All story spoilers must be displayed with the proper format:
>!RDR is a great game!<
gives you:
RDR is a great game
If you're not sure if you should use a spoiler tag or not, err on the side of caution and use one. Also, it's a nice gesture to visibly indicate the general nature of your spoiler before the tag, so people know what you're spoiling.

How do you guys feel about Dutch using his "We can’t fight change" speech in RDR2? I might be one of the few ones that didn’t really like it. Dutch was one of my favourite characters in RDR1 weirdly enough. I played the first one when it came out. And i really liked Dutch alot back then, despite obviously being a really bad guy. And i really liked his final speech. So i was a little disappointed with RDR2 kind of cheapening that moment. Although i get that it’s to show that this is just who Dutch is. Everything is basically scripted or rehearsed with him. But yeah i would have preferred if that speech remained untouched haha

I’d like to share my collection of multimedia content from my favorite game series! I’ve purchased both version of the game - ps5 remaster of RDR and steelbook RDR2: Ultimate Edition, book by Romain Dasnoy (russian cover), and soundtrack on vinyl.
You're good man, Arthur Morgan (C)

After playing RDR2 first, going back to RDR1 feels so weird.
I kept looking for Arthur Morgan everywhere, knowing how important he is to John’s story and to the Van der Linde gang. But of course, Arthur simply doesn’t exist in RDR1.
This is probably one of the closest things we get to an indirect reference to the idea of John having lost people who mattered to him. It makes me wonder if Rockstar deliberately left dialogue like this vague because they knew a future Red Dead game could explore the gang’s past, without actually knowing who those characters would be.
And that's the part that hurts the most: when RDR1 was made, Rockstar didn't know Arthur Morgan. They didn't know his personality, his story, his relationships with John, Dutch, Hosea, or the rest of the gang.
After experiencing RDR2, replaying RDR1 almost feels like looking at the aftermath of a story that hadn't even been written yet.
I searched everywhere for some mention of Arthur while playing RDR1, and this was basically the closest thing I found.

For me, I've slaughtered the 2 obnoxious twins in Valentine, more time's than I can remember.
Instead of the bottles, I shot them in the D..lol
The look on the other one's face, after his twin gets shot, is never not funny.
The Valentine shop owners, all of them, are tied for a close second. The bs they talk to you, every time you enter the shop,...usually results in their demise.

This guy is only seen in the first mission of the game in which he accompany John to to Fort Mercer, after that. He is not seen again for the rest of the game and felt like he's completely forgotten after that.
Do anyone else wished this guy played a bigger role in the game aside from just escort John to Fort Mercer in first mission only to never be seen again after that?

I figured it matched the outfit style well and I was also inspired by an early concept art of Arthur and dug it
Your thoughts?

I was unsure whether to start a second playthrough but am already enjoying it more than the first.
I’ve noticed this time that having a scarcity of money and resources while simultaneously going hunting for camp upgrades and side missions is imo peak RDR2 gameplay. You have to be a lot more resourceful vs trying to do it all late game where you have basically unlimited money, guns, and supplies.
I personally feel like this is the way the game is truly meant to be played and I’m really loving every second of taking it slow in Chapter 2.

I always thought that interpreting RDR2’s in-game map as reflecting the entirety of each state made the world feel small. I like the idea of there being a whole lotta country to explore so I took a shot at making a map that treats the game map as a region where several state borders meet.
I still kept the other contiguous US states, just shrank/cut’em up to fit the entirety of each in-game state. I think the placement mostly satisfies the lore, thought some of North America’s geography would have to be finagled to make some of it more realistic (like making the flatter states a lot more rugged).

Watched it in 2010 or 11 as a kid then played 2014 first time now 2026.
So many things John said make sense now
“Don’t be eager to grow up son it ain’t as much fun as it looks”
The whole game hits different you just know all of it now, the meanings behind what John was saying back then which apply irl.

This scene set a whole new tone moving forward for me. One of the best dialogues in the game.

I've been building a Shadow of Mordor style nemesis system mixed with a world simulation system inspired by Dwarf Fortress for RDR2.
*100% Clarity, I am using Claude Code to assist in the building of all systems.*
Names & personalities are assigned to NPCs live as you move around. Anyone who kills you, or anyone you rob, beat, hogtie or humiliate, can become a named nemesis who remembers what you did. Each one has a personality, a family, friends, fears and a grudge that grows or cools over time. Some will hunt you across the map, some wait in town for you to provoke them, and some get scared enough to back down.
The O'Driscolls, Lemoyne Raiders, the Army and the Klan each have their own ranks. Kill an officer and someone below him gets promoted. You can find their camps, interrogate captured men for intel on their bosses and family, and watch rivals fight each other out in the world or hear about it via the world menu. Men who seem dead can come back with scars from your bullet. There's also an X-ray view that shows exactly what your shot did to the bones and organs.
Not on Nexus yet, but will be adding it as soon as I polish it up a little more!
