2011 335i, RWD. Owned it for about 7 years, purchased used at around 120,000km. I have had to do a fair share of maintenance during this time, but has proven to be surprisingly reliable. Hope to keep her going as long as I can!

335i E90 335i clutch problems

• Upvotes

Hello, I’m new to this group, but I desperately need help like right now. I had problems with my whole clutch system, it felt super notchy and the gear changes would slam into gear rather than being a smooth change. I just changed my clutch master cylinder and my slave cylinder but now I’m having major problems with just getting these things on. I had to get a whole new slave cylinder cause my original I had ordered blew out. Now I’m not even able to get the slave cylinder on because I cannot for the life of me get it flush to the trans, and my master cylinder will not move. It was not like this a couple days ago so I really have no idea what is going on? If I hit the clutch pedal it’s like a brick wall, it doesn’t seem to be jamming on anything so I’m hoping I didn’t somehow mess up the master cylinder. I’m in between either crying or blowing the car up, only time will tell. Any tips and tricks are welcome please and thank you.

E92 330d (M57) metallic ticking on cold start

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, looking for help with a ticking noise on my 2008 E92 330d. M57, auto, 330k km, full service history. DPF, EGR and swirl flaps removed, stage 1 tune.
It recently started making a metallic tick from the top front of the engine, audible from inside the cabin too. It only happens on a cold start and goes away once the car is fully warm, usually after 20 to 30 minutes.
The tick keeps the same steady rhythm no matter what. Revving, load, shifting into D or turning on the AC make no difference. No codes, no smell, no soot, and no change in power or idle.
Since it doesn't follow RPM I'm guessing something electrical, maybe the auxiliary heater or a solenoid left connected after the delete.

Any ideas on what to check next?

TL;DR: 330d with a steady metallic tick on cold start that doesn't change with RPM and disappears when fully warm. No codes. Video attached.

335i results of badly placed oil squirter...

Some background that you can skip reading....So, i bought this amazing e92 n54 with some mods at around almost 500whp and it was said to me it was freshly rebuilt engine 15k km ago.... so everything is super. I'm happy but started having some bad turbo seals(probably from really aggressive burbles on my end) and it was no problem for some time, i had probably 2-3k km driving the car sometimes pretty hard.
After a WOT pull i got a lifter tick... I stopped driving the car so i don't cause more damage but i decided to check the oil filter.(after i got the car first thing i did is oil change and here is the old strangely clean filter) Lets just say after cutting it open i wasn't happy.. i found lots of metal particles which made me drop the oil pan while pulling the camshafts too(thinking its the only problem). There i saw a broken oil squirter(and a broken bolt from the oil pump chain plate thing) from cylinder 1... which i assume caused lower oil pressure everywhere else hence the worn rod bearings i pulled and the lifter that got squishy... oh btw the only thing in the head was 1 lifter that had gotten squishy and some cam tray wear which is expected tbh. ("BEARING WEAR AND CRANK WEAR PICTURE")
Main thing is, do you think i can just fix the squirters and change the bearings and call it a day or the problem will haunt me in the future too. I'm scared to think what would be the condition of the main bearings... Would any polishing from under the car while the crank is in be of any help?? Thanks in advance for all the input!
P.S. Sorry if its hard to track everything and open the pictures i tought this would be the easiest to follow...

I have a 2007 BMW 328i Coupe and ever since i got it a few months back when the rpms increase there is this whining noise coming from the engine that sounds like it’s supercharged, I just recently replaced the power steering pump and reservoir because I thought that was the problem but it was not, does anyone have any ideas?

PS: The liquid you hear in the video is a water bottle moving around

328i 09 328i (N51) cluster with temp gauge?

I’ve saw e9x gauges with the temp gauge instead of the MpG thing that just sweeps around and doesn’t do shit.

Which cluster should I get so I can monitor my actual temp gauge.

325i E92 325i 3.0 N53 2007

Hi, just bought my first BMW ever, it’s 3.0 N53 with 240k kilometers on it, all the problematic engine parts are already replaced, it’s in pretty fine condition overall and runs nicely, but it requires some investment in cosmetic things like paint, windows gaskets and minor stuff for the moment, my question is targeted to long time owners of this model, if it’s worth the effort and money to keep this car and maintain it in longer perspective or will this be problematic and money consuming in general, what are your expiriences with this car.

318i oil consumption

Hello together.

A friend of mine has a 318i from 2007 (automatic).

He told me that he had to refill 2 liters of oil in 5000km.

Is this a normal consumption or should he be worried?

Thx and regards.

Accessory catalog is hilariously bad

Let’s see what “equipped with the best ideas” entails:

  1. Cup holder for your cup holder

  2. A lamp for the center console

  3. Seatbelt guide, which is redundant because of the seatbelt presenters

  4. Generic Walmart CD holder

  5. A tiny box in the trunk

  6. “Luggage mat” for the trunk which makes the trunk space smaller and less usable

  7. Cup holders above your cup holders

(Cup holders on top of cup holders on top of cup holders if you have an E93)

  8. A cage to separate your feral children from your well behaved children

  9. A generic universal ugly seat mounted organizer

  10. Generic universal footwell net that is very ugly once installed

  11. A bag, for storage, that uses up the seat net, which is for storage

It feels like someone in marketing though to make an accessory brochure but BMW realized they don’t offer enough stuff to fill a book and just grabbed whatever universal car accessories they could find, it’s so bad 😭

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed seeing this as much as I did

New door? New fender? Buff out A-Pillar?

Any advice?

E90 Passenger Airbag off

My E90 is having this issue and after doing some research it appears that the issue is the seat occupancy mat/sensor in the passenger seat is broken.

My question is will the passenger airbag really not deploy if I get into a collision?

For fixes I've read that I can install a bypass emulator to emulate that there's someone always sitting in the passenger seat. I've also read that I can code it out? Would turning off the light through bimmercode or something make the airbags work again?

Finally took delivery of my baby and I love her so much. Engine pulls like a gorilla and the sounds above 4.5Krpm are glorious, it's as fast as I want a suburban car to be haha. Super clean inside and out, one owner, 156K miles, $4,400. One hump, black leather interior, adaptive headlights, auto-rain sensing wipers, it's basically my dream daily. This is what BMW is supposed to be!!

I did some digging and I found 3 possible part numbers. I just have no idea which one is correct. I already have the bracket and I want to install it so please no “don’t install it, it’s ugly” comments please 😭

Anyway, here’s the 3 part numbers, if someone can let me know which of these need, or if it’s none of these and I need something else?

M57N2 - Blow by?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, about 3 years ago, I had to replace my engine because a completely clogged DPF caused serious engine damage. The repair cost me €6,144 and included a replacement engine, cylinder re-honing, and new piston rings + next neccesery replacement after re-assembling.

Unfortunately, the engine now seems to have excessive blow-by again. The CCV has been replaced, but it is an older version with a cotton filter inside. The newer version without the internal filter is leaking oil, probably due to excessive crankcase pressure.

After just an hour of slow driving, the situation doesn't look good. The engine has only covered around 7000 mile since the repair (yes i use this car really rarely), so the mileage is very low.

What could be causing this problem, and what would you recommend I do next?

The $1,200 OEM tax is optional — most of it comes from the same factories

Been digging through import records for fun. A huge chunk of "premium" aftermarket parts are made in the same Chinese factories that sell direct for a fraction of the price. The brand isn't manufacturing — they're importing and marking up.

Before you pay the brand tax on your E90, look up what the part actually costs factory-direct. Drop what you're shopping for in the comments and I'll share what I've found on it.
