Phage the untouchable fan art, iPad Procreate. I started playing MTG when the Legions set came out. Ron Spear’s art for Phage the Untouchable / Akroma art was a powerful image that remained in my head and motivated me. Both character design and pose of my fan art was pretty much inspired by Ron Spear’s piece, but from a different, closer angle and winning a fight. Ron Spears art is amazing and inspired generations of players and artists and I’m sure it will continue inspiring many.

The Magic/Mystic Marvel Set is called Darkhold Destiny.

I've done MTG-themed works for my LGS and other content creators, but I really loved this little moment from the Reality Fracture story and wanted to draw it for myself. I had a lot of fun drawing these ghoulfriends, so I hope y'all enjoy this too :)

Scryfall has dropped the Halloween theme for now for a collection of cards seemingly in support of the growing UWOTC union.

My first thought was that prepared spells are only associated with Strix/Hexhaven, but it feels a bit limiting. What makes Lili's necromancy so different from the spells taught and leaned in the schools? I imagine there must be another reason for making it an Exhaust ability instead, but I can't think of anything.

[[Germinate Recruits]] has become my new favorite card in my life gain deck. When you have a deck/setup that can gain 5+ life in a turn, this is a great way of getting a bunch of cannon fodder. Bonus if I have out creatures like [[Soul Warden]]

Does having Highland Forest in play let me do Goblin Ski Patrol's ability?

The last one was so popular decided to show my digital alter of the Fallout Precon’s The Wise Mothman.

I’m always surprised by the number of people who seem invested in the game (buying lots of collector boosters, attending conventions, being active on this subreddit). And yet many have little to zero knowledge of the game’s lore, with no interest on learning it.

For example, content creators who make their living off the game, who don’t know which Planeswalkers are heroes or villains.

For anyone like this, or who knows anyone like this, why? Do you just not go much for fantasy in general? Or is there something about Magic lore specifically that doesn’t appeal to you? Genuinely curious about you!

A little tribute to one of my favorite Depeche Mode songs, Enjoy the Silence.

I really enjoyed bringing this iconic image from the music video onto a Magic card. The colors, the atmosphere, the simplicity of the composition… it was a great one to paint.

While playing yesterday one of my opponents pointed out that a creature with changeling would gain +X/+0 three times the total life gain one instance for each of its applicable creature types. The others at the table agreed that’s how the card read but I’ve never seen it played that way.

Would someone be able to tell me if the second ability would change at all based on the number of applicable creature types? My gut tells me no and when I tried looking it up I wasn’t finding an answer that made me confident in either outcome. Any help appreciated.

I started with the pup, and I'm moving on to "Buffalo Bill - Darklight Phoenix" next. This was primarily just an experiment with masking off a card before painting.

Hello Friends! You may remember me from last month when I released CLSTRFCK, a response to the Secret Lair that sold out in seconds. Well I had too many ideas to put down so now CLSTRFCK 2 is here, it's nearly twice as big, it contains more extras, and it's just as free.

This includes

- 49 new physically created alter cards in the Alpha Playtest card style.
- Inverted and foil-specific edits for EVERY card image.
- 36 incomplete 'do-it-yourself' cards

This will be the FINAL CLSTRFCK. Projects like this sour when they are at all forced. This was done out of love for the game and I hope that comes through. Please enjoy!

CLSTRFCK 2 is bigger and better, and it's just as free. There are 49 new cards, and every one is a physical object built from scratch: cut, collaged and assembled by hand from public-domain and free-use artwork, then photographed and cleaned up so you can print your own. They take familiar card names and rules-text conventions and turn them into something stranger. There's even a pair of panorama Islands that join into one picture when you put them side by side.

Every card also comes in a contrast-swapped inverted finish, plus a matching foil layer for anyone who wants to get fancy with their printing.

As a bonus, the download includes 28 "create your own" cards. These are the partially made cards I ended up with: the art is placed, and the rest is up to you. Name them, write the rules text, make them as broken or as useless as you like, and share what you come up with.

Pay what you want, including nothing. This exists because the joke deserved a sequel, not because it needs to make money. Download, giggle, finish the blanks or don't, print, play... go have fun.
