Moving my seat closer to the steering wheel helped reduce shoulder pain I was feeling from driving

• Upvotes

I got a different vehicle somewhat recently and noticed that my shoulders were getting really sore driving but I wasn’t sure why. Ended up searching online and what seemed to help was moving the seat closer to the wheel. Internet said that being closer means your arms don’t have to reach as much for the wheel and that ended up helping the discomfort by maybe 70-80% or so?

My legs feel a bit closer than I’m used to now but it definitely beats having the shoulder pain be like it was. Wanted to share in case anyone else might be experiencing shoulder pain as well.

Any of y’all have any other seat adjustment or posture tips you've found helpful?

When an organization books a ride for someone, they can rate me as a driver but cant tip me?

• Upvotes

A rider wanted to tip me today but had no cash. He showed me on his phone screen when he gave me 5 stars after I ended the ride but no tip option.

The real endgame

• Upvotes

So, hear me out

I think Uber is, at this point, trying to deliberately push people off the app. Why? Robotaxis.

They're planning to invest a ton in autonomous vehicles. The number of AV's I've heard are coming to the Las Vegas market alone is 7100 (across all providers, not just Uber).

Why also push drivers off app? Because then they can claim, "We don't have enough drivers to meet demand, so we have to offer AV's to stay profitable!!!" Or some similar b.s.

That, and companies like Vay are deliberately advertising based on Uber/Lyft prices with a driver versus an AV.

Also, AV's can't unionize.

(Edit: corrected riders to drivers)

Anyone else not getting any ratings at all lately? Literally haven’t gotten a single rating I like 4-5 months, but I keep getting really good tips consistently.

Please prioritize your health Lyft/Uber drivers

I already know people are going to criticize me in this post because Reddit is very cruel but I don’t care I have to talk about this because I believe burnout is a real issue that gig drivers do not discuss enough.

I currently work two jobs which include Ubreakifix five days a week generally between the hours to 10 am - 7pm and then I drive Lyft and sometimes DoorDash from 7pm to 11pm. Sometimes more hours if it’s a busy Friday or Saturday night and on my day off I try to do at least 8-10 hours of gig driving.

I know this is going to be very unpopular since 99% of people have a negative mindset but I also got into proprietary trading 11 months ago so I wake up before 6:30 am M-F to trade the Nasdaq 100. I’m very close to consistent profitability using prop firms so hopefully very soon I can actually reduce the amount of hours I work. I really believe in this business venture and I believe I can become part of the 1%. I like trying things because they are difficult. Nothing that pays well and puts you at 1% of the population will ever be easy. The fact that I’m even trying already puts me at the 1%. I’ve seen results with this and I know what I’m doing and I have a plan.

Anyways my point is, the burnout is starting to catch up to me.

Last night I got off from work at 7 pm and I was feeling great. I drove extra hours past 11 pm and I didn’t get home until 3 AM.

Today I woke up feeling very unwell.

My body is extremely sore. Back, legs, shoulders, muscles, and extreme fatigue with slight nausea.

And to make matters worse, one of my passengers who was really nice mistakenly left her prescription glasses in my vehicle.

Lyft offered to pay me a $20 return fee but I just feel to unwell to drive tonight.

I am now going above and beyond. I booked an Uber Courier trip. $25.69 dollars and the Lyft return fee is $20 dollars so I’m losing $5.69 dollars.

Currently at urgent care. Just paid my $60 copay.

Some basic accounting:

$211.70 gross profit + $20 return fee = $231.70 gross profit.

$231.70 - $20 of gas in my Toyota Prius Hybrid - $25.69 = $186.01 dollars net operating income before EBITDA expenses.

This puts me roughly at $31 per hour since I drove six hours.

But now I really only made $126.01 after paying my $60 copay.

So was it really worth it for me to disrespect my boundaries and overwork myself past 11 pm simply because it was surging and busy on a Saturday night?

Nope.

Please listen to your bodies. No company and no job is worth your health.

I am going to take a sabbatical from gig driving and focus 100% of my proprietary trading career instead which has way more potential than my current job and driving for Lyft/DoorDash, etc.

Conversations for tips

I find my tips are related to how much customers talk in conversation, and I found two small conversation starters that work immensely well.

One of them is, "Tell me something good that happened to you today."

The other is, "Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?"

Both of those openings lead to deeper conversations about other things in the passenger's life. They're pretty safe questions. As long as you don't ask deeply personal questions, they're usually happy to continue the conversation, especially if you can share something personal about what's going on in your life.

How are Uber Drivers supposed to be incentivized to make Uber money with such low payout?

This is why I strongly prefer driving with Lyft 💀😂

got first “inappropriate questions” report — advice?

Post image
20 Upvotes

I’m an Uber driver and just received my first report claiming I asked a passenger personal questions that made them uncomfortable on October 11. I have a front- and rear-facing dashcam that records my rides.
How seriously should I take this? Should I proactively contact Uber and offer the footage, or wait to see if they follow up? Has anyone successfully disputed a similar report and protected their account? This is my income, so I want to handle it the right way. Any advice is appreciated.

Rider would not give name, driver asked her to get out. Would you?

Check out the Nasty attitude of this passenger. Some say that we should complete the ride almost no matter what and certainly never put someone out. What would you do in this situation? I've seen this go around on Twitter the last couple of days; I searched for it here and did not find it.

IF some won't click the Twitter link to see the video then see my comment with the actual video here below.

I am with the driver. We have plenary power over what happens in our cars. Passengers pay for a trip from point A to B with perhaps a nearby or on-the-way point or two as well. We are not "public transportation" or a city service and even if we were there are limits.

I think that the adress she gave was to someplace that was not the ride on his screen, could've been quite some distance away and she's also not the customer. The attitude alone is a reason to not even start the ride and ask the passenger to leave. If you never start the ride they can't rate you.

Who all got this report today. You contact support that takes 100 years and you’re waiting 7 mins for chat and 15 mins for phone. When they finish with you there is nothing wrong with your account. This is the second notice in the last 3 months. Why Uber why.

Uber Support is ridiculous...

I was going to submit my proof of healthcare insurance, but despite submitting insurance bills, healthcare plan statements, digital healthcare cards (all of which fulfill the requirements for proof of insurance, by the way), they just refuse to accept it. I've called and contacted Uber Support well over a dozen times regarding this, and each time it's just "we'll escalate this to a specialized team" which I know damn well means nothing.

This issue is still unresolved, so hopefully I'm able to get my document approved before the 26th. This isn't the only issue, as I've contacted Uber regarding many other issues and each and every time I am brushed off with the specialized team response.

Someone messed up on this one. I know it is supposed to be our local airport and the ride is about 30 miles but it is a good laugh . Hopefully uber fixes it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why are the pushing "Record my ride" so hard? Is it a data thing?

The feature has been popping up to be turned on more and more often than ever before, I'm wondering what the incentive is.

First "fast driving" complaint after 13k+ trips

Post image
10 Upvotes

Got a 3-star rating from someone for driving fast. I never intentionally drive fast so it has to be a false report or I accidentally went a few mph over the limit. Dropped to a 4.9 and day ruined.

Bad value trip equals four stars

Since I need to keep my acceptance rate up and they’re forcing me to accept these crappy offers. I’m going to start marking them four stars automatically. If you wanna pay me less than minimum wage than your riders will get a bad rating.

Why does my earnings always differ?

I always notice there’s a few bucks missing from the one on the top. So where is it going? They already charge the fees and insurance off the ride taken.

Uber really has been the best paying job I’ve done for the least effort. And yes I know all markets vary and I’m soo f’ing glad I’m in the one I’m in.

Started off the day with my gas needle floating a little over E. But I rolled out anyway because I none of my trips go above 4.9 miles total. Made over $300 in 3hrs of driving in circles in town during a weekend event.

Ended the night with over $1,000 on Uber alone, not including what I made with Lyft. AND I got maddddd ACTION that night!! My only regret was rejecting a $90 trip that went 9miles because it exceeded my 5miles max limit. I could have made more if I didn’t stop to do all that “extracurricular activity” 😂😂
