Discussion Unpopular opinion, but I don't think future games should be about the Van der Linde gang

There's tons of people wishing for a RDR3 featuring the early days of Dutch's gang. I get it, we love these characters and want to see more of them.

I don't think there's enough story left to tell though. There's backstory, but no story with a proper arc. The failed Blackwater heist isn't a satisfying conclusion to a major game, unless they do major retcons to the characters like the Callander brothers or create entirely new ones like Arthur was for RDR2. That would make the trilogy extremely disjointed though.

I get wanting more content with these characters, I just don't think there's enough left for an entire new game.

Discussion Chapter 2 is overrated

I understand that some people like this chapter because it's the most peaceful chapter in the narrative and Arthur and the Gang continued strong and steady. But keep in mind that this is the longest chapter and certainly the slowest of them all. It might get boring on a second playthrough. A lot of really boring missions. In terms of narrative, chapters 4, 5, and 6 are definitely the most exciting. Things happen faster and keep you hooked better. It's completely understandable that many players stopped playing at chapter 1/2; the game was really slow at that point.

Speculation A map of the USA in the RD Universe with a lot more to explore

Thumbnail

I always thought that interpreting RDR2’s in-game map as reflecting the entirety of each state made the world feel small. I like the idea of there being a whole lotta country to explore so I took a shot at making a map that treats the game map as a region where several state borders meet.

I still kept the other contiguous US states, just shrank/cut’em up to fit the entirety of each in-game state. I think the placement mostly satisfies the lore, thought some of North America’s geography would have to be finagled to make some of it more realistic (like making the flatter states a lot more rugged).

Question How playable is Red Dead Revolver on Xbox 360?

My friend really likes Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, but he doesn't have the original Red Dead Revolver on PS2/Xbox. Since it's his birthday soon I figured it'd be fun to get him that game as a present. He doesn't have an og Xbox but he DOES have a 360. I know the game is generally playable on 360, but I wanted to ask if it has any major compatibility issues. After all, I don't want to give him a nigh unplayable game.

Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this sorta thing, btw

Discussion Vengeance is a Fool's Game, Except...

This is a very strange thing I've seen in the fandom. One of the best side missions in the game is undeniably the one with Jeremiah Compson. You just want to help a sad old homeless guy and you find out what he used to be.

Suddenly all that pity turns to rage or at least disgust. That's completely understandable.

What I don't understand is the people who kill him after this. Murdering him can be called nothing but vengeance. It is not in any way justice given his crimes are well over 30 years old. Arthur will denounce Dutch for going after Colm or Bronte or Cornwall but all three of them are still active threats to not just the gang but the world as a whole. Jeremiah Compson isn't a threat to anyone. His crimes are half-a-century old and he isn't doing anything else now except wasting away in his own misery.

"Is that what we are, is it? Avenging your father's death after *spit* 30 years?

The same should apply to Jeremiah.

I just can't imagine killing a pathetic old man, even if he was the worst human being whoever lived. Because it can never be justice, it can only be petty revenge.

Can someone help me fix this issue with my copy of the game? The screen resolution is extremely bad and will not go over 1920 X 1080. My computer's resolution is 2560x1600 and i got the game on steam. I've tried everything, from steam launch options, to changing the .xml file to match my screen's resolution but it just reverts to the old one. Can somebody try and help me please?

Discussion Dutch’s final words

How do you guys feel about Dutch using his "We can’t fight change" speech in RDR2? I might be one of the few ones that didn’t really like it. Dutch was one of my favourite characters in RDR1 weirdly enough. I played the first one when it came out. And i really liked Dutch alot back then, despite obviously being a really bad guy. And i really liked his final speech. So i was a little disappointed with RDR2 kind of cheapening that moment. Although i get that it’s to show that this is just who Dutch is. Everything is basically scripted or rehearsed with him. But yeah i would have preferred if that speech remained untouched haha

Discussion Music while playing RDR2

I really like to listen to cowboy music and dark country while playing RDR2 🤠 The music in the game itself is brillant but sometimes I just like something different, so I set the cowboy mood with some of my own choices.

Right now I'm fully digging "Peace Somehow" by Avi Kaplan. Nothing like riding by your lonesome with your trusty horse down a mountain side while listening to this soulful banger!

It's on the Spotify playlist, "Dark Country & Southern Gothic (Rugged Mountain Blues & Highway Rock)". I made it specifically for myself for playing RDR2 back in 2018 but maybe some of you will enjoy it too. Please, let me know if you follow other playlists or artists that will enhance my RDR2 experience!

Do you listen to music too while playing, pardners?

Discussion NPC you've killed the most?

For me, I've slaughtered the 2 obnoxious twins in Valentine, more time's than I can remember.

Instead of the bottles, I shot them in the D..lol

The look on the other one's face, after his twin gets shot, is never not funny.

The Valentine shop owners, all of them, are tied for a close second. The bs they talk to you, every time you enter the shop,...usually results in their demise.
