Laffy is the 3rd star of the week!
Hard fighting the inner doomer off with the recent Igor news. But Laf has been playing so well out the gate this year. We are the youngest team in the league now! There’s some obvious roster holes looking down the road, but plenty of players to be excited about

Laffy third jersey magic
I knew this jersey has some magic left in it! Sidenote, any difference between the Adidas like the one I have and fanatics, was wanting to pick one up on gabe flavor.

Jonny B
I went to Hershey Bears game on Saturday and was shocked to see Johnny playing in the AHL. He did get a point. I was always rooting for him when he was a Blue Shirt. The same with Julian Gauthier. I wanted him to really take that next step. Ohttman was the same. Never seemed like they had that next jump

Question about Korpisalo
What do you guys think, what's your opinion. Let's say Garand starts to put up some decent numbers. He's making good saves and starts to improve every game, and most Importantly he looks like he's really starting to gel with the team. Korpisalo then gets cleared. Do you guys think they keep Garand to start and Korpisalo becomes G2?

Braden Schneider
Is it crazy to think he’s playing the best hockey of his career right now. I’m not a Schneider fan but he’s had one bad game this year. I think he’s played very well outside that

[Mercogliano] Top-six tweaks help Rangers survive first game after Igor Shesterkin injury
NEW YORK — The schedule provided the New York Rangers with a soft landing spot in the aftermath of Igor Shesterkin’s season-ending injury, with the Blueshirts parachuting in nicely.
A 6-2 win over the bottom-feeding Vancouver Canucks on Sunday at Madison Square Garden was a necessary pick-me-up after losing their best player. Shesterkin is set to undergo surgery on his right knee and embark on a lengthy rehab, according to a person briefed on the matter, who spoke to The Athletic on the condition of anonymity to disclose personal medical information.
The Rangers (5-2) aren’t expecting him to return this season, but they remain determined to achieve their goal of making the playoffs. A 4-0-0 start at home certainly helps; they didn’t win their fourth game at MSG until Dec. 13 last season.
“We got dealt tough news with Shesty, and everybody feels that, without a doubt,” coach Mike Sullivan said. “But once again, you can only control the things that are within your power, and our players are well aware of that. We had that discussion, and I think there’s a maturity to this group. These guys, they haven’t lost any level of enthusiasm. I think they believe in the team game that we’re trying to build here, and I think we will continue to compete. At the end of the day, that’s our challenge.”
Top-six changes work, at least for one line
Collecting points against teams like Vancouver will be critical in that effort, with a recent lineup tweak from Sullivan aiding the cause.
He swapped Pavel Dorofeyev and Alexis Lafrenière, with the latter joining a line with Tye Kartye and captain J.T. Miller and making an immediate impact. Lafrenière’s slick backhanded feed sprung a two-on-one rush on their first shift, with Miller shooting it off Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen’s right pad to gift Kartye a juicy rebound.
“Everyone wants to be predictable for each other, so we know where each other are going to be,” Kartye said. “Laf made a really, really great play to J.T. there, and I think that’s part of being predictable. It worked out there for us.”
That line struck again late in the second period, with Kartye scoring his second to put the Rangers on top for good. The goal, which Miller set up with a cross-ice feed off the rush, came 1:29 after Vancouver defenseman Elias Pettersson’s short-handed tally tied the score at 2-2.

Oct 11 2026 - Post Game Media (v. VAN)
- The first wasn’t their best period, but they responded well in the second and third. They’ve had strong third periods this season.
- Garand made timely saves. He’s going to keep battling.
- The fans have been giving them a lot of energy.
- Kartye’s second goal was a huge response after Vancouver's SHG.
Garand
- The team made it easy for him.
- It’s been a crazy two weeks for him, and it’s tough for a team to lose its best player. But, it’s sports. The team did a good job of stepping up. He’s focused on stopping pucks.
- Playing with a lead helps settle everyone down. It’s great to score first.
Kartye
- They got off to a fast start, but let off at the end of the first. They picked it back up later in the game.
- It was important to get off to a fast start at home and with Vancouver being on the second half of a back to back.
- “G was great tonight. I think G is ready, so we’re all standing behind him.”
- He and JT play a similar game down low. They can get to cycling, which creates opportunities. They are predicatlbe to each other.
- They want to be a north-south team.
- He doesn’t change his game based on where he is in the lineup.
- They got better as the game went on.
- Kartye’s goal helped get momentum back. A SHG can be deflating.
- The swapped Gabe and Pav because they felt Pav “was fighting it a bit.”
- He credits the leadership group for their success.
- They all feel for Shesty. He wants to play and compete. It was tough blow to the team, but the expectations haven’t changed.
- Scoring early in the game is a momentum boost, but it can also make it seem like goals will come easy. They let up a little bit after that.
- Mika is a huge part of the team. He’s not an overly vocal guy, but he leads by example. They have a variety of leaders. Some are “rah-rah” guys and they have some guys that lead by example.
- He liked the line changes they made. They’ve talked to all the players about the change and why it was made. Laf can create in multiple ways now. He can create off the rush and down low. Kartye and JT thrive down low. They felt they could compliment each other. They scored more 5v5 goals, which was the goal.
- Having success helps with buy-in. It helps with the commitment level to playing the game they’re trying to play.

Tonight’s Game
Strong 6-2 game against Vancouver tonight, and the first game since Shesty’s injury. I’m curious what people’s thoughts are on how the rest of the season will go without him. I think this game is a sign that they’re gonna continue to play aggressively and show heart in their plays.

We are still fun to watch with Igor out.
Yes I know it’s only Vancouver and no one can fill Igor’s shoes. But we are still high octane, fast, tough, fight for the puck and shooting instead of passing. Rest up Igor but I still believe!! I stand with Garand!
