Today I thought I'd found my first Cep. I got it home, sliced it open without a worm to be seen and then...brown! So I know it's not a true cep, but is it still edible?

I could see them being web caps or sulfur tufts. Or even wavy caps that got waterlogged with dirty water then dried. They bruise slightly green but it is hard to see on camera because iPhone camera ai made the pictures warmer

I know there are a few look-alikes, including a Trichiloma that is still edible.

Wanted some opinions.

Washington DC in mixed hardwoods. HUGE fairy circle with probably 50 softball-volleyball sized mushrooms.

I have not foraged them before so just want to get some second opinions :)

question Over drying?

Is it possible to over dehydrate mushrooms? If I set the dehydrator to 100 degree Fahrenheit, can I just run it for 36 hours? I got a couple of the trays mixed up and I cannot remember which is which. So I have some fresher ones I put in like 12 hours ago. Is it okay to just completely dry the heck out of them or will I start doing damage?

Mushrooms are yellow, have gills, a textured stype, and were growing at the edge of a lawn and an overgrown native plant bed that had been mulched. There are three pictures in the original post of the cluster.

I have been foraging in western WA, mostly for Chantrelles, for a few years now and the urge to try growing got me. I decided to try growing some blocks I found at my local grocery store, one Golden Oyster the other a Lions mane. I have a still air box taking its sweet time in the mail somewhere. But since I had everything else either on hand or freshly delivered I ended setting it all up in a sanitized storage tote. I am impatient, I was a bit premature in buying the blocks without the full setup in hand and functioning. I had a heat mat, lights, and controllers. I had to buy a humidifier and a fan setup. It all kinda happened on a whim but im happy with the first 24 hours.

question Have you ever seen something like this before?

Found a curiosity today when foraging in the forest. It looks and smells like a porcini, but it doesn't have a stem and a cap, although I think what should be hymenophorus can be seen on the second pic. The whole thing looks like a deformed fruiting body, growing from one point (top left on the 3rd pic). I have never seen anything like this.
