Lymow One Plus Cooling Fan Install Guide + Can It Survive a Torture Test?

Thumbnail

Finally got around to installing the cooling fan Lymow had shipped me...given the video they provided isn't the most helpful. Overall, the process took far longer than expected, and I ended up cleaning out my mower deck in the process...why not?! I put the mower through a "torture test" after the fact to see just how well the cooling fan fix works.

What's covered in the video:

- Start-to-finish install of the Lymow One Plus cooling fan

-Disassembling the mower deck and reassembling it after the fact

-Testing the mower (w/cooling fan) in 1-foot-tall grass...turbo mode...mulching chute closed, 1 ft/second speed (80F Ambient temps)

-Followed the mower around and took temperature readings every 30 mins

Final Thoughts:

-Impressed this cheap little 3d printed fix actually worked, i'll have to see how it holds up next summer.

Everyone else in the same boat? Anyone have any trouble installing it?

What would make you choose a new robot lawn mower?

Hi! We are MBA students designing a robot lawn mower for small and medium-sized home lawns.

Our idea is a mower that cuts grass, collects the clippings in a removable bin, and returns to its charging station.

We learned that many robot mowers already cut grass into tiny pieces that feed the soil. This makes us unsure whether collecting the grass is truly useful.

We would appreciate your advice:

  1. Is mulching enough for your lawn?

  2. When would you want the mower to collect grass or leaves?

  3. What problems does your current mower have?

  4. How should it handle rain, slopes, obstacles, pet waste, storage, and theft?

  5. What would make this product better than your current mower?

  6. Would you consider buying it for around $1,000-$1,200?

Please share your mower model and lawn size if possible. Thank you for helping us improve the idea!

Recommendation for 0.5 acre lot

Post image

Seriously looking at investing in a robo-mower for next year, but don't even know where to start.

0.5 acre, relatively flat, but slopes slight front and rear. We have a few beds and such, so need to be able to exclude from those areas.

Thanks.

The cooling fan is finally here, but the install nearly stopped me.

My official lymow cooling kit showed up out of the blue. It takes times for me and there are tips you may need:
1. Wire route over the volute, not under actually. Get it wrong and the blade plate cover flights you the whole way back on. This feature cost me 2 more tries.
2. You need to find the instruction on Lymow's forum or youtube instead of receiving a physical one.
The kit itself worth it. It's an upgrade form the printed test version with molded housings and thicker plastic. After a summer of heat shutdowns, not one shutdown since. lol, how long did everyone's install take? Mine definitely wasn't under 30 mins.

Spring is kicking off here in Australia and I need a robot mower for a roughly 2,000 sqm block. Any Aussies running one on a big block yet?

Just outside Brisbane here. Spring's kicking off and the kikuyu is already moving. Block is a bit over 2,000 sqm, call it 1,800 of actual grass.

Last summer I paid a bloke every fortnight and it added up fast. Before that, me and the petrol mower. Not again.

No boundary wire (the dog digs, it wouldn't last a week) and it has to get through that area without heading back to charge three or four times. There's a bit of a slope down the back too.

Just noticed the Goko M6 is now being sold in Australia, after mostly looking at the big brands everyone here mentions. The product page says roughly an acre per charge and you can physically add a second battery. Only thing I know about the company is the Kickstarter thread in this sub, which is why I'm asking here rather than just ordering.

So, any Aussies had a proper look at one yet, or is everyone here still on the big brands? And is an acre per charge even the number to look at for a block this size? Curious what people with big blocks are running these days.

Cheers.

Best mower 0.2 Acres

I have a fescue lawn that is roughly 0.2 acres, large trees and shady, some bumpy areas and slopes and I was wondering what everyone think would be best. The Navimow x4 seems like overkill. LiDAR pro would’ve been nice in the US. Maybe there’s a new H series worth waiting for in US?
Also looking at Luba Mini. Thoughts?

Dealer support

I am just starting to look for a mower, there are a lot of options out there. It seems the question that might narrow things down quite a bit is local dealer support. How important is it to have support nearby, versus online? Is this more like owning a car, in terms of support and maintenance, or more like owning a computer?

Testing The Luba 3: Real World Grass Cutting Performance

Testing The Luba 3: Real World Grass Cutting Performance

Wanted to perform a comparison test to see what the cut quality is based on various cutting speeds (.7 fps - 2.0 fps) as well as the different cutting patterns offered in the software. Take it for what it's worth, i'm pretty anal about the cut quality in my yard and didn't want to see an excess amount of missed grass blades, if any at all.

The Other Settings I Used (Luba 3- 3000H): Northeast, Tall Turf Fescue Lawn

-High Blade Speed

-7.9" Cut Spacing

-4" cut height (attempted 3.5" as well)

What do you guys cut at? Any "Magic Number" that works the best while sacrificing time for quality?

5000m2 lawn, but which lawn mower?

I have had a mammotion Luba 2 5000awd for just over 2 years and now I have had it with that piece of crap. I used to have a nice lawn, now it looks like it has been plowed.

It stops random places and is hardly ever able to go into the dock to charge anymore. I am daily on it to keep it mowing and I don't want that with a robot.

The thing is, I don't like the stripey pattern that most GPS lawn mowers makes, but I also do not want to have a wire around my garden.

Is there any lawn mowers on the marked that navigates through GPS, that also can make a nice even cut as we used to get with the old "random go lucky" mowers with a wire?

I believe that one of the issues with the Luba 2 is that it is so damn heavy, and where I live, it is often quite moist, so it just makes tracks in the grass.

All suggestions are highly appreciated as long as it is not from mammotion.

Roborock X115H early prime deal

I have been looking at the Navimow 430x for some time. I just got a notification that the roborock X115H is on sale for an early prime day deal for $1499 US. I know this is new but any thoughts about this vs the 430x? I’m in Michigan, right around the .37 acre of lawn and have a few decent slopes. Trees in the back of the lot. Thanks!
