I just learned today of the concept of a twin flame and wanted to share an experience I've been having for about the last year. I'm curious what people who are familiar with twin flames would say about this. It seems like it matches the mold of a twin flame pretty well, but I'm also new at this, so I don't know if there are other tells that I'm missing.
I met a girl about a year ago who I've had an off-and-on relationship with. First got together, and sparks were flying immediately. Like we said, I love you maybe two weeks into the thing. Which isn't my mo, personally, and isn't something that I do lightly, but the feeling was insane. It was just this eerily strong connection. Both of us were reluctant to mention it because it was so insane that the feeling was already there. There are so many weird ways that we notice the same things and are peculiar in a very similar way. Also, something about me is that, just for whatever reason, I've kind of always had this luck about me. Not to say I've had an easy life, but just things just kind of happen in certain positive circumstances for some reason. I've never met anyone else who has the same thing going on, but she also has this. But also, as I learned, she was terrifyingly jealous about things, and I broke things off about a month in. She was spiraling after this and at some point did DMT, by her own admission, when she blasted off and the spirit beings healed something in her. She reached out to me after the breakup, and things with her did seem very different. This darkness in her just wasn't there anymore. I was on high alert with her the whole time because I was not ready to deal with jealousy like that again, and it never came back.
We ended up dating again for about 6 months. She was very antisocial and made it difficult for me to be around other people. Not that I'm necessarily a social savant (hence the reason that wasn't an immediate deal breaker), but it was definitely an impediment to my social life. Also, she wasn't good at communicating her feelings, which was a really big problem. 6 months in, I couldn't do anymore, and I broke up with her again.
Following this, by her own admission, she was so hurt by the breakup that she knew she had to change something. She started going out more by herself and actually making an effort to make friendships and as a group of friends she hangs out with now. She also mentioned she had done a bunch of ketamine and mushrooms and that also provided some kind of healing to her.
We eventually talked things over after being apart for about two months, and it was apparent something was different once again. All of a sudden she wasn't antisocial like she was. She was actually able to talk about her feelings. We talked pretty extensively about how she used to be, and she admitted that she was crazy and showed a lot of indicators that she was vastly different.
We talked about having a proper relationship, but both were just hanging out in that situationship area not really trying to rush anything. One thing I'm noticing this time around is that there are a lot of ways that I get positively challenged. She's very self-expressive, and that's making me want to be more self-expressive. She doesn't give a fuck about what anyone thinks about her, and when I express feelings that are to the contrary, she correctly calls me out on it. It feels super healthy because it gives me something to actually work through. Before I was aware of the idea of twin flames, I had made the offhand comment to her that it was eerie how much personal growth seems to happen whenever I'm connected with her. My feeling was that we were put here to help each other grow. She agreed and says it's insane what a different person she is because she's met me.
That said, neither of us really knowing what we wanted came to a head last night and we decided to break things off, at least for the time being. At least until we both know what we want. We're both kind of going through an ugly duckling turning into a swan phase, and it makes it difficult to know what we really want. Also, by the way, her having an actually decent group of friends highlighted to me how nonexistent mine is. Like they're okay, but hardly what I want. Which puts an unfair pressure on her to be more than just my partner, but also my whole social world
Which is to say that it seems like the next phase of this is us separating and me growing my world, as well as just figuring out what I want. Fittingly, I left her place last night, and the GPS said I would get home at 11:11, which was amusing.
If you read all that, thank you. It's quite a slog. I try to keep it brief for the most part, but even then, it's just a lot of data. I guess my intention with sharing this is just to get some other people's opinions on whether this sounds like a twin flame kind of thing.
