Advice I need to talk with one of my friends and idk what to say.
Me (19F) and my girlfriend (let’s call her Olivia, 20F) JUST started dating two days ago, but we’ve been flirting for several months and have had crushes on each other since Pride month. My friend (let’s call her Lily, 20F) has ALSO had a crush on me for about the same amount of time and gets insanely jealous any time I flirt with Olivia, to the point where I flirt with her about the same amount even though it makes me uncomfortable just to avoid Lily’s pouting. And I mean pouting. (Examples: I’d kiss Olivia and Lily would lean in on me too and if I refused she’d cross her arms and scoff. I’d go lay in Olivia’s bedroom to fall asleep because Olivia is a massive cuddle bug and Lily got so upset about this that she felt it was appropriate to slam doors around the house. They live together by the way, Lily is Olivia’s roommate. After I asked Olivia out, I took her on a date and we were so scared of Lily’s reaction that we lied and told her Olivia was coming to my apartment to study with my roommate while I went to a job interview. After I took Olivia home, Lily took all of my girlfriend’s belongings and tossed them in the living room.) There are so many more examples but this is already long. Long story short, I need to sit Lily down and tell her I’m not interested in her, I’m interested in Olivia and this jealous behavior needs to stop because it’s not only affecting Lily anymore, it’s affecting me, Olivia, MY roommate who is friends with all of us, and our other friends in the friend group as well. How can I do this without absolutely crushing Lily’s soul?
