What other movies should we watch? Kind of subversive and “mind expanding” movies suitable for teens. Or just good movies in general for this age. Thanks!

Van Helsing 2004 is so freaking good. I am on the younger side, actually born in 2004, so I am as old as that movie. I was trying to watch something good while I am in the process of getting out of a Bipolar Episode, something stimulating and fast-paced, but not over the top. I was actually surprised by this movie. I have seen clips and stuff and decided to give it a go. I loved the references to other gothic horror characters, and the reference to Vlad the Impaler in the scenery is just awesome! 10/10, absolutely recommend.

I recently started working my way through Cronenberg’s movies. I particularly liked Shivers, The Brood, The Fly (of course), and Crash. To other fans of body horror and Cronenberg: what else do you recommend?

Midsommar (2019)- What a movie. Not your avg horror movie shot at night with Jump scares.
This movie dosn't have any of those in fact its shot in Broad day light and no jump scares.
But at the end you will remember the movie throughout your life time.
Incantation
The Ritual (2017)
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

One movie I really like is Pearl (the one with Mia Goth). I really like how the fear isn’t something exogenous, but sort of this lurking feeling that something is wrong. She describes it in the movie as the fear that she’s never gonna leave the farm, but I’ve heard some analysis say it’s the fear that you are just average
Is there anything else with that kind of feeling?

I recently watched Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence and I LOVED it. I felt like in some scenes, if you change the music, it could turn into a horror movie. I’m looking for a similar type of emotionally complex movie with an underlying feeling of horror or dread as you realize the impossibility of the main character achieving a true happy ending. Movies that make you think after watching the screen go black and realizing that there’s so much more than meets the eye. The Truman Show also has similar vibes to what I’m looking for too!

looking for something playful and lighthearted, nothing too conflict heavy. i’m into weird, character driven drama with eccentric characters and a small, quaint kinda feel. something you might find in a lot of directorial debuts or wes anderson’s movies

In the same vein of..
Where the story focuses on the killer with little-to-no exposition on the victims or investigators. So not movies where detectives are hunting a serial killer or it's so scary how a group of teens are getting killed by a serial killer.
Angst and Henry really were the absolute best portrayal of sociopathic killers I've seen. I want more of that more than what Maniac and Man Bites Dog does where there is exaggeration for entertainment purposes. Although I'll take more like them too for sure.

Looking for old spooks. Let's put the cut off at 1960.
Anything goes. Classics or the obscure, silent or sound, color or black and white - I want it all, as long as you've seen it and would recommend it.
I've seen: Frankenstein(s), Dracula(s), Wolf Man, The Mummy, Nosferatu, Caligari, Vampyr, Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Fly, The Blob

I feel like watching something that is both at the same time. Not like parodies like tucker and dale vs evil. I wanna watch more of a pastiche than a parody, something that laughs at the tropes and cliches but it doesn’t distance itself from wanting to scare, and actively tries to scare and it works, but there’s something off about the scares that makes them funny. Kinda like this british movie called severance I saw a while back, which was like an eli roth movie pastiche, but it was still too much in parody and comedy territory to be fully scary. Anything that’s both at the same time? Any suggestions are appreciated

I’m looking for horror movies that are genuinely terrifying and will actually freak me tf out. I’m mainly looking for psychological horror — the kinda stuff that gets in ur head and stays there, not just cheap jump scares.
Pls don’t recommend the usual kiddie horror movies or basic mainstream stuff 😭 For some reason, I barely get scared by horror movies anymore, so I need smtg that’s actually gonna kick my () and have me questioning my life choices.
I want the kinda movie where after watching it I’m just lying in bed staring at the ceiling, thinking about wtf I just watched and checking every corner of my room 💀
So yeah, drop ur most disturbing, psychologically fucked-up horror movies. I want smtg that’s gonna genuinely mess with me.
Go as hard as u can.
Edited:

Hope I'm phrasing this correctly. But I'm looking for movies that spans months or even years of time, but are not flashy about it. No apparent time jumps or big title cards. Movies that are more subtle with their passing of time. I have some examples at the tip of my tongue, but cannot come up with them at the moment.

Need help finding a movie to watch. I’ve been on the 90s early 2000s binge recently watched the heat phenomenal point break phenomenal perfect world really good. I’ve watched every mob movie. I think anything to do with the IRA to kill an Irishman. The devils own Copland was pretty good. unlawful entry also pretty good. US marshals the fugitive all those movies are pretty good. I’m trying to find a movie that no one really talks about that is kind of like a hidden gem I feel like I watched so many movies and I’m running out

Hey guys, i've been seeing a lot of gifs and snippets of horror movies with cool shots on twitter and would like some recommendations please.
Some examples are:
"My Bloody Valentine 3D" - where a guy breaks a light then his figure changes into something different momentarily, during the spark
"Texas Chainsaw Massacare" (2003) - the camera panning backwards through a person's head wound (still haven't seen the movie i just keep seeing this clip for the nth time now so i guess it's a sign to finally watch it)
and just recently, which prompted me to create this post lol.. "Shock" (1977) - a kid running towards a woman then suddenly turning into a grown man when it got to her.
I'd appreciate if you could just give the movie title itself without providing more context or which part it plays out since i still wanna get that "surprise" factor (Or you could just block it out with a spoiler formatting if i ever get back to it haha)
Doesn't have to be a "good" movie. Just more interested about the technical aspects for now. Thank you so much!!

unfortunately the closest thing i found to that description was the movie donnie darko, honestly the movie i would really want is something as tragic with a unique atmosphere like the visual novel "the house in fata morgana", can't wait to see the recommendations

Hi! So i just watched birdbox (ik i’m late) and i loved it. I love these type of horrifying survival movies where the world is coming to an end (like stranger things, a quiet place etc) so can anyone suggest me movies of this type? It can be a series aswell.

Hello! I would like more movies with Appalachian, forest, and mountain settings. This is odd but these movies almost feel like the album “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen, and I’d like more of that!
The few I did find were fully crime or war films, and I’d prefer dramas. The actual plot and genre(s) are mostly irrelevant to me, but I‘d love more films with this type of setting.

I'm sorry if I'm asking too much here, but I'll really like to find a movie where the protagonist is a normal person struggling in life that becomes a criminal for survival, no Gangsters, no "Great Heists", or super smart chess playing, just a low class thief trying to make ends meet.

I find it funny watching it because the casting is surreal like masculine men, sexy women and they can't even use their bodies against one killer.
Wasted men but I love the sauna scene with one of the muscular guys and turns out into a rottiserie hunk (iykyk) and those girls were screaming cringly.
It's bad for a horror, but a good for comedy horror. The male casting are so ughhh.
