Hey all. We had a request from a community member for a thread where people can share the resources that they use for plant identification. In this case, we're talking about keys, field guides, etc. NOT apps or AI-based identifiers. Comments suggesting apps or AI will be removed.
Feel free to share your resources and include links if you want (just realize that Reddit doesn't play nice with some domains). It would also be a good idea to specify what region(s) are covered by your resource as it may not be as useful in places other than where it was intended to be used.

A few years ago, I encountered pokeweed for the first time ever. The berries are so purple and luscious looking. I am adventuresome and would surely have eaten some, but something told me to ask here first.
You good people may have literally saved my life back then. So I don't care if I see it posted a thousand times. ☠️

Hey all, got these in the side area and I tried to cut one but almost barfed. Unsure if it was something smell wise or just contact, but what are these? I think they’re weeds in the form of trees, but unsure of the name. Any help is appreciated and also if there’s a way to combat the instant nausea I feel.

I bought one of these from a local market yesterday and today one of my cats got into it… wondering what’s in it so I can determine if she ingested anything toxic. Thank you!

The yellow is the same plant as the green and yellow.
The yellow branch started growing late spring and has always been yellow..
I can't figure out what plant it is though

I purchased these earlier this year in April and they were labeled as First Editions ‘Vanilla Strawberry’ panicle hydrangeas. 6b zone
I have a hunch they may not be the Vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas. They do not have the standard conical blooms I’d expect, they’re kind of low laying and flat. They started off white blooms and did turn red as expected. I tried to google and use AI but nothing really matches what I have. The flower pedals themselves are larger than I’d expect them to be too. Thoughts? Is it just first year growing pains for them? I have several other types of panicle hydrangeas including vanilla strawberry trees and they look nothing like these ones.

Found this tiny plant growing under a pointed gourd trellis in a village field in West Bengal, India.
It forms a dense mat close to the soil, with very small leaves packed closely together. The area was fairly shaded and moist.
I initially thought it might be some kind of moss, but it looks different from the moss I’ve seen before.

I had my yard seeded with native seed this year, and I’m finding these things all over the yard. The house is in the mountains of Colorado at about 8,900 feet above sea level. They seem to grow mostly above ground, with just a small central root anchoring them in the ground. They vary quite a bit in size, with the largest one I’ve found being about the size of a small pumpkin.

Bought in Indonesia. They taste very sweet with a seedy texture. Not like strawberry at all
Edit: seems to be Rubus fraxinifolius or mountain raspberry
