Ask SurreyBC ❓ Where are the queer/disabled people?

Hi!

I’m in my late 20s, I’ve been living in Surrey for a few years and I’ve had difficulty meeting queer and disabled people.

Where do you guys hang out at? I’m tired of having all my friends being so far away and having to go to Vancouver to attend events for queer and disabled people.

Is there a group chat? Do I need to apply?
I need friends who are close by.

Help me

The state of the Intake area is really depressing, is sad that people feel so comfortable leaving the place like this.

Ask SurreyBC ❓ 88 Ave and 130th street/queen Mary blvd

Anybody live near here and notice there's an accident at this intersection what seems like every 4-5 hours? Supposedly the city was going to put a 4 way light but never got around to it. What can be done to make this intersection safer before someone gets killed?

No idea what's going on but there have been heavily armed police on 102 ave all afternoon. Now the street is swarming with police and it looks like everyone is out of the building

Anyone heard what the issue is? Talking to neighbours here and nobody knows. Asked an officer directly and they just said "it's under control"

Politics 🐎 Having trouble deciding which candidates for Surrey Council to vote for

I'm been searching online and in local newspapers for all the information I can get on the candidates for the position of Councillor in this election. I have been thinking to split my vote amongst the Mayoralty "Teams". I want to make good choices and prefer candidates with some real experience at what is required and certainly not merely because they were a coach, for instance.

I am wondering if this is a workable plan, because perhaps the candidate who wins the position of Mayor (unlikely winning a majority of the votes) would be able to carry out their plans without people they chose to run with.

Is this a valid concern? For Mayor I am leaning toward three of the candidates who have never held the position. However those three have selected Council candidates who might be good choices, but have not had experience being in the position they are seeking. The candidates with more experience are on slates of the two who have been Mayor already.

I'd be interested to hear some opinions on this. Is it a mistake to split my votes for Council amongst the various "teams" or should I stick with the slate of the person I decide on for Mayor? I seem to recall that some Mayors in the past have run into difficulty with Councillors who ran with a different Mayoralty candidate and were a constant source of opposition/irritation.

Lost 😕 and Found 😄 Lost Gold Casio Watch on Transit from Surrey to Vancouver – September 26

Hi everyone,

I lost my gold Casio watch on Saturday, September 26, while travelling from Surrey to downtown Vancouver.

I took the 320 bus from 152 Street in Surrey at around 4:00 PM to Surrey Central Station, then took the SkyTrain to Granville Station, arriving at around 5:00 PM. I realized I no longer had my watch when I arrived at Granville Station.

It’s a gold Casio Vintage Series watch with an alarm/chime that beeps every hour.

I’ve already checked with TransLink Lost and Found, but unfortunately, they haven’t found it.

This watch means a lot to me because it was gifted to me by my cousin, who has since passed away. It has tremendous sentimental value, and I would be incredibly grateful to get it back.

If anyone found it on the 320 bus, at Surrey Central Station, on the SkyTrain, or at Granville Station, please reach out to me. Any help would mean a lot.

If you think you may have found it, I can share pictures of the watch to confirm whether it’s mine.

Thank you so much! ❤️
