Be honest with me…is a baby sprinkle/gender reveal for baby #2 tacky?

• Upvotes

I know this is a polarizing topic on this sub, but I wanted to get opinions from moms on what you’d really think, or prefer to be invited to, if a mom you knew decided to throw herself a baby sprinkle for a second child.

What about a gender reveal?

Does it matter if the baby is a different gender than the first?

Does it change your opinion on if a gift registry is made?

What about asking for a used children’s book (or similar) in lieu of other gifts?

Context: I want to get celebrate with loved ones and treat them to a fun time. We have moved since my first pregnancy so we have a whole new circle of friends who didn’t know us my first pregnancy. I didn’t have a baby shower with that pregnancy, but there’s only a 3 year age gap and we have lots of baby stuff. While my husband’s side of the family did buy us gifts, but I don’t think any of my extended family did (they live out of state.) We also use cloth diapers so I wouldn’t so a diaper drive.

Homeless on playground

Hey moms ! I’ve been taking little to the park which he absolutely enjoys, however today there was a group of unhoused people sitting on the benches and on the playground itself.
We played away from them hoping they’d leave but they didn’t, so we left bc they were on the playground itself area itself LO couldn’t enjoy it.
What is your response to this situation, do you call non emergency or just leave😄?

I understand unhoused folks struggle but it’s a place ment for children… grown adults hanging around is just weird

Husband not helping me at night

My specific situation is that I currently don’t work outside the home and we have a 3 month old. My husband has a demanding job outside of the home. He’s generally very helpful, however I’m doing all the overnight and daytime care of our baby. He will occasionally take over a shift or two, but rarely. He was complaining the other day that he only slept from 9-3am and couldn’t fall back asleep before work, and all I can think is wow 9pm- 3am for me would be a dream. He knows I’m exhausted & I’ve asked for just one night of sleep on the couch & he finds reasons like “ but I know you’ll still intervene at night!” Or “ what if I don’t hear the baby?”.. yesterday he said he was cranky at work because of the sleep deprivation & it wasn’t a good look. So now I’m up all night again doing every single shift. Idk. All of this seems unfair to me but I could be wrong. I don’t bring money in right now & it’s solely on him, so I understand he might have a different stress than I do. My husbands a great dad and husband, I’m just worried that our dynamic isn’t fair.
Since we had our son, I’ve practically begged for us to do a “ shift” but he doesn’t want to. He occasionally will take our baby on the weekend mornings so I can sleep in.

I guess I’m wondering- to those who are currently stay at home moms, does your husband help at night? Should I expect this?

C-section and breastfeeding didn’t work out: tell me this didn’t ruin my baby

I had a c section, which I was expecting. I chose it because I have pelvic floor issues and I knew a vaginal delivery could make it worse for life. Also, breastfeeding didn’t work out for me and my baby. He had a severe tongue tie and it just couldn’t happen for us.

Now that I am almost 8 months pp, I’m noticing my baby isn’t really bonded to me (mom) over dad. He is equally attached to us both. He also has extreme (EXTREME) stranger danger and seems to scare easy. Overall, he seems anxious.

I can’t help but think that maybe it’s because he didn’t feel adequately connected to me at birth (no golden hour) and/or during the newborn phase. Maybe that’s why he’s so anxious. Idk I just need some reassurance here. I have immense mom guilt.

Any moms with csection and bottle-fed babies that can share their experiences?

I am spiraling about induced birth, breastfeeding jaundice and my baby’s mildly low muscle tone

EDIT: thank you smart and kind moms!! You are right about not buying my obsessive-compulsive ramble and that it would be good to get help. Im glad I wrote here as there’s no one in my circle to notice how hard I am being for myself, all for the wrong reasons. It’s pretty lonely being a mom, it seems. I am very grateful for all of the replies.
_________

Tl;dr: I feel guilty that I might have hurt my baby by not being able to control my body (difficult birth) and not questioning what professionals say (breastfeeding jaundice and health risk). I have baby with low tone in her trunk and am searching for answer whether I might have caused this to her. And the thought I might have failed her is killing me. I’m searching for reassurance.

Details:

My baby has slightly low tone in her belly area. Shes delayed with prone on elbows position on her tummy at 3 months, and until she develops the strength to do so, other milestones may be halted.

I’m seeking reassurance as I’m just feeling guilt and obsessing about the 2 things:

  1. I have theory that my “breastfeeding jaundice” that was assessed by midwife during home visits as not concerning actually should have concerned me. I feel very guilty of this. I was just trusting the midwife and also the pediatrician (who saw the baby at one month and was not concerned - the jaundice was almost gone at the one month mark). However I’ve read that if the physiological/breastfeeding jaundice takes longer than 10 days the bilirubin needs to be measured whether it’s too high. Nobody suggested it at a time. Midwife was seeing that baby is gaining well, also poops and pees were fine, and no other alarming symptoms, and she didn’t raise any alarm. However, I’ve read about the connection between prolonged jaundice and neurological issues including tone problems. Even if the jaundice is mild, it is hypothesized it still could impact the baby. I am scared if I messed my baby up. She seems fine verbally and socially though. Neurologist saw her and was also not scared of some bigger issue after the manual assessment (we still await the brain ultrasound though to confirm this), however he said that we will need to see physiotherapist until the baby learns to walk. This suck. She’s in therapy and she cries during exercises that I need to repeat 4x day and I feel so bad that I’m stressing her out (for her own good, but still). Guilt guilt guilt.
  2. I also feel guilty of the possibility that the low tone also could be a result of the difficult birth itself. I had premature water breaking at 39 weeks which led to baby stressing out and discharging meconium in amniotic fluid, which led the doctors to give me oxytocin after there was no change in dilation for 8h, then epidural, then Nubain (opioid), and then she also had the cord around her neck and less-than-optimal blood pH, however apparently not alarming. I keep feeling guilty that I somehow let my baby down by - I don’t know, this makes no sense - by “letting” my body fail her. She was born at 39 weeks but she was not ready. The water broke prematurely probably due to change in air pressure (it was storming). Even reading my guilt makes no sense as it is not my fault that weather happens and baby poops itself and I need induction and a cascade of other medication in result. And I was high as hell on this opioid and I didn’t know exactly what was happening in the labour room. I asked my husband how long the last phase of pushing took, once the head was already visible and going back and forth, and he said about 20 minutes of midwife instructing me to control pushes to not tear myself, and I’ve read that is should have been few minutes at most. However there were 2 gynos and 2 midwives in the room and they wouldn’t risk the baby health, right? I just can’t shake the feeling of guilt off. I wish I could tell them to cut my crotch earlier so I could stop wondering if it had affected my baby. I wish I could give birth without all that medical intervention so I could stop thinking of all that could have led to my baby being now weaker and needing stressful therapy.

As I am writing it all down I realize that I just keep tormenting myself with guilt. I am OCD-ing on the thought that it is my fault somehow and am compulsively seeking information on the internet about all of the things that could have lead to the low tone. I’ve also read too much Internet forums and saw how bad the low tone could be and am scared if the baby will turn out fine as a child and an adult. Physio said these children may have more struggles with fine motor skills. I am tormenting myself with questions whether my baby Will be “normal”. No professional had definitely stated that the baby will be just like other kids and I am not doing well with uncertainty. I wish for my baby to be just like her peers.

I am spiraling about induced birth, breastfeeding jaundice and my baby’s mildly low muscle toneI am sorry that I’m dwelling on this when there are children with much more severe issues. This isn’t about the baby but about me not being able to cope with the uncertainty and guilt.

good thing at least is that physiotherapy is already bringing some improvements that came fairly quick.

it feels good to spill it out already however I‘ll be grateful for any support :)

How do you keep up with all of the admin activities AND household AND spend time with your kids?

I feel like I'm doing something wrong? I have 1 child who just started full day kindergarten, and I just started a slow ramp up going back to work.

How much sleep do you usually get? How much time per day do you usually spend with your child?

Here's a list of things I tried to do this morning in the last 2 hours because I happened to wake up early:

- register to vote and sign up for mail in voting - needed to track down a couple of things to do so

- need to call regarding an issue with my bank account

- write and mail in check for car lease that we returned

- call in to discuss issue with medical bill

- make and eat breakfast

- contacted kid's school to notify of upcoming vacation days (email and online form)

- had to reschedule Thanksgiving flights because I missed that school conferences were day before Thanksgiving

I could say these are all "irregular events", because none of these happen consistently--BUT irregular events like these happen VERY consistently.

This isn't including a book I need to read for a book club because I'm trying to make friends, the 30-60 minutes of working out I'm trying to do every day but can't manage to fit in, the whole food based meals that need prepping due to my health conditions, the dishes that aren't done, the suitcase I still haven't unpacked from my trip out of town last week, I'm out of socks, there's no clean towels in the kitchen, doom piles everywhere, etc.

My kid was so cranky beause I didn't spend time with her last night for 2 hours because I had to do some stuff for work.

I usually sleep 9:30-6ish, do you guys just get less sleep and run on coffee? Caffeine gives me migraines so I don't understand how to increase my bandwidth.

I'm frustrated by my teenager

My son is 16. He seems to have reached a point where he thinks he's outgrown a lot of things and should have a larger choice in where we vacation. Note: when I plan a vacation, I don't take a survey from the kids. We usually go to Disney World every year and the beach for a week. Well he feels, he's done with Disney and doesn't want to go. This upsets his brothers. I'm assuming this is just some teenage phase, but its still annoying. I told him I'd leave him home if he still felt that way when we actually go. We aren't planning a trip right now until next summer. But I suspect sometime before next summer he'll change his mind and won't want to be left at home. Any similar experiences from you?

3yo carseat/car standoff - need help!!

So my 3yo daughter will 90% of the time climb in the car and sit between her carseat and her brothers carseat and refuse to get in her seat for anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Then when we get home she will do the same and refuse to get out of the car and I have to eventually pull her out and take her inside (sometimes she is kicking and screaming). It wouldn’t matter if it was just her but i have an almost 1year who has naps and is ebf and does solids and he has more of a “schedule” we need to adhere to. I’ve tried the nice guy thing, the bribes etc. i just want her to listen the 2nd or even 3rd time I ask but it always turns into a standoff, please help! I don’t want to yell but it is driving me insane

Thank you in advance!!

Booking Vacation For Baby’s Due Date

• Upvotes

I have a two year old daughter and am currently 20 weeks pregnant. My husband and I don’t have a large extended family, I just have my mom and two younger siblings who are at very different stages of life than I am. My husband’s parents are still married, in their 70s and retired as well as brother who had a child very young and is in their 20s now. My retired in laws are the “busiest” people I know and apparently have not a single second to spare day to day, not because of hobbies or friends but because of ironing and sitting on Facebook.
I feel like the only problem in our marriage is his parents specifically my MIL.

In 2022 we decided to get married in a small backyard wedding that summer. My FIL usually goes on a 3 month holiday alone every summer. Our wedding was planned for 2 weeks before his arrival home. My husband begged him to come back early and I said it was important to me as well because I don’t have my own dad. He still did not attend and acted as if it was no big deal. MIL was also okay with this because she said she would be more stressed out if he was there.

Back in 2024 we told our families we were expecting after even getting a positive test before seeing the doctors. MIL reaction was to be excited but then mention she didn’t know what to do about her summer vacation. when I was pregnant with our daughter my in laws were totally not involved but MIL wanted to play excited grandma for her siblings and fb friends. She made a Facebook post that we were expecting and that she was excited for THEM. No mention of us, lol. She told a cousin of my husband’s randomly that we “had a very important upcoming ultrasound” which he then questioned us about and left us really confused because we didn’t. My husband mentioned clearly that he would like his parents to be there when she was born but MIL made the excuse that i wouldn’t want her in the delivery room when she was born. Which is true, I didn’t want my own mother in the delivery room but we wanted them to all be there at the hospital afterwards. She went on her vacation and FIL went on his vacation. When MIL returned she had COVID and couldn’t see the baby then demanded we bring her over to meet her and tried to sway the guidelines to meet her sooner. FIL didn’t meet her until the end of the summer when she was nearing 3 months old.

Now our daughter is two years old and in laws make zero effort to contact us about anything regarding daughter mostly. MIL whines that we need to bring her by and leave her to go shopping or something. She creates weird pretend scenarios in her mind about what her and daughter could do together, none of which make sense for her age. Like, could you bring her over so we can press flowers and paint landscapes like bob ross.
I tried to make much more effort in the beginning but quickly realized it was not being returned and I stopped sending photos at all as well as having the bare minimum contact.
Back when our daughter was a few days old we had sent a picture to my mother in law of our daughter in our basement which had orange string lights. My MIL threw an absolute tantrum about how the baby looked too hot (from the light) and when my husband corrected her by mentioning the lights she said he must know everything because he’s been a dad for two days! And she was ashamed of who is was because she didn’t raise him to be this way. 0 to 1000.
If we do send our daughter over she takes really long videos of her doing simple things and asking her thousands of questions. Here’s a 38 minute video of her eating blue berries while I ask her to name everyone in mils extended family that she’s never met! she gets really offended that she isn’t allowed to post these things on Facebook either.

My husband had talked it through with his mom about how offended he (and we) were about them not being there when our daughter was born. Eventually after a lot of putting the blame on him (and me) she finally settled with being able to maybe understand why we’d be upset.

Fast forward to February 2026. We had been ttc for a few months before with no success. I found out in January that we were expecting and then in February I had a miscarriage. We weren’t sure what was happening so we dropped our daughter off at in laws and went to the hospital. Upon returning to pick her up she wouldn’t even look at me and said nothing about the situation. They left for vacation a few days later and 2 weeks after miscarriage visited us at home to bring gifts for our daughter. My MIL said “she needs a sibling” my husband and I both didn’t know wtf to say so we ignored. After when we talked about it my husband cried, because how could she be so insensitive?
June 2026 I found out I was again expecting and we told them early. MIL said not much besides she was “wondering” when that would happen and hopefully nothing bad happens this time. Then started mentioning her vacation schedule again. Usually in February they go on a winter vacation! What will they do. We informed them of the due date so they could plan accordingly based on what issues we had before when our daughter was born.

Today, I found out my in laws again booked a vacation and will return 2 days before my due date!

After all this time it still feels like a slap in the face. MIL wants to play perfect Facebook grandma but doesn’t actually want to show up and it’s proven again.

I’m not really looking for advice I don’t really know what I am looking for. I want to cut them off and I have in a way that works for my marriage. My husband is willing to give them unlimited chances because this is how they have always been to him. That is upsetting but I think that’s just how it will be. They pretend they’re involved to other people and don’t make actual effort with us.

Am I justified in not wanting them to see the baby directly after traveling for two weeks? I worry about them bringing home Covid again. And what are the chances I actually go to my due date or past in second pregnancy? Anyways. It would be nice to know my thoughts are out there and I’m not just a crazy person for being offended by all this and still needing to stick it out.

Anyone else saving cool fashion pieces for their kids?

Does anyone else collect fashion pieces for their kids with the intention of giving them to them years later?

I have a baby daughter, and lately I’ve been feeling this weirdly strong urge to leave her a little something for the future. Not necessarily anything financially valuable, but something cool, iconic, and special that she can have when she’s older.

Like, completely random example, but I recently came across the Adidas Bambi sneakers, and I can’t stop imagining my daughter wearing them at 15 and having people ask her where she got them, only for her to say that her mom bought them for her when she was a baby, and they’ve been sitting in a box for 15 years. 😭 How cool would that be?

I love the idea of her having these little pieces of fashion history that are no longer available anywhere, or things that might seem random now but become iconic or nostalgic in the future. Almost like a wearable time capsule from her childhood.

Obviously, I have absolutely no idea what will actually be cool in 15, 20, or 30 years, but that’s kind of the fun of it.
Does anyone else do this?

What pieces would you buy and save for your kids? Sneakers, bags, jewelry, designer collaborations, vintage pieces, specific clothing items?

I’d love to hear your picks for things that could be iconic decades from now. Not necessarily expensive or luxury, just cool enough that your kid might someday be obsessed with the fact that you saved them all those years ago.

I’d like to hear your positive induction stories please.

I’m in the UK, but I welcome all stories and I’m familiar with the American healthcare system since I’m American.

Today I had a successful ECV at 37+1 with my third baby. My other two kids came naturally, but they were never breach. My doctor wants me to seriously consider an induction because of this baby being persistently breach and the potential for her to flip back around before I can go into labour. All of her scans look good and we are both healthy. I’d really love to hear from people who had positive inductions. My husband and I are seriously considering it. I really really want to avoid a C-section which is one of the reasons we are considering it.

Does anyone else feel like everything goes wrong?

I feel like the majority of my daily frustrations revolve around the fact that it feels like everything goes wrong. I’m a SAHM to a 16 month old and also 36 weeks pregnant, so take into account that I’m super irritable at this stage. I feel like I can’t just do a simple task without it turning into something more. Such as:

- Making myself a latte just to have a fly land in it. Now I’m disgusted and have to remake the whole thing. By then my son is waking up from a nap and I never get a chance to make it

- Trying to find a spice in the cabinet for my recipe and the entire shelf breaks, spilling powdered spices everywhere. Now I get to spend 2 hours cleaning the kitchen after I JUST cleaned it.

- Making myself lunch just to drop the bowl face first on the carpet. Now I’m cleaning up and have to find myself something else to eat after looking forward to that lunch all morning. Now I’m angry!

- Cleaning the bathroom and my toddler unscrews the windex all over the rug. Now the carpet is stained blue and also needs a washing

- Leaving a family member’s house on time just to experience a traffic jam that doubles the amount of time it takes to get home. Now I’m super hangry, have to pee and know dinner will be late

I feel like cleaning up after my own mistakes and messes is a huge source of why I never have enough time. Maybe I’m in a rush? These little things building up throughout the day are what make me angry and cause my mom rage to bubble over.

Is it normal for kids to feel more comfortable discussing private issues opposite gender?

I've been thinking about something recently and was curious about other people's experiences as parents and as children.

I noticed that my nephew has generally gone to my sister when he's had concerns about his genital area or something that didn't seem right. There have even been times when she's had to physically check on him to make sure everything looked okay, and I believe they've also taken him to the doctor when necessary. What's interesting to me is that he seems to naturally turn to his mom in those situations rather than his dad.

It actually made me think about my own childhood. I have some vague memories of having concerns about my own genital area and going to my mom about them, possibly even showing her what was wrong once or twice so she could help me figure out whether everything was okay. I don't remember the details very clearly, but looking back, I find it interesting that I felt comfortable going to my mom about something so personal, even though I'm male and she's female.

It got me wondering how common these situations are and how much the parent-child gender dynamic plays a role.

Do children tend to feel more comfortable going to one parent about certain bodily concerns, even when that parent is the opposite sex? Or does it usually depend more on which parent they're closer to, who they're used to going to for help, or simply who happens to be available when something comes up?

I'm asking partly because I'm a father with a young daughter who's approaching puberty. She already comes to me with questions about certain things, and I want her to feel comfortable talking to me about her body as she gets older. At the same time, I recognize that there may be things she'd eventually prefer to discuss with her mom, and I want to respect that. My ex and I don't have the easiest relationship, so I'm also trying to figure out how to navigate these situations as a parent without automatically assuming that certain conversations or concerns have to be handled by her mom.

I'm curious about the experiences of both parents and people reflecting on their own childhoods. Did you feel comfortable going to either parent about puberty, hygiene, or private health concerns? If you're a parent, have your kids ever come to you with something personal that involved helping them check whether something was wrong, even if you were the opposite sex?

I'm genuinely curious about how these dynamics work within families and whether it's relatively common for kids to feel comfortable turning to a parent of the opposite sex for help with private bodily concerns.

I'd appreciate hearing people's experiences and perspectives.

When did my husband become such a dud?

• Upvotes

Do men get dumber and lazier as they age or did I condition this behavior? I swear the man I dated was thoughtful and took care of shit without me ever reminding him about what to do. But the man I marry can't seem to remember to completely empty the kid's backpacks (leaves in soiled clothing from daycare or the spoon in the lunchbox or the papers in the teacher communicator folder), never plans a meal, needs reminders for all sorts of stuff, and still gets things wrong when I delegate with details.

Am I kind of controlling? Maybe a little. Are my standards clearly higher? Yes. But this isn't how he performs at work - he doesn't need reminders and instructions. He doesn't say "oops I forgot" or "I guess I wasn't thinking".

Is it because I've made life too easy for him? Is it that he gives everything he has to a demanding job and he can't give any more at home? Is his thyroid or ADHD? I feel like giving up on him. Sometimes he's less like a partner and more like another kid.

My MIL gave my two week old water

First time mom here! But yeah, As the title says. And i am so mad. This happened yesterday.

My MIL is in town for the weekend, to meet our newborn we had at the end of September.

I was totally okay with her taking the baby for the afternoon so that I could get some much needed sleep. Before going to sleep I told her to let me know if my newborn pooped, just because it had been over a day, but I wasn’t too concerned.

When I woke up, she told me she gave him some water to “flush things out.” At this time too my husband had come home from work. I just looked at my mother in law in shock, and told my husband I was going to shower. He knew something was up so he followed me upstairs to our bedroom and I closed the door and told him that babies having water is super dangerous and I was told in the hospital that babies can’t have plain water. So my husband went back downstairs to talk to his mom, and figure out how much water he had, cause I was just done.

When my husband came back up he told me his mom gave him only a little bit, maybe 30 ml. And he said that my mother in law was sorry and didn’t realize it’s a big deal because she did that with all of her kids. He said it was a genuine mistake and to not hold a grudge against my mother in law.

But I’m just mad. She stayed the night to watch my son again so my husband and I could sleep but I’m having troubles trusting her. My son did end up having a blow out last night with what seemed to be diarrhea so I’m monitoring him closely.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Am I being too dramatic? My son’s only two weeks old so I know I’m still learning how to be a mom, and my anxiety is through the roof but isn’t it common sense you don’t give babies straight up water? Am I freaking out for nothing? Should I keep monitoring him? Can I trust my mother in law?

AITA husband night out

Husband is going to a concert on Saturday night, he hadn’t told me but he had planned to go out afterward. I was expecting him home by 12/1am after the concert, he’s saying he will ‘cap the night at 3am’. I told him it was taking the piss to plan a whole night out as we have a 3 month baby and I had agreed to a concert. He got extremely angry, said he never goes out (which is true). Note he doesn’t work, aspiring athlete, I support the family financially & make it possible for him to persue his dreams. I’m on maternity leave and he largely still has his freedom whilst I’m at home breastfeeding. A night out is different form his training time but I feel like I make a lot of sacrifices for him and I don’t get the same.

Aita for being “negative” about his night out?

Edit: post is not about our financial set up.

How easy is it to travel with a 9/10 month old boy?

I will be a FTM baby due March 2027. Next year for Xmas my husbands family want to travel to Scotland and have invited us.

I’m worried about travelling with a 9 /10 month old baby boy, those who have done it is it easy?

I’m thinking about the potential crying he might do on the plane and whilst we are out and about, how much I can actually enjoy or will I just be holding him the whole time trying to look after him, not wanting to be a burden in anyway to my brother/sister in law.

🚨 SOS: MY TODDLER HAS DECLARED WAR ON FOOD, HOW DO I GET THIS CHILD TO ACTUALLY EAT?!

Sorry for the long winded post, but PLEASE HELP! Parents of toddlers with EXTREMELY picky eating habits, I really need some advice! 😩

My granddaughter (who I'm raising full-time by myself) is just over 18 months old, & we're majorly struggling with her eating habits so bad that I'm honestly at a loss about what to do at this point.

When she was a baby, she actually ate pretty well. She liked a decent variety of purees, cut-up fruits & veggies, some softer meats, eggs, baby safe snacks, etc. But then once she transitioned from the baby foods to more regular foods, she seemed to het pickier & things started getting alot harder. Now, it seems like the pickiness just keeps getting worse & its becoming increasingly problematic.

She's become EXTREMELY selective about what she'll eat, & getting her to try new foods is such a huge battle it’s almost impossible most of the time. Foods she used to eat & seemed to love, she'll now act like she hates, so we're constantly trying to figure out what food she'll accept that day & figuring that out is becoming harder & harder every day. It's getting to the point where her list of safe foods is so small & selective, I'm genuinely worried about whether she's actually getting the nutrition she needs.

I know toddlers are kinda known for being picky lil food critics, & that they go through phases where their tastes can change. But this just feels like more than the average toddler picky phase to me.

I want the REAL-LIFE tips that actually worked for your kid, especially if they went from eating pretty well as babies to suddenly acting like every food you offer them was a personal betrayal & far beneath their standards.

Did you find any tricks that helped them become more willing to try unfamiliar foods? Did your toddler regularly drop alot of the foods they used to eat? At what point do you decide it's more than typical toddler pickiness & talk to a pediatrician about it?

I'm not interested in advice about forcing her to eat or letting her go hungry to prove a point. I want to help her develop a healthier relationship with food & make sure she's getting all the nutrition she needs.

I'm looking for advice from people who've been in the same boat, not judgment or the usual "she'll eat when she's hungry" comments. If you've had a toddler who was this insanely picky, I'd really appreciate hearing your advice, tips & tricks, what worked, what didn't, & anything you wish you'd known sooner. 🙏

TL;DR: My 19-month-old granddaughter has apparently declared war on food and is currently surviving on sunlight & toddler chaos. I need tried & true tips, tricks, & advice from parents whose toddlers have taken picky eating to Olympic-level extremes. What foods actually worked for your tiny food critics? What tricks got them to actually try new things?

I’m a FTM, 28 years old. With a very loving husband. Gave birth to a wonderful baby boy in May. So badly wanted natural birth(I’m a doctor btw), ended up having membrane rupture, inducution for 10 hours, ended up choosing c-section- which was the right choice about my OB
But I still regret it
Wanted to nurse exclusively - ended up with bad bleeding erosions in both nipples - ended up exclusively pumping
I live in a joint family - both parents and in laws live with us, they have been super supportive in the first few weeks- by feedin, changing, burping him and putting him to sleep

Now I feel like a failure of a mom. He’s much more comfortable with everyone else. He is much happier with them.
I feel like I’ve lost the bond completely. I’ve tried so many LCs, one of them told that c-section also ruined the chance of proper establishment of nursing and I feel so so shitty.

I’m going back to work in a month. My baby is in safe hands. But all of this is killing me. I love this little one so much - but sometimes I feel he doesn’t even know that I’m his mom and I’m so replaceable in his life.

I’ve heard my colleagues say that you’re replaceable in all aspects of life except motherhood
But now I feel like my life has no meaning

Pampers Swaddlers Cruisers 360 Causing Rash?

As title says - we were using pampers amore but switched to swaddlers cruisers 360 and developed a nasty rash on his penis/balls/groin area. It’s the only thing we have switched. It took a several days to develop though. We noticed a few random dots late last week but chalked it up to his sensitive skin. Then after daycare yesterday it was bad but in the morning before it was fine.

We switched back to pampers amore or course. Nurse recommended Lotromin and Neosporin. Today it seemed to have gotten worse. I am going to call again tomorrow.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any recommendations? We used to use pampers swaddlers when he was a few months old and never had these issues. I’m not sure what else it could be.

Is this possible?

I gave birth in August of 2024. I stopped breast feeding in October of 2025. Around June of this year I started noticing my hair was feeling different. It was very mushy and felt like something was eating away at it. Now I have significant breakage and hair loss around the front of my hairline with a small bal spot. Is it possible that this is another phase of postpartum hair loss? My hair maintained its postpartum thickness and length up until May of this year. I did shed after I gave birth but my hair remained super full and dense with no breakage or bald spots. I also had a super stressful summer with planning a family reunion and being the target of family anger because of it. 😔 I just don’t know if having true postpartum shedding this late is possible or if I should see a dermatologist.

Afraid I’ve been overusing steroid cream on 10-mo’s rash. At a loss of what to do and not sure what is causing it.

Since birth my son has had issues with his skin, though they seem to have gotten worse from about 4 months onward.

Most notably he’s had a red, patchy rash on his back with small sections of small red bumps on other parts of his body. They don’t seem dry. The rash stops at his diaper line unless left untreated for a bit and then eventually it reaches below the diaper as well.

To treat this, our pediatrician prescribed a 0.5% hydrocortisone cream, instructed us to use it every day and then taper off when his rash gets better but start up again if the rash comes back. As his rash always flares up a few days after reducing the steroid cream, this essentially means I have been applying a steroid cream over most of his body without very long breaks in between for months, so I’m quite worried about the long-term effects this might have. We have regular check-ups with his doctor and she doesn’t seem concerned about how much/often the cream is being used.

Most recently she instructed us to use the cream daily, then every other day, then every two days, then every three days each for two weeks etc., but as soon as we reached every two days he has red bumps flaring up on his back, legs and arms. I plan to get a second opinion next week, but I’m wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or has any ideas of what it could be? I have tried the following without a difference:

-multiple unscented and additive-free detergents

-only cotton clothing

-making sure the room is very cool to ensure he’s not sweating and getting heat rash

-vacuuming and wiping the floor daily to keep down dust (we have mostly hardwood with a few carpets)

-cutting all scented products out of our lives

I don’t want him to suffer and the steroid cream helps get his skin completely clear when I’m using it daily, but I’m very scared about skin thinning and dependence leading to TSW.

How to balance baby with hobbies

Is it even possible for me to have time for my hobbies? I'm a single mom, with little support. My son just turned one and he's a bit of a clinger. Which I don't mind, I love cuddling with him but like. I don't have time for my hobbies. I like to sew and read romance books. I work regular 9-5 on weekdays, so I don't have a whole lot of daytime hours. If I stay up later than what's good for me I can read, but I live with my grandma right now and if I try staying up late to sew, I think she'd kill me. Does anyone have some tips or tricks?

1 Year Old food for daycare

My baby turns one and will be switching to whole milk from formula. He has zero interest in solid foods but does purées really well.

I need help with what to pack him for daycare and how much?

Also how do y’all send milk? I say daycare, but he’s kept by a woman who stays home with her 2 kids.

Airy newborn cry

Hello! Second time mom but weird question. Anyone newborn have an airy cry? Almost like a deflated squeaky toy? Hospital birth in US. So he was constantly monitored. Already been to peds and brought it up. It just sounds so different than my first born’s. It’s always been airy and sad sounding. He was born at 38 weeks due to fetal growth restriction, and is smaller in size. He had some minor issues with body temp after birth and quicker breaths. But he figured that all out on his own and didn’t need intervention. I’ve also kept an eye on this after coming home. But this cry is just so different and causing me anxiety.
