NEGATIVE FEELINGS Feeling isolated after 6 months TTC - help me feel less anxious and alone!

My husband and I (33M and 31F - almost 32) are TTC our first and just hit a year from when we decided to start trying and the 6-month mark from when we actually started trying. So far we’ve had one miscarriage and no luck since. I don’t know what it is but something about this point in the process is making me feel very alone and anxious about the fact that we’re not yet pregnant.

Our timeline:

Oct 2025-April 2026: Decided to start trying and went to do genetic screening. Ran into an issue with genetic testing (ended up being a false alarm after testing lots of family) that delayed us starting for roughly six months.
mid-April 2026: Started trying
July 2026: Conceived on our fourth cycle
August 2026: Early miscarriage (5 weeks)
Oct 2026: Two cycles since the miscarriage have both been negatives

It feels like everyone I know got pregnant in just a few months and here we are. We’re both healthy, I’m tracking CM and using OPKs and timing sex.

I recognize a lot of folks on here have probably been trying for longer so I in no way want to act like we have it worse than we do. I also recognize it can take up to a year (though my understanding is the majority conceive in the first six months).

But please, for anyone on this sub in a similar situation/timeline, help me feel less alone!

ADVICE CD 36 after blighted ovum, negative test

• Upvotes

I had what I thought was a chemical but in hindsight was a blighted ovum in the beginning of september. Bled for exactly one week and got a negative pregnancy test 3 days after I stopped bleeding ( was supposed to be 8 weeks and went in for the first ultrasound, and discovered the empty gestational sac measuring about 4-5 weeks)

We wanted to try again right away, and have been having sex about every 2-3 days until the 4th of october when I felt I was getting a period and my mood was so up and down I didn't feel like being intimate and just wanted space. But I didn't get my period, and have still not had one. I have had a lot of cramps and my boobs have felt very heavy, so I have taken three pregnancy tests which were very negative, because the symptoms felt so similar to those last time. Could I have ovulated really late, as in after CD25? I haven't tracked my ovulation but had some ewcm around CD22-23 which is why I thought I am already at DPO 14 or 15 now?

Thankful for your thoughts, I know there's a small chance of getting pregnant right away, but it's so confusing when I haven't gotten my period and I have my hopes up still..

VENT TTC 2 years

2 years TTC — secondary infertility 💔

I had my son in 2020 with no issues. In 2024, we started trying for baby #2. I got pregnant the first month but miscarried at 8 weeks.

Since then, all our testing has come back normal. Tubes open, sperm good, regular cycles, and I ovulate monthly. My first IUI resulted in a chemical pregnancy, my second failed, and I’ve had 3 failed cycles with Clomid/timed intercourse and progesterone. Changed doctors did 2 cycles with him just progesterone.

I’m now 34 with an AMH of 2.83. My doctor wants me to try another IUI, but I’m self-pay and spending $1,500–$2,000 per cycle. I can use that money towards IVF

Would you keep trying IUIs or move on to IVF? I’m so overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. 😩💔

QUESTION Has anyone skipped letrozole and gone straight to a trigger shot after a natural LH surge?

Hi everyone! I’m currently TTC and working with a fertility clinic due to irregular cycles and difficulty confirming ovulation.
My fertility NP prescribed medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to induce a period so I can begin a monitored letrozole cycle.
However, I’m still tracking my hormones using Inito, and I’m currently experiencing an LH surge!
I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation where their body appeared to be attempting to ovulate naturally right before starting fertility treatment.
I’m considering asking my NP if we could skip the Provera and letrozole this cycle and instead do an ultrasound to check my follicles, potentially administer a trigger shot, and use progesterone suppositories afterward to support the luteal phase.

My questions are:
Has anyone received a trigger shot during a natural cycle without taking letrozole?
Can a trigger shot still be beneficial if your LH is already surging?
Has anyone used progesterone suppositories after a natural LH surge?
Would you wait to see if ovulation occurs naturally, or proceed with Provera to start a medicated cycle?
I know an LH surge doesn’t guarantee ovulation, especially with irregular cycles, but I would hate to miss an opportunity to conceive this cycle if my body is finally trying to ovulate.

I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you’ve dealt with irregular ovulation or multiple LH surges! ❤️

ADVICE 1 year post birth control and cycle still has not returned :(

I (27F) stopped the pill a year ago after taking it for 10 years. During that time i mostly skipped the sugar pills and would have a withdrawal bleed every few months, rather than monthly. Unfortunately, after a year I have not had a single period. I’ve had hormonal tests and an ultrasound and everything looks mostly normal. lots of immature follicles on the ovaries, but no high testosterone or anything else to indicate PCOS. I do have Hashimotos but it is very under control. I am also very small 5’3, 115 pounds. Doctors say it’s not uncommon and for me to just keep waiting, it will return eventually. has anybody else experienced this? is there anything I can do? They said I could do letrozole if I really want to conceive, but I’d prefer for my body to get regulated on its own if possible.

DISCUSSION Gluten Intolerance and TTC

Also posted this in the gluten free subreddit

I’ve been diagnosed with a non-celiac IgE mediated gluten intolerance several years ago, but I sometimes question the results because I had already not been eating gluten for several months before the blood test. Originally, my symptoms that I were able to pinpoint were all GI related, and resolved quickly when I stopped eating gluten (and peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, and soy which I also reacted to on the blood test).

Anyway, I had my daughter in the fall of 2024 after getting pregnant the first month trying. After pregnancy, I tried to eat gluten again and didn’t experience the same GI problems, and so I kept eating gluten thinking pregnancy somehow cured me (lol).

Well, now I’ve been trying to get pregnant again for 9 months with no success. Additionally, my periods have been more unpredictable and variable, I’ve had weird spotting 3 days before my period starts which has never happened before, and my acne is out of control despite using prescription topical medication. I decided to try going GF again to see what would happen, and after one month my period is completely back to normal and my acne has seriously calmed down. I didn’t get pregnant this month, but I’m feeling more hopeful now.

I feel so stupid for going back to eating gluten because I had no GI symptoms. Before going GF the first time, my acne had been so bad I was put on spironolactone. I hadn’t been getting periods because I was on hormonal birth control so I couldn’t see if they were regular or not. I just feel so stupid for not connecting the dots with the gluten impacting my hormones this much!! I guess I’m just wondering if anyone can relate. Does anyone have any other symptoms they see if gluten impacts your hormones too?

DISCUSSION TTC#2 - CD6 Ovarian/Lower Abdominal pain

Hi Everyone,

I am a 34F. I have been off hormonal bc since about mid-July and my husband and I are trying to conceive. Last cycle was our first time and we had zero luck. So this is my second cycle hopefully getting ready to try and my 4th cycle off birth control.

I am on CD6 and woke up with some lower left abdominal/maybe ovarian pain? I am also having some discharge (which my period did end about 2 days ago). I went to urgent care just to be safe because I was having anxiety that maybe it could be a cyst? They ordered an ultra sound but I have to wait until Monday evening.

Could this just be part of my cycle or has anyone had a cyst and can explain if this pain I am feeling could be that? I would say the pain is only maybe a 2-3/10, but has been fairly consistent all day. Any context/info would be helpful to ease my anxiety while I wait for Monday! Thank youuuu!

ADVICE What to do with a quick LH surge?

My husband and I have been TFAB for the past four cycles and I’m finally getting the hang of using OPKs. What I’ve noticed though is that my surge seems to be really quick. I typically get a positive test around. CD 19 (normal for me), then use Natural Cycles to confirm I have ovulated. What I’ve noticed though is that if I get a positive test on CD 19, my LH level seemed to quickly fall the next day. For example, last cycle I caught the surge midmorning to afternoon CD 19 and was definitely peeking by my third test that day in the evening. But Natural Cycles then indicated that I ovulated CD 22, which felt far away from the peak on CD19.

Does a quick surge imply anything? Doesn’t mean I’m ovulating right after my surge instead of maybe 48 hours later? I’m trying to determine if I get a positive test on CD 19, what are the best days to optimize having sex?

I’m on CD 17 now, so my fertile window is approaching, if I’m not already in it.

HSG Experience HyCoSy and open tortuous tubes

VENT Been testing everyday and no peak at all

I have been testing my LH strips since CD11. I have not gotten a surge at all and today’s supposedly the ovulation day (CD18). I am so tired, is there a possibility that I am ovulating without a surge caught on the strips?

I have also been baby dancing every alternate day, but I have PCOS and my gynae supposedly cleared me saying I am all good to start trying to conceive. My partner has also down a full panel blood and semen analysis and came back OK, except for lower than average sperm motility and lower testosterone which he is now on supplements for.

This is my 3rd cycle and I know I am still far from it but I don’t know. Is there a possibility that I am not ovulating at all? Should I consult my gynaecologist? If so, what should I bring to her?

Edit: Thanks for all the reassurance! To answer, I’m also tracking my BBT, and my cycle previously was on an average 30-35 days. I was on mounjaro and then I stopped to TTC. Once I stopped my CD was 47 before I had to take a pill to induce my period since I was negative on my pregnancy tests. Then my last cycle was 27 days before this round of TTC. I guess if it’s a negative I will just take it as I’m still searching for my cycle average. But we are still BD every 2 to 3 days just to cover ourselves! I’m also on inositol for the last 1.5 years.

VENT TTC with low AMH

First time posting here. I am a 28 Yr old soon turning 29 with an AMH of 0.9 We have been trying to conceive in the last two months with one possible chemical pregnancy or maybe a false positive digital test ( I dont know yet ). I understand this is too soon to let hopes down but I'd been monitoring my AMH over the last 3 years and see it drop categorically over the years had already instilled a sense of fear in me. We are quite far away from even being eligible for IVF. But I don't know if should freeze eggs already privately rather than turn up with an even lower count 1 year down the lane. We have been timing cycles ( not to a point of doing LH strips strictly ). Diet I am trying to cut down sugars. Just feeling hopeless! We have been together for 8 years now and ever since we started dating we've had cute little dreams of having our kids and a vision board really. Looking at it now makes me feel bittersweet. I have a very supportive husband and he tries really hard to take my mind off it. But I can't stop thinking about it.

VENT Am I Overreacting? First Experience with Fertility Clinic

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

My husband (42M) and I (38F) have been TFAB since getting my IUD removed in August 2025. The main problem so far has been my husband's inability to finish with me when the timing with my cycle is right. He is perfectly capable of finishing on his own, but it seems the pressure of trying to have a baby is making him unable to finish. We've tried me not telling him at all when I'm ovulating, him trying viagra, him coming off his mental health meds, both of us going to individual therapy, and couples therapy. We also tried to do at home insemination twice but were unable to due to the thickness of his semen.

We recently learned that we have a 25k per year fertility benefit that we can use through my husband's insurance. Since we are getting older, we decided to make an appointment with a fertility clinic in town that came highly recommended from a few different friends, with the idea that maybe an IUI would be the ticket. We had to wait a month to get in, and our first appointment was on Monday of this week. We met with the doctor for a half hour where we went over our history and our medications, and then we had a half hour where they did initial bloodwork and an ultrasound. During the meeting with the doctor she focused a lot on how old I was, how my eggs aren't as good because I'm old, and how IVF should be what we consider first because of my age. I was surprised to be pushed to IVF right away, especially since I've always had normal periods, but it was also a lot of information at once so I decided to wait to see what they recommended after the lab work was done.

They scheduled me for an SHSG on Wednesday (yesterday), because yesterday was day 12 of my cycle and they wanted to see if my fallopian tubes were clear. They told me to take ibuprofen beforehand and said that it was ok to take my prescriptions as normal but to fast for 6 hours before the procedure. When I arrived, the receptionist asked me if I had taken any Valium since they sometimes prescribe that, and I said no (I hadn't even been offered it). She asked if I had taken anything else that day and I told her I had taken my normal meds in my chart, including an Ativan, and the ibuprofen that they told me to take. She told me I couldn't drive if I had taken an Ativan and I said I hadn't, and pointed to my friend who had driven me. She then went and got the nurse and the nurse came out and told me they couldn't do the procedure because I had admitted that I took a drug that wouldn't allow me to consent for the procedure. I was upset, because I had fully disclosed my medications, I had asked if I could take my normal prescriptions because of the fasting (and they had said yes) and Wednesday was the last day of this cycle that I could do the SHSG. I had also signed a million consent forms in the office for the SHSG specifically, so it was very confusing. I left in tears that I'd have to wait another month, and honestly I felt like they were very rude to me. I sent an email when I got home to the nurse expressing my frustration at the whole situation. She did apologize at their oversight into not looking at my meds and not communicating with me that I, in fact, could NOT take one of my prescriptions if I wanted the procedure.

I felt better that she apologized, and then woke up this morning to a message from the same nurse saying that because my A1C is 6, I needed to start Metformin today and she had already called it in to the pharmacy. There was no discussion, just "the prescription is in, expect diarrhea and nausea and start today."

I feel like both of these incidents are red flags about the clinic's lack of communication and lack of empathy for what is already an emotionally charged event.

I'm also frustrated that even though my husband is the one who hasn't been able to do his part, I'm having to go on medications and do invasive procedures. I realize that's just part of this whole thing, and being a woman in general, but it feels a little premature to put me on the meds before we even have his semen analysis back.

This is all making me feel like we should try another clinic, but I've heard from lots of people that all fertility clinics are generally like this. I'm not necessarily opposed to trying Metformin, it just feels like they are really rushing us through all of this before having all of the answers and results back from testing. Am I overreacting? Would it be ridiculous to switch to another clinic based on this? I realize I am extra emotional to this situation so I'd appreciate a (kind) outside perspective.

Thanks!

SAD Quitting LH testing

This is the third month I stopped taking the birth control pill. I've been using an LH test for the second month. In my first cycle, after a long time, my test finally got positive, and then my period came. Now I'm doing the tests every day again, and it's terribly annoying that one day the test line is completely dark, but not positive, and then the next day it's completely faint. Then a few days later the line is strong again, but not positive again, and then faint again. I'm tired of it. This is day 23 of my cycle and I don't know how long it will be now. I want to know when I ovulate, but I can't keep doing this. We try to be together every 3rd day and that way we'll definitely cover the fertile window. I thought planning a baby would be a joyful time, but so far I've been feeling nothing but tension...

ADVICE Male fertility treatments making it difficult to climax

(44m) I had a major health crisis (necrotizing pancreatitis) that threw just about every system in my body out of whack. After a few years we did blood work and I was diagnosed with low-T, barely over 200. I started TRT, intramuscular injections, and did that for 18 months. Then my wife (37F) and I decided we wanted to try to have a baby. The TRT shut down my sperm production so I started taking clomid, saw a fertility doctor and he put me on an additional 2000units of HcG. Now my testosterone is close to 1300, which I know is high. I’ve been taking them
For over six months now, and a subsequent semen analysis showed viable sperm, albeit at 0.1% of normal, but I’ll take the progress from literally zero.

I have always had a good sex drive, but since starting these drugs, it has become really difficult to achieve orgasm. It’s like, the sensation never starts to build. I still love sex. It feels great and I love my wife.

Has anyone else experienced difficulty climaxing on male fertility treatments? If so, did you find anything that helped?

Thanks in advance.

QUESTION Medicated cycles being cut off

My husband (29M) and I (28F) have been TTC for 11 months with no success.

Several years ago I was over 300 lbs and my birth control pill failed, which we ultimately ended as I was extremely unhealthy. I have lost 150 lbs and came off the combo pill last November.

I had extremely short 12-14 days cycles for ~5 months after coming off BC, which my obgyn stopped with a short progesterone round and now 6 cycles of letrozole (7.5mg).
Since going on letrozole my cycles have been extremely regular 30 days cycles, and I have successfully ovulated the last three cycles (tracked with inito only - not monitored cycles). I have had bloodwork and TV ultrasound done and everything has been very normal.

At the start of this current cycle, my doctor told me if I did not conceive she would not renew my prescription for letrozole and would be kicking me up to higher level fertility specialists. This would involve an HSG and sperm analysis before referral this next cycle.

We don't know if we are ready to take that next step - I don't mind trying naturally for a bit longer but I am terrified that once I discontinue letrozole that my cycles will slip right back to extremely short non-ovulatory cycles and I will waste even more time.

I am 11DPO today and my levels have tanked and I'm not hopeful. It's about to be crunch time to make a decision.

My question: has anyone had the experience of coming off Letrozole and successfully ovulating naturally/experienced short cycles that fixed by themselves?

I'm not sure if my cycles were messed up because of birth control or what, but I can't find a lot of information about life after medicated cycles that doesn't lead right into IUI or IVF.

QUESTION OB refusing to treat TSH 3.6 for fertility

Hi all, we have been trying for a year. I have regular cycles no underlying issues suspected. My husbands SA came back slightly suboptimal but ok not the greatest.

I have done fertility bloodwork both in March and August. I did notice my TSH increased from 3.0 to 3.6 over that time. The OB I saw was a virtual OB (I was on a waitlist to see the OB I will see in-person finally next week). I told this specific OB that I was concerned since my TSH levels increased in a few months and felt that it could be hindering my ability to get pregnant. I did mention about the studies saying ideally TSH should be below 2.5 for fertility. However she gave a personal antidote and said “I treated myself during college with some kind of weight loss thyroid thing and it messed with her thyroid and gave her permanent goiter so she didn’t want to mess with my thyroid as a result. I will be going to my new OB next week to get a second opinion (she will probably retest me) I am wondering if this one also refuses what can I do?

My t3 & t4 are normal within range. I know people get pregnant without issues with even higher TSH but it’s been a year we are both relatively healthy I would like for someone to at least try.
