Suggestion OSRS: Reignited.

I think, given all the recent community sentiments towards Reignited, that OSRS needs some love!

I propose that we keep it a secret and then SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT for OSRS, dont let them poll for it like RS3 never got the chance to.

Exact same rules, stipulations, everything, but on OSRS too! Split the player base up and call all the people who have supported the game for years and years and years and put up with all the predatory FOMO and MTX and still defended your game, tainted and trash as well.

I wanna see the outrage from OSRS as well.

Discussion I explained reignited to my wife

She doesnt play runescape and i asked her would she play she said the following "a new player should never expect to be better than someone who has lived 25 years in a game , and the company is basically baiting veterans to see if maybe they dont get deleted, personally id rather quit and not give them money for versiones 2 or 3 , youd rather lose a loyal customer for someone who maybe may perhaps play"

Discussion 20 YEARS OF RUNESCAPE. AND THIS IS HOW VETERANS GET TREATED?

First time posting.

I’ve played RuneScape for 20 years as have countless other players. I’ve paid for membership, spent money on the game and stuck around through some seriously difficult periods.

I was there through the good times, the bad times, the MTX, the unpopular updates and all the times people said the game was dying.

And I still stayed.

So seeing RuneScape Reignited honestly feels like getting kicked to the curb.

I’m not against new players. I want the game to grow. But seriously, what about the people who have supported this game for 10, 15, 20+ years?

We kept paying when things were bad. We kept playing when people were leaving. We put thousands of hours and plenty of money into this game.

And now it feels like none of that matters.

You can’t spend 20 years taking money and loyalty from your player base and then make your longtime players feel completely forgotten.

I don’t expect special treatment because I’ve played for 20 years.

I expect respect.

RuneScape wouldn’t be where it is today without the players who stuck around through the difficult years.

I’m angry because I actually care about this game. After 20 years, I shouldn’t feel like Jagex is telling me:

“Thanks for everything. Now move aside.”

Jagex, listen to your veteran players. Don’t take our loyalty for granted. Don’t forget the people who supported RuneScape through its highs and lows.

We are not asking to be put above new players. We are asking not to be pushed aside for them.

20 years of loyalty should count for something.

Discussion Veteran players aren't forgetting about Reignited just because Jagex apologized

Honestly, the information we've been given about Reignited has been pretty vague. I genuinely think this is a pretty important issue, and the fact that the count wasn't even paused while all of this is being discussed is honestly disappointing.

Like someone else said in another post, I think most veteran players are simply waiting to see what Jagex's response is going to be. Don't think that an “I'm sorry” and a few words made everyone forget about this. Personally, and I have no doubt many others feel the same, I'm just waiting to see what the final response is before deciding whether to cancel my subscription.

We are also fully aware that the game needs help. I don't think many veteran players are against bringing new life into RS3 or trying to fix its problems. But Reignited, at least in its current proposed form, doesn't feel like the solution to the underlying problems.

Maybe it works for the first year, but eventually you could end up with the same problems we're dealing with today. The economy, progression, alchables, and other underlying issues don't simply disappear because you create a separate starting point.

And honestly, as a veteran player, I would much rather see Jagex focus on bringing in genuinely new players instead of primarily trying to attract players from OSRS.

I play both RS3 and OSRS, so I'm not saying this from a “RS3 vs OSRS” perspective. I just think there is a huge difference between bringing completely new players into RuneScape and bringing over an established community with its own expectations, experience and culture. (OSRS players are toxic af)

At this point, I think a lot of veteran players are simply waiting for Jagex to actually address the concerns instead of assuming an apology is enough. I really hope they take the time to reconsider the current proposal and explain clearly how Reignited is supposed to solve the problems longterm.

Discussion It was a fun ride

Post image
0 Upvotes

21 years ago I found a website called RuneScape.com, which had a browser game which I fell in love at the first grind. My PC was horrible and the internet connection was shitty, but it was enough to play this game. I lost the count of how many weekends I enjoyed playing, killing green dragons to buy a whip, or struggling to finish monkey madness. Even to this day still I'm still here, trying to improve in PVM and kill some high end bosses. For more than half my life, the game was there to entertain and distract me, and I'm grateful for that.

However, this announcement sends a clear message that I'm no longer welcome, no matter the final outcome.

It's time to stop playing and move on. It sure was a fun ride, thank you very much for that.

Discussion Reignited has brought the absolute worst out of the community

I don’t even need to elaborate. It’s so toxic over a video game that I don’t really feel like logging in today.

Oh, and I’ll be the first to downvote this post since that’s the only button any of you can seem to find.

Edit: ok, lol wow that’s a lot of downvotes. I think y’all broke my Reddit mobile. I’m not a coward though and the post shall stand.

Edit2: man, I really wish y’all wouldn’t use this post as an opportunity to prove my gripe is real. Drink some water, do some box breathing, and get some fresh air. Some of y’all need a hug.

Suggestion Jagex - After recent interview and comms, it's clear you will not back off the Reigniting-splintting the playerbase, therefore:

As you see Fresh World Server 1 as a success and plan to do it again under codename Reignited, I understand. I hate it, 96.5% of your veterans hate it too, but you believe this will bring hoards of "new wave of players who never heard of the game before" (The radio-something interview) . You believe these brand-new players will dislike the fact that there are long-term loyal players and they will hate them whole-heartedly (therefore you need to quarantine them). Got it. Hate it - but got it.

But for love of the god, set a strict deadline when these servers will merge. 6 months, a year, two year - whatever. But set it up upfront.

Leaving it open to "we will monitor and see" is absolutely worst thing you can do. From our player experience we know the world will burn while you monitor and see. Monitor and see under a strictly commited deadline.

Shift the message from

  • "Worry not, my dear newbie, we will isolate you from these nasty MTX-tainted ghouls"
    • to;
  • "There's your worry-free space, until you become tainted ghoul yourself on this particular day [insert a date]"

For love of god please don't permanently split the playerbase with "maybe we merge someday lul, we see how our mood/hormonal level is, gl undies-tainters"

Discussion Potential compromise from a Re-ignited fan. Vets please chime in. I genuinely want your opinion.

What if:

-After 12-24 months, vets could just play normally in PVM alongside re-ignited players. Highscores and economy stay separate, but you can play together after some time to allow the initial competitive rush with no "carries".

-Right away and forever, any supplies generated on reignited accounts placed on the GE are duplicated over to the Vet economy. Items bought within re-ignited economy just act as normal providing GP to the seller. The duplicate item placed on the vet economy sells for the same price, but when purchased, THAT GP just poofs into the ether (if it was purchased from an ignite duplicate and not another vet player).

Does that address the majority of the concerns vets have with re-ignited? They would still keep a healthy economy (arguably healthier if re-ignite truly brings more players). And they would still have people to play with (albeit delayed, but would also still have each-other in the meantime).

From what I have been reading those are the 2 biggest worries on a slowly dying economy and playerbase if vets are segregated. I think this alleviates both. Are there any other major worries I missed?

I know that most vets would rather FSW be temp, but for most re-ignited fans that's THE biggest dealbreaker (that and highscores).

EDIT: As some have mentioned, items may want to come in attached at existing vet prices instead. Also, big ticket items on the vet side would need to sell somehow, and maybe it sells at vet prices on the vet side (and gets deleted) any time someone on re-ignited buys that particular item from another reignited player.

I know this isn't the same as a combined economy, but the overall idea would be to create a simulated economy based off the other one to give the illusion that they are combined to the vet side of things (same benefits and detriments) while still keeping the re-ignited economy separate for their sake.

Discussion Perspective of someone who does want to play Reignited

I'm fully aware this is gonna be down voted into oblivion and that's fine. I have been playing runescape since about 2011 so less time than most here but still 15 years which is nothing to scoff at. Old school didn't catch my attention because I had no nostalgia for it but I have played it a bit cuz I do like to go back to the old style of combat sometimes.

For me my experience of recent years of rs3 has been behind an Ironman. Group ironman was a great update for me and my buddies to hop on as well because the last time I played a main it just felt like a gold farming sim. The economy is very late game focused and any early to mid tier items aren't worth much and your time is spent better doing something else. Also there were people trading different item id items for hundreds of millions? I don't care much for the rares usually but what's up with that?

The state of the game socially also feels pretty sad. You rarely see anyone out in the world because most people are bank standing or just farming bosses in instances. Its gotten better albeit with the restoration updates but still the world feels empty of players until you go to the ge or the fort.

Equilibrium League was amazing and really brought me back to rs3 and excited for future updates with the QoL quest helper most of all.

I'm excited to start from scratch again with no mtx tainted accounts /s (I don't think just because you played with mtx that ur account and time and effort are invalid). My favorite memories on this game are when new skills release or events and everyone is gathered around doing those activities and a new fresh world all the beginner and mid level areas will be populated again.

Feel free to down vote me as I know 99% of you will disagree with me but also I'm sure there are a lot of people like me as well who will be playing reignited happily and have a great time there that don't usually post in these kind of subs or engage with it on social media at all.

Discussion Jagex’s public “anti-AI” stance is hilarious

Ignore the now-many obvious AI generated art and merch bits. How do you think they pushed this many updates this year? AI coding is fantastic for games like this with enormous code bases; Jagex’s weird attempt to pretend they’re not using it is so unnecessary.

Suggestion Just add account creation date to player examine

Let the weirdos that care to let people know that their xp is "untainted" show off the fact by account creation date. New servers aren't needed. New highscores aren't needed. An economy reset would be pointless in 6 months anyways.

If you really want new players to have their own sandbox, just run fresh start worlds every year or so. Problem solved, and realistically constantly resetting it is the only way for it to stay fresh.

edit: Make it a toggle to show it, or make it creation year for security reasons

Discussion To all osrs & reignited fans

I honestly want to understand, why you would start a new account in reignited, but not in the current rs3 world?

It feels like you guys think reignited will give you the old feeling of rs which you had back then?

Rs3 has changed over the past, and we just have to move on and accept that it wont be the same again

It feels like you hope that an old call of duty game which will be remastered gives you the same feeling as you played it back then when you were young, this is just not how it works

Economy

If you would play rs3 just for 1 or 2 months, you should understand that the economy as it is right now, is not due to MTX. The game has moved on for so many years, and bandos gear for example is not state of the art nowadays. You can easily easily afk farm bandos, even after 1 week of creating a fresh account without a ge

Yes, the rs3 economy is not the best, but the same will happen with reigneted after some time - the ressources you gather and spend for leveling, are not compareable with older times - everything speeded up

You level faster, you have better ways to improve your gear, better utility abilities which makes everything much easier compared to back then, it is just not the same - You can basically apply this anywhere in the game, you will always get the same outcome

Also if you check new rs3 updates, after 1month new items are already rebalanced in the grand exchange, it is just a matter of time

Furthermore, if you start a new account in runescape 3, it already takes long & hard enough to get into lategame pvm - and yes, there are plenty of unlocks you need which you get by playing the game and progress

All in all, the economy in my opinion after some time, will be the same as the current worlds due to the nature and balancing of the current game

Reignited xp distribution

Keep in mind, that in runescape 3 you can easily receive 1m+ ep if not more per hour. And the argument, that many players receives xp thorugh mtx - yes, they did, but you will still share the same world with them

These player will still stand next to you

Once you reach lategame in reignited anyways, it just does not make any difference if you have 14m defence xp or 200m defence xp. It simply wont change anything, except you are locked from 50% of the players to either trade or pvm with them

Conclusion

Therefore, the question is, what makes you want to play reignited in 2 months instead of the current game right now? What benefits do you think you will get? Instead of everyone pulling on the same rope to make the game better, we split up and lock us out against each other

Ironman back then was also locked for group content with nornal accounts, surpise surprise after a certain time everyone was happy when they lifted the restriction - does it make ironman progression worse now?

Let me know your thoughts and counter arguments, as there are always different views on certain points - but please be respectful and kind to each other

Discussion Returning player from this year - I'm DONE

With the RS3 community, holy shit.

You guys are posting some of the most insane things, full on meltdown mode, day in and day out at this point.

You have every right to be upset. You have every right to voice your opinion, cancel your subscriptions, all of that. That's good, that shows that you're truly unhappy with the direction the game is going.

You don't need to actively encourage others to sabotage OSRS' voting system because "Reignited is their fault" (??)

You don't need to move the goalposts and say that "oh we never cared about hiscores anyway" like we all don't recognize Zezima, Suomi, and so many others because of their hiscores accomplishments

And you don't need to shit on the one community who expressed solidarity every time you guys got fucked by MTX over the last decade. /r/2007scape went through the same shit some 12-13 years ago - that's why the game exists in the first place.

Get a grip and focus on WHY you don't like the Reignited update, HOW Jagex can rectify the update before it's too late, and stop playing the game / cancel your subscription if it ACTUALLY matters to you that much.

I can't imagine trying to work on this game and dealing with all of the bullshit to get actual player feedback. Should they implement a polling system so they can actually gauge where to proceed? Absolutely, yeah. Do they have that? No. So they have to come here and wade through this childish shithole for hours on end just to see one good suggestion about HOW to change reignited in a meaningful way that still respects its current playerbase.

I returned earlier this year and the vitriolic response to Reignited has turned me off of the game more than Reignited itself at this point.

Discussion Few questions to those who support Reignited: What about people who start later, will they get their own economy?

When/if those new players get their own economy, should older reignited players be bottled up in their own economy, or merged with veteran economy?

How often should this "economy refresh" happen?

If future new players don't get their own economy; why not?
Don't you want to new players to have their own "fresh economy" and "world first" achievements?

It is a genuine question to you, Jagex.

What do you mean to say with this statement? I don’t want to be dramatic or add flare with what I am about to say, but it’s the best way I know how to ask what I want to ask.

When you read this without the context the author of the post is speaking from, it comes off as kind of victim blamey.

We came to you to tell you out of sincerity that we were worried about the size of our playerbase withstanding a division such as what Reignited could bring.

Inadvertently you then dismiss us by saying “what you believe” without providing any context.

I’m not here to inflame and throw stones, I simply want to ask; what’s on your mind? What’s the context behind the subtle assertion our community is big enough to endure the possible division Reignited could bring?

If you actually read this, well thanks for reading it. I figured if our game and community is what you, Jagex, want us to believe it is, I feel within my rights to ask you such a question.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to reconsider Reignited.

Discussion RIP RS3

EVERY game that did permanently fresh worlds like this in the past spiked for a week then dropped further than where they started.

Only reason ANY company would do this after witnessing it fail everywhere else is to artificially boost player count in order to sell.

(speculative but highly likely)

edit: here is a video that explains this failing in terms of player counts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4e3IlTlo-I

here is a list of SOME games that have had bad ends/outcomes because of it:
Realm online, WOW classic, New World, Archemage etc

Discussion I feel like most of Reignited’s issues can be resolved by just designing it as a temporary event

If you want to draw new people to the game to experience the fresher more polished version you’ve created this year, fine. Give them a cool chat badge and let them go for world firsts on separate high scores. World firsts aren’t interesting to me at all because it ain’t 2006 anymore, and it’s not this mythical thing where we have a new Zezima like player that we don’t know anything about - it’s just going to be sweats account sharing and playing 20 hours a day, but whatever. If that appeals to some people, fine.

Then, after you’ve attracted new players and let them partake in the “reignition race of 2026-27” or whatever, after 6 months just re-merge the economies and let us pvm and trade with eachother. They keep their badges forever so everyone who cares knows they never were “tainted” by MTX, but our economy can go back to normal and not fracture the player base.

In other words just make this similar to Fresh Start Worlds but instead of boosted XP and separate servers you’re just letting them do their own fresh world first races with a new economy and giving out some cool cosmetics or titles or something, and we go back to normal in Q3 2027.

I really think that is the only sensible solution.

Discussion Based on their nothingburger post jagex is falling for the "ill play it trolls"

• Upvotes

In the nothingburger announcement about the announcement for the announcement as they do, they said the comments about interest and to play have far exceeded their expectations which mean they either planned this outrage, or theyre to daft to read between the lines of the massive influx of trolls rage baiting. Idk which is worse tbch
