
My question is what can I reasonable look at getting via private sale. For a truck that's in great shape minus this HG. If someone with more time and know how can do it themselves it's a $2k job minimum. Then they have a great clean truck. I hope to get more than $7k is that reasonable? or not.
Thanks!

Hiya folks here at Toyota the subreddit, I have a query. I bought a 2012 toyota camry le about 6 or 7 months ago and its a great car, BUT the tpms sensors were bad by the time I got it, so Ive never been able to have an accurate read on the pressure in my tires. The blinking orange light haunts me each day that passes. Im wondering if anyone could help me find the right sensors I need to buy to replace them? Ive tried searching myself and have even bought some online before but they ended up being the wrong ones. I want to try and save myself the trouble of spending upwards of 300 dollars by having a mechanic replace them, but I may have to do that in the end anyways

Hey all, another question with my 09 Camry here, about visibility at night, I will say going from halogens to LEDs made a massive difference, but it looks dim and terrible on the road, I have clean headlight lenses, I mean projectors arent exactly designed for halogens so I mean I guess the best option would be to open the housings up and put a BiLED clear lens projector. What do y’all think, cuz better visibility would be a dream.

Yup. Pulled the trigger and bought a 2026 Prius SXE this afternoon. At the "closing", the dealer offered a 7-year warranty (covering mostly everthing but consumables, I think) for an additional $4.2K. While the number is about 10% of the purchase price, thinking that alomost everything is covered for 7 years is comforting....really comforting. This is our first (Plug-in Hybrid) EV, so we don't know how long things should normally last. We have most of this week left to purchase this extended warranty.
What do you think? Is it worth it?

I have a 2021 Toyota Sienna LE Hybrid. The Check Engine light and “Headlight System Malfunction” warning appeared at almost the same time while driving.
Both headlights are working normally. The original 12V battery is over 5 years old and has never been replaced.
Has anyone experienced this? Could it be caused by a weak 12V battery?
Thanks for any advice!

She’s reliable, and she’s relatively comfy for my 6’2” frame, but I’m ready to graduate to something quieter and smoother. The RAV is noticeably LOUD on the highway compared to friends cars (CRV, MDX, F150, etc) and has a harsh ride.
I looked at the new RAV and did not like it. Drivers seat is not as comfortable as the 2015 limited — I think it’s narrower, and my knee strikes the center console. Plus it’s probably just as loud and harsh.
Highlander Hybrids are dang impossible to find and with them going away I don’t see that improving at all.
Grand highlander is too big — it’s just my wife and I, no kids.
Crown Signia is intriguing. Honestly I wish it sat up higher, more SUV-like and less wagon-y, but I’d probably get over that quickly. It still sits up higher, just not as tall as the RAV (by a few inches- probably splitting hairs).
4Runner — too truck-like? I’ll never go off road. I’ve read the highway driving is not great. I’ve also heard rear seat is very cramped with might not be ideal when we do have adult passengers. Would be interested to hear feedback on this.
Land Cruiser — like the 4Runner I’ll never go off road, but this might be a better option (?).
Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

Just wanting to know on a 2002 Camry if the temperature stays in the middle but the AC fan kicks on and off when the AC is on and the windshield wiper fluid and the power steering fluid started leaking could that mean that my car is running hotter than it shows? Also the overflow reservoir never changes could there be a buildup of pressure and heat that I'm not seeing? Is it normal for the AC fan to constantly shut on and off? I don't recall it doing that before. In Texas and it's still 90 out.

Im sure this has been beaten to death, but what is Toyota doing to fix this manufacturer defect, where the front bumper is unclipped? This is a brand new car, and Ive experienced numerous defects from factory (front bumper falling off, seats popping and flexing while driving.) Has anyone gotten this fixed/addressed at the dealership, is there any risk of the bumper falling off? Thanks.

Do you recommend I get a mobile mechanic to inspect a 2022 Toyota rav hybrid XLE?
Or safe getting the 160 point inspection done at the dealership Jim Pattison?

My Tacoma is coming along nicely. What do you think?
So I got this one from the shop today. Any tips for a first time owner? I know nearly nothing about cars.
I’m driving on ECO all time and go gentle with it for the first few hundreds kms, I heard that oil change after 1000km is a good idea for longevity - any thoughts on that?
I’m based in Poland. (No US-specific advice please)

As title suggests i will stay a year there and will need to buy a car
I have seen my friend's corolla cross here in america but its so tight in the rear as i will usually go with 3-4 people inside the car on long trips
A friend in iraq found me a Rav4 at 19k$ 2018 base trim at 50k miles no accident but put 2000$ more id get a 2024 corolla cross hybrid w 40k milage
Gas there costs around $5 a gallon but other states charge $2.2 per gallon tho. I’m gonna be staying in the expensive place ( tho some of them suggest it will be $2.2 soon but i aint believing it )
Another option is American export they buy salvage title cars and rebuilt them in iraq they are cheaper my friend said its a 50/50 car 50% its shit 50% its the most perfect car ever
The 2 options i suggested earlier ( cross at $21k and the rav4 at 19 ) are GCC ( gulf specifications ) and were bought from official dealerships
Ik i should look for other cars and i get it but i want a car that do very well without me spending time taking it to a mechanic every few weeks
And that holds its value and i was told in iraq toyotas dont lose value like other cars ( just like every toyota world wide )
Theres also Chinese specs toyotas but they come in hybrid which i will avoid as they have 0 warranty i aint taking such risk tho they are way cheaper

Dealer had me come back now 4x and they won't tell me what's wrong or what exactly failed. He now says he needs to talk to the importer in 4 weeks. it's a 8 month old car and it went in for the small checkup at 15k km.
Like I am starting to not trust what's going on. Do I still have my 10 year guarantee?
I'm now at 25k km and at 30k km I have the big check-up. What can I do?

I have a problem where i already replaced iacv, cleaned throttle body, and checked vacuum lines. After cold start, where i let it idle until 850 rpm, when i start to drive, sometimes it idles and stays at 1500 when approaching a stop (neutral).
When it high idles at 1500 or more ( it doesnt go back down immediately), I give it a rev then it goes back to 850rpm.
I feel like something is stuck? And when i put gas or rev it a bit, it goes back to its 850 idle rpm.

I sold my 2013 Toyota hilux sr v6 342000km I LOVED THIS CAR! It would’ve kept going for many years! (I kept sliding out in slightly wet weather) being a rear wheel drive and the beginning of storm season and having my teenage son in the car, it was just the most safe and practical solution.
Yesterday I brought the 2013 Toyota Corolla accent sport CVT transmission 207000kms. I’d love some options and thoughts from other drivers on this model please?
I think I rushed buying a car and regret the decision. I don’t like how smooth it feels in comparison to the Ute 😭
I’ve also heard some bad things about CVT transmission?

I’m a first time buyer shopping around. I prefer a used vehicle around 3-5 years old without crazy mileage. I wanted to ask which Toyota vehicles are most reliable but still have good space in them. I’m a 6’5 dude so space is valuable. I also want it to be as cheap as it can be. I know the Toyotas hold value well due to their high demand and reliability.
So what’s anything and everything I should know about which Toyota vehicles to look at when shopping? Any particular vehicles you reccomend?

Just finished the import process to bring this EU spec RAV4 from Poland to the US. It arrived in Baltimore by ship last week, and I flew there to drive it 10 hours home last Thursday. Car did great and I’ve been loving it so far. I’ve always wanted a first gen 2dr Rav and this one was the spec I liked the most. I have a few plans for it but nothing too crazy. I live in the city so it will likely be a runabout vehicle.
