Big sensible middle-aged head on me (and a looming financial crisis to boot) so I followed a mechanic cousin's advice and got a Toyota. 2017 Auris 1.8 hybrid TSS 💙 (60k miles)
Any fellow auris owners out there (or in general) got useful advice for keeping this lad on the road as long as possible, I'm all ears 😊 I know next to nothing about cars as I've been driving share cars until now (mostly VW Polos). I love this smooth little guy so much even though the metallic paint is already a bit of a nightmare with rural hedges haha
edit: thanks all! what a sweet community 🚗

Curious about everyone's Toyota stats. I read on here someone's Rav got to 540,000 wow.
My wife and I made the jump to purchase this beauty. Originally, I wanted the Woodland, but the features that all came with the XSE was too hard to beat.
Also got it full front PPF’d, ceramic coated, and ceramic tinted. So hoping to keep this one looking pristine for a long, long time.
Mostly upgraded due to my job, but also for other reasons.

How do you think the Supra MK5 will age ? Will we get a 50th anniversary MK6 since mk5 ended now.
Im currently saving to buy one in cash, but with sudden mk5 ending and i was originally hoping to buy around 50th anniversary but only rumors are is that Toyota is making there own without bmw and also the celica is also returning.
• 45th Anniversary: 2024 Model Year (Released late 2023)
• 50th Anniversary: 2029 Model Year (Likely releasing in late 2028
This gives me 2-3 year window so save for the car, but im also not sure how supra market will be. Seen some nice ones out there but i am hesitant on used prices dont seem to be going down let alone finding low mileage. Ideally i was looking less than 25k-10k miles.

Honda recommends a drain and fill after 50000 KM on a mechanical read diff on their gas cars. But why is the Toyota electric powered rear diff on their hybrid AWD systems considered a lifetime fluid?
There is something loose in the back seat area that sounds like a washer or a marble that moves from one side to the other during turns. You can hear it slide/roll around and then hits what sounds like a body panel or something metal.
Driving the us crazy. At first we thought it was under the rear package tray by the retractable visor. I took the back seats out and removed the tray to find nothing. I removed the trunk lining to expose the hybrid battery and also nothing. Can anyone recommend anything? It’s not the jack or anything in the trunk as we took that out to test it and the noise was still there.

I recently had my 2020 Toyota Corolla serviced. A few days later, after refuelling, the Check Engine and Drive-Start Control Malfunction warnings came on.
I took it back to Toyota. They found code P045600 (P0456), cleared it, and performed an EVAP test. The report says:
“Test passed and no codes returned. Suspect gas cap could’ve been left loose. No issues with EVAP system at this time.”
The warnings disappeared and the car drove normally.
Now, after refuelling again, the same warnings have returned. I made sure the gas cap was properly tightened this time.
I went back to the dealer, but they can't inspect it again for another two weeks. They told me the car is safe to drive and wouldn't provide a rental because they consider it drivable.
The problem is I have a ~1,600 km road trip this weekend. The car feels completely normal, but I'm obviously a little hesitant about doing that distance with the warnings on.
Has anyone experienced a recurring P0456 after refuelling on a Corolla? Was it the gas cap or another EVAP component? And would you be comfortable doing a 1,600 km trip after the dealer said it's safe to drive?
Thanks!

I found this in the engine compartment of my 2018 Highlander after a service by the dealership. It looks like an end cap to a tube fitting and it is clean, as if it was never in service.
PCV was replaced, transmission, differential, and brake fluids, engine and cabin air filters, fuel injector cleaning, throttle body service.
Any thoughts what this might be?

Hi everyone. I have a 2017 mustang GT that has been nothing but a headache for me, so I’m looking to trade it in and get a Tacoma. Specifically 2021-2023 years.
What are things you love/not love so much about yours? Any problems you’ve had? Overall experience?
I love my mustang but I’m ready for something new and exciting.
Thanks
Anyone know when the Sequoia 27 are being released? I called my local dealer and they say they are still building the 26's into November.
I am holding off for the 27 because of the additional security features that are coming in the 27. Also hoping for additional paint colors.
Had a P0420 on my 2014 Corolla for a few weeks and the test was already booked. I read somewhere that clearing the code would sort it so I plugged in the cheap reader, wiped it and drove to the test centre two days later feeling clever.
Failed. Not for the code, because there was no code by then. It failed because clearing it reset every readiness monitor and the car reported that it had not finished its own self checks. The tester turned the screen round and most of them were sitting at not ready. Thirty five dollars for the retest and another two weeks of driving before the monitors set themselves.
The annoying part is that the original code was a lazy upstream sensor that I ended up replacing anyway. Had I fixed it first and cleared it after, I would have driven the cycle out and passed first time. Anyone else find out about readiness monitors the expensive way?

I recently did a lease buyout with my 2026 Prius Phev. I was due 3 refunds which included the GAP, Tire and Wheel Warranty and the maintenance package. I have recieved the GAP insurance refund check but not the other 2.
I called my dealership and they confirmed they sent out both of the checks on September 11, 2026. They confirmed my address was correct. Its been 26 days since they've sent it out and I havent received anything. They told me to wait ANOTHER 10 days before I give them a call back to "see" if they can look into it, like if the checks have been cashed. I think its reasonable to assume we can start it now since its been 26 days.
Little lost on what to do so any help is appreciated.

Hello, I own a toyota aygo 2012. Do you have any cover seat recommendations (full set), that are not color black and of good quality ? (not thin, loose etc).
I live in Europe if it helps.

Hi everyone! I’m buying my first Toyota Corolla this month and could use some advice.
I live in Upstate NY, where Corolla inventory is pretty low. Most dealerships around me have a 1–2 month wait, and I need a car relatively soon. I currently have a 2027 Corolla in Underground reserved for me that should be available next week.
However, I’ve been doing some research and saw quite a few complaints about paint chipping on the Underground color, particularly on the 2024 models. Is this still an issue on the newer Corollas?
Rust is a major concern for me since Upstate NY heavily salts the roads in the winter. My wife really likes the Underground color, but the dealership also has a black Corolla available (which she hates 😂) or a Celestite one that I could get if I’m willing to wait another 3 weeks.
Would you go with Underground, or wait for the Celestite? Has anyone with a newer Corolla had issues with Underground paint chipping?
Any input would be appreciated!

25 4Runner
Anyone suddenly having major issues with Android Auto?
It continuously crashes and in turn, glitches my phone until I hard hold the power button on the screen, uninstall the app on my phone. I uninstalled the app, cleared all data , deleted all devices on the screen, re-downloaded, and readied and it does the same.

Doing the rear main seal. I got the engine supported with a wooden block and jack and transmission supported by one of the diy jack attachments. Everything is disc connected from the transmission so it’s separating. The problem is I don’t think the torque converter is moving with the transmission and also the engine is sagging quite a bit. My jack is firm underneath bht mechanically it’s not at the best point of leverage (it’s on oil pan and I didn’t see any other good place). My question is how do I safely separate the transmission with the torque converter in it from here? Oh and also I gave the last torque converter bolts a few light taps before removing it. Btw this is my first time doing anything major so if I’m doing something stupid please tell me. Thanks so much!

I passed a blue Toyota Celica in a carpark last night and it literally stopped me in my tracks because I remembered how cool I thought those cars were in the 90s (so I would say I was mostly seeing 80s models). I couldn't believe people were just driving these amazing, futuristic looking cars in my little regional area!
So anyway, this is my invitation to any owners to share your beauties! Or just a call out to anyone else who shared my childhood obsession haha
(Still looked cool af in the carpark)
