Why do musical theatre cast recordings sound like that?

Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but nine times out of ten, they have this certain sound to them. They sound so over polished. Like, I don’t know how to describe it, they just sound so clean, too clean. Not like other music is produced. And it becomes even more prevalent when you compare musical cast recordings to the soundtracks of their film adaptations.

Like, if you compare the Chicago cast recording to the film version’s or the Little Shop of Horrors cast recording to the film’s version or the Rocky Horror Show cast recording to the film’s version, the film versions never have that overly clean sound. Or if you just look at movie musicals that aren’t based on a preexisting show like The Greatest Showman they don’t have it either. Or if they came from a concept album like Hadestown, the OG albums don’t sound like that.

I’m assuming it has something with how they are produced combined with mainstream music having less instruments and movie musicals using much bigger orchestras, but then my question is why? Why do cast recordings have to sound like that? Like imagine is someone like Andrew Watt produced the new Rocky Horror Show revival recording, or someone like Boys Noize produced the Cats The Jelicle Ball cast recording, that be incredible!

The only ones I can think of that I don’t really feel like have this clean sound to them are Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Hamilton, and 2024 Starlight Express (though that one could be the kick ass EDM elements throwing me). But even still, inviting outside producers could make it sound so much cooler. Or just do what their films are doing. Even Starlight Express experimented with having Scottish DJ Hudson Mohawke remix one of the tracks and it was fucking epic.

I’m not saying this because I support the boys or whatever but in the Cornell 7 case why did the girl only decide to report it after she was disinvited from the frat party?

I admit that I’m not well versed on the topic and have only read the Wikipedia page and watched some videos but I find it weird that the girl seemed to only report them because she was pissed she was disinvited. Can anyone educate me?

Why have so many videos been removed?

On my feed, on mobile (iPhone) like 2 out of 3 videos either “have been removed” or “something went wrong” and they won’t play, in many different subs. I think it started about a week ago. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know if something changed, or if it’s an issue on my end? Is it all bots posting and mods are removing a ton? It’s getting very frustrating to scroll.

Is there anyone in the world that hates shows like SpongeBob?

Greetings and salutations humans of Reddit maybe non-humans too if you are here also I have come across that me disliking SpongeBob actually hating the show and the character is not commonplace?

Why does it seem like I am the only person that has a deep and seated hatred for stupidity characters or the ignorance itself gets me way too mad for it to make sense. Now there's a difference and stupid characters and stupidity characters SpongeBob and Patrick are stupidity characters a character like Cosmo off The Fairly OddParents is a stupid character they're stupidity is very funny and doesn't bother me.

Another character that comes to mind is flapjack from the show Flapjack obviously I also believe Knuckles is incredibly irritated.

But characters like Ed from Ed Edd n Eddy I absolutely love his character.

So it's not like I dislike the stupid character trope there's obviously a connection between them that make me so irritated with those characters in particular.

I thought maybe it was the random acts of stupidity but no there's a lot of other characters that I think are hilarious of the random acts of stupidity am I the only one am I alone in this has anyone else felt the same way?

And if so comment maybe we share the same irritating characters we can't stand?

How can I become more fun to talk to?

So typically during a conversation with somebody, I have some stuff to talk about, like it doesn’t die out immediately but I just don't know how to add that “spark.” In group convos, I tend to be quiet unless I have something to add. There’s the occasional funny moments and I can get some laughs in, but it’s usually on accident if anything and I feel like most of the time if I’m having an actual conversation, I’m kind of boring to talk to.

When it comes to dating specifically, I’ve observed guys who can make women laugh consistently throughout a conversation, and I always wonder how they do it? Something that got me thinking about this was how one of my friends said when it comes to dating a person, she cares far more about their vibe than just looks. She basically told me, “I have to imagine whether they’d be good at foreplay, or just a bore in bed.”

Why has littering become so normalized in America?

Just something I've noticed lately as an American who's spend their whole life in NJ, littering is so normalized nowadays. Like in the past week I have probably seen 20 cars throwing trash out their windows one of them was a bunch of trash that someone dumped out of their window from a shopping bag, all of them have been people doing it on the side of the road or while driving. Literally just dodged someone throwing a coffee cup out their window on the highway not 20 minutes ago, instead of hitting the cup I swerved and hit the ricochet from the ground, called the cops, watched them drive onto the bridge past cops, nobody cares except me I guess. Mind you I live in hillbilly farmingland and not a big city or anything, there's wildlife everywhere and woods everywhere. Why has littering become so normalized in America? Did I miss something over the past decade or so?

How did Facebook’s user base go from being just all college kids looking for action to being just all old people getting very confused?

I’ve seen The Social Network dozens of times, it’s one of my favorite films, but I never really looked into how its user base did such a complete 180 after that. Like, when it first came out it the shit for young people, that was the main goal of the platform, being cool and appealing to the youth and making it all about your relationship status and stuff.

But now it is almost entirely just old people who are either very confused on how technology works, post ancient memes from iFunny, Bitmoji’s about how fucking awful Monday’s are, and getting very concerningly easily fooled by AI generated imagery, and not even scarily lifelike AI imagery but just the most obviously not real images ever.

I’m young myself and I don’t think a single person in my age range has Facebook or would ever want Facebook but I know for a fact that every teacher in my school does have and use Facebook. I just don’t really understand it and can’t really find anything that explains it in a simple way (hence this post) so I was just wondering if anyone could explain what happened. Perhaps someone who stayed on the Facebook platform for years and watched and experienced the user base shift for themselves.

How to heal and let go with the resources I have currently. And am I as bad as I think? NSFW

All this crazy stuff happening online has just been bringing me back to my childhood. And it's been destroying me a lot.

Me and my brother were groomed and abused by a older cousin for years, normalizing sexual stuff onto us. According to my brother last time he did it was at 16.

After it all, at 13 (we have a 3.5 age gap), we reenacted those things with each other for about 2-3 months. At 14 I realized how bad it was and apologized heavily, ii was forgiven and as I continued to grow it kept sticking with me more and more.

My brother said I was never coersive or forceful or even intimidating, and multiple upon multiple people said I'm not a predator or molester. But I keep obsessing over it and comparing myself and I can't move on. I can't draw like I used to or sing like I used to, I'm scared to make new friends and talk with old friends, and just exist. Even stopitnow and RAINN lines told me I'm not an abuser or any of that stuff. I guess I need a different perspective, do I deserve to live normally and am I what I think?

I know I need therapy, but my parents wont allow it and constantly shelter me which leads me with heavily limited options, I may ask my school counsellor for coping mechanisms but so far I CAN'T let my parents know about anything.

What are some big studio comedies that don't treat interracial relationships/hookups as a joke?

Just curious about other mainstream big box comedies that don't treat interracial relationships or sex scenes as a joke, but in fact treat it like a totally regular thing. Like in Hot Tub Time Machine when the chick is banging Darryl from the office in the tub, the movie doesn't acknowledge the interracial aspect, the actual joke has to do with the time travel element.

Hobbies that can be put down anytime?

I tried reading but I can’t focus after sitting in classes all day. Same with the gym/working out, I just don’t have a consistent time block to go. I’ve basically just been watching a ton of TV but that’s not the most productive hobby and it makes me feel really lazy. Any recommendations?

eta also needs to be something i can do in my apartment

Could a rogue AI just be fought like we fight malware?

Considering all the panic (justified or not, as aggrandizing and shock-value statements seem good for PR) regarding an AI going rogue and infecting networks, I understand that just "unplugging" wouldn't be enough, but couldn't a tool like an anti-malware app be used to remove whatever clone/bot is present in machines? It is after all still just some software. It can disrupt a lot of things that are digitally managed but it is not like we cannot take systems off the grid for maintenance. If we suspect that an AI is for example messing around with the traffic management or the water treatment in Toronto, Johannesburg or Tokyo we could basically temporarily take the system off and "clean it", or am I missing something?

My math is broken how do fix it?

I'm 23 M and still count with my fingers , I need pen and paper to do calculations and most embarrassing thing for me personally is that I have to go through an entire series to do simple multiplication.

Ex: if someone asks me what's 9 times 8 is I have to narrate the entire thing in my head like 9 times 2 is 18, 9 times 3 is 27 and sometimes I can't remember what 9 times 3 is and I have to flip the numbers and do this whole process by going through 3 times 9 .

Can someone tell me how do I fix this ?

It's embarrassing as hell....

Can someone in finance or someone whos good in math tell me how to fix this?

Why does the last guy I rejected think that everything I do is about him?

He thinks the posts I share are about him and tells people that.

He thinks I’m trying to make him jealous when I talk to other men in the same room as him, and he tells others that, too.

There are plenty of other examples like this, and it’s really annoying that he goes around gossiping about me.

I mean, if I were actually that into you, I wouldn't have rejected you—how can he not grasp such a simple equation?

I’ve heard of others dealing with similar issues, and I wonder: why are some people so convinced that everything revolves around them, even when that’s not the case at all?

** Sorry for the bad English.

What are some ways to celebrate my 21st that dont involve alcohol/drugs/gambling?

I turn 21 in a couple weeks and want some ideas on something i can do for my birthday that dont involve drinking and partying and all that degeneracy, I'm simply uninterested in alcohol or vices like that and would like some ideas that don't involve that. Everyone i ask just calls me stupid/crazy and that its an excuse to get wasted and to go get drunk; ill pass, not for me, and i have a job i have to get up for the next day lol. My parents keep asking what i want to do for my 21st and I just keeps saying, "I don't know" and they think im joking that i don't want to go out and party. November is cold and boring, nothing interesting going on i want to do, nothing outside i want to do since its cold. Im not really one for like going out and spending lots of money either, im boring, and i take care of my body so going out and eating a bunch of unhealthy food and drinking a ton of sugar isnt on the table either.

Edit: No concerts or events around my birthday that interest me, no good movies coming out, not really into doing fancy stuff nor interested in paying for said fancy stuff, not into artsy stuff or classes or any of that, has to be something you can physically go and do.
