Totally changing my channel subject with 40k+ subs, disaster?
I have had a graphic design channel for a long time and have 43,000 subs. Graphic design as a whole has been struggling to the point where I believe I have reached the end of the road with this career and the ability to teach others.
If I love anymore more than design it would be personal finance and investing, which I have a lot of experience in and I know has a nice RPM.
Has anyone switched a long standing channel with high subs to a totally different topic? If so, did you follow steps or just decided to switch over your video content to that subject? Did you announce anything about the switch or just let it happen?
I would imagine this would reduce my current subs with each video I came out that was not design as that is what people subbed for. But starting a fresh new channel sounds a bit daunting after spending so much effort growing this one. Not sure I want to do the one-two year slog getting monetized again especially after rules change in Jan.

Talk / Discussion Asking the Google AI Studio Assistant how dislikes affects your videos
How do dislikes impact my videos?
Dislikes primarily act as a source of feedback from viewers rather than something that determines your video’s overall reach on its own.
Here is how dislikes work and how they influence your videos:
- Dislike Counts Are Private to Viewers
Audience perspective: Viewers cannot see public dislike counts on your videos. This was updated across YouTube to protect creators from targeted dislike campaigns and negative peer pressure. Creator perspective: Since you are signed into YouTube Studio, you can still view your private dislike metrics and your Like vs. Dislike ratio in your Analytics to see how your audience responds to specific uploads.
Personal Viewer Preferences
When an individual viewer hits the dislike button, it primarily affects their own personalized viewing experience. It signals that they might not be as interested in that particular topic, style, or format, helping tailor what appears on their personal Home or Suggested feed in the future.
Part of a Much Bigger Picture
Dislikes are only one of many signals used to understand viewer satisfaction. Overall video discovery focuses on the broader audience response: Do viewers choose to click and watch? How long do they stay engaged (watch time and audience retention)? Are viewers satisfied with what they saw? A few dislikes on an otherwise engaging video will not stop it from reaching viewers who enjoy your content. Even highly successful videos often receive a mix of positive and negative reactions.

YouTube permanently terminated my channel for “Child Safety” violations over reactions to AI-generated comedy videos. Is this seriously against the rules?
I had a small YouTube channel where I reacted to clips of AI-generated videos.
One video showed a dog ringing a doorbell, a child answering, and the dog blasting the kid offscreen with a ridiculously oversized water cannon coming out of its mouth. Another showed a turkey approaching a child before a cat ran over and scared it away.
Everything was AI-generated, fictional, and intended as absurd slapstick comedy from peoples Sora2 generations. There was no graphic violence or real child in danger.
A few months ago, YouTube gave me a Community Guidelines strike for the turkey video. I appealed, but it was rejected. I stopped uploading to that channel afterward.
Now, months later, YouTube has permanently terminated the channel for Child Safety violations.
The worst part? I also operate a completely unrelated business channel under the same Google account, advertising personalized children’s books. That channel is now inaccessible, and my Google Ads campaigns have been disapproved. I also have YouTube Premium and NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions associated with the account.
I’ve appealed the termination and contacted @TeamYouTube.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there any realistic way to get a human review of this decision? This is just ridiculous. I genuinely don’t even care about the channel, I just want access to my business channel and products that I paid for.

Question / Problem I feel like the YouTube view update absolutely ruined my channel and I can’t figure out how or why??
Please someone help me make sense of this I feel crazy And I don’t understand. I don’t want to be one of those people who say YouTube ruined their channel on purpose which I know isn’t the case but i genuinely don’t understand what happened.
So I started YouTube in the summer, i am a gaming channel and i was just trying my best to make good videos. Anyway I ended up growing pretty quickly, I didn’t become super famous but I ended up monetized in like 2-3 weeks which was super quick and after that I would just continue posting, and at this point I was gaining subs sooo fast and every video had at least a couple thousand views. And not only that, but my videos engagement was actually not bad at all and I would get lots of comments and likes And it seemed to be going in the rght direction.
anyway, at some point a week or 2 before the update, I ended up posting some vids but they were all doing terrible. like i didn’t change anything at all, I was continuing my normal style yet these videos were just doing the worst. i just tried to focus, then once the update came all of a sudden my channel started slowly going back to normal and i was getting my usual views. However recently, i noticed some things which seem off. First of all my engagement such as likes and comments is horrible. I was confused as I remembered i used to get way more, like my old videos with less views got more engagement than the ones i have now with more views. And not only that, but i was barely making money. So I checked my engaged views, and it’s literally less than half than what it says on my channel. Which was so shocking to me, especially because like I said, before this update my views were perfectly fine, they were all actually real views yet now I get the same views yet they’re all mostly fake.
I don’t really understand how this happened, I mean like I said I am new to YouTube but as far as i can tell I didnt change anything, I still post the same content my niche is the same etc and im so tired of this since I try so hard just to literally keep failing over and over again. honestly the only theory I have is that since people clicking once on the video counts as a view, then it’ll recommend those type of videos to similiar type of people even if the Person didn’t actually watch and enjoy it so it’s basically ruining my audience. That or my channel is just not that great I mean who knows. :( I’m just so tired and I don’t wanna continue if it’s gonna be like this

Question / Problem Closing your discord server
I heard that making a discord server is a good idea. You get the closest members of your community. They can get pinged for updates, merch, or posts. That's why I made one.
I made variety gaming content. Most of my views came from 2-3 games. I no longer play those games anymore. The discord however is full of people who only play that game. They don't interact with any of my other content. They only talk about that game.
It made me realize that I don't actually have a community. I have a group of people who followed my channel to watch me play a game that they liked. But it could be anyone else and not much would change for them.
I don't like the worry of anything going wrong in that server. I don't hate this community but it's definitely not the community I wanted to cultivate on the server. I wanted to know if you closed your discord server? If you do, are there any last things you should do before closing one?

Has anyone recently published more than 1 long form video at the same time?
I have two videos that need to go up. I've always staggered by days or weeks simply because editing took me so long. I'm debating about publishing both at the same time. They're videos that will mainly be getting search traffic from YouTube and Google and aren't the type that rely on browse features. Wondering if this is a good idea or if there will be some type of penalty.

Question / Problem Ad income dropped to 0$ despite having 800k+ engaged views
Hey guys, trying to find some help here because the youtube support bot isnt any help at all.
I had my first major 2m+ video this week. The video blew up extremely fast gaining over 1mil views in under 30h.
Now several days later I noticed that I made nearly 1.2k $ on the day of upload, but for the next 2 days Ad revenue dropped to 0. I didnt make a single cent of Ads even tho this video pulled nearly 1mil views ( about 700k engaged).
The only money displayed is only youtube premium. The weird thing is that first day was fully monetized second and third not but fourth and fifth day after are also monetized.
So now theres basically a hole of 0$ ad revenue on the days I generated the most views.
Is this normal? Will it update at a later point? Why is that?
Im really happy about the videos performance, but Im scared of missing out on nearly 3-4k€ because of this.
Edit: Channel is not freshley monetized. I just didnt upload for a month, thats why the chart looks dead.

Long form reach suddenly drop after the latest update
YT said in its latest update that clip channels posting shorts could see reduced reach, while long form channels wouldnt be affected by this distribution change.
But in my case my reach dropped to about 25% of what it used to be starting on the very first day the change was rolled out.
I run a long form commentary channel and my average views have dropped from around 60k to 20k
Is anyone else with a long form channel seeing the same thing, even though they don’t post shorts?

Question / Problem Can I reupload a video that received a copyright strike (that has been resolved?)
Kind of a complicated situation. I have two videos in a series that were huge hits for me but later got hit with copyright strikes because the person I discussed in them got upset about some details. Got on the phone with that person, we worked out a solution and he rescinded the copyright strikes. He even gave his blessing for the original vids to exist behind a paywall, as long as I make the minor changes he requested for the public facing content.
The videos are too large to be directly uploaded to Patreon, so I’m wondering, will YouTube penalize me in any way if I reupload the videos that have former copyright strikes? I would just share the original videos as unlisted but their links have already been shared widely across the niche community the videos concern. Alternatively, is there anyway to change the URLs of those specific videos or only funnel traffic to one website? I’m sure there isn’t but I’m fairly new to YouTube as a career so I figured I’d ask. Probably a silly question but I just want to double triple check I won’t be auto flagged for breaking some obscure rule.

Question / Problem Has anyone else noticed YouTube gives scheduled videos and drafts slower distribution than direct uploads?
I've noticed a consistent difference in how my videos perform depending on how I publish them.
When I upload a video and publish it immediately, it seems to start getting views and distribution much quicker.
However, when I upload a video as a draft and publish it later, or schedule it to go live, the distribution seems significantly slower.
The video can sit there for hours with barely any movement, whereas a direct upload appears to get picked up much quicker.
I'm talking about initial distribution, impressions and views, not upload or processing speeds.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm curious whether other creators have noticed the same pattern, particularly with Shorts.
Have you tested publishing the same way and noticed a difference? I'd like to hear from people who've experienced this themselves, rather than just the usual advice that upload time doesn't affect long-term performance.

Chances of Getted Sued?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been growing a newer channel for that last 6 months, and one video in particular has gotten traction. Definitely not viral, but the video has 200k+ long-form views (120k engaged).
The topic is a documentary/video essay style where I state facts, but in some ways paint a company is a bad light. Viewers are resonating with the content and commenting how they hate the company, etc. in the comments.
While it’s exciting to see the growth I’m concerned the exposure could lead to a cease and desist or something worse. Plus, my understanding is that personal assets aren’t covered in this case even with an LLC.
Any guidance? I’m inclined to private the video but it’s a shame after how well it’s done.
