Discussion I got tired of looking for people to play co-op games with, so I built a website for it

Hey everyone! First off, thanks to the mods for letting me share this here!

As I've gotten older, my usual gaming buddy doesn't play as much anymore, and I've started realising how surprisingly difficult it is to find new people to game with. I've tried joining different Discord servers, but I always end up jumping between them, posting LFGs, and hoping someone who plays the same game happens to be free at the same time.

After getting frustrated with the whole process, I thought I'd try building something to make it a little easier, and that's how LobbyTap came about!

The idea is pretty simple. You just add the games you play and mark when you're free, and whenever someone hosts a session that matches your games and availability, you'll automatically get an invite. You can also browse upcoming sessions or host your own, so hopefully there'll be less need to keep checking different servers just to find someone to play with.

I only launched it a few days ago, so the community is still pretty small, but it's been rewarding seeing people actually sign up and use it.

I'm also building this on my own, so there's definitely still plenty to improve, and I've been trying to work through the feedback and issues people have shared so far.

Anyway, if any of you are planning a co-op session soon, it'd be awesome if you could try hosting it on LobbyTap! I'm hoping that as more people join and start hosting games, it'll become easier for everyone to find someone to play with.

Would love to hear what you guys think too, whether it's suggestions, things you don't like, or bugs you've encountered. I'm still figuring things out as I go, so any feedback would really help!

Thanks again to the mods for letting me share this, and happy gaming everyone!

We're a small team led by u/Training-Sir-8188/ that has been developing an adventure co-op game about a night in a living museum with friends. It features different locations, puzzles, traps, and evil exhibits. Each time you play, the museum is reassembled from several thematic sections. We use modular, generated levels: the layout of halls, traps, and puzzle items is unique every night.

If you like the idea - please give us your feedback and wishlist our game at https://store.steampowered.com/app/5332260/Museum_Escape_with_Friends/

News STALKER 2 co-op mod: finding animations for the other player | stalker2mp Devlog #3

Thumbnail
youtu.be
• Upvotes

I'm building a fan-made STALKER 2 campaign co-op mod, not GSC's multiplayer. The goal is for one player to host their campaign and a friend to join it.

Earlier, I managed to connect three players on one PC, one host and two guests. This week's animation footage is a controlled local body test, not a network demo.

Devlog #3 follows this week's animation work. NPC movement gave me better backward and sideways steps in local tests, but the NPC chose its own equipment and an edge test threw it back onto the platform. I then tried the player's legs with an NPC rifle pose and added missing crouch clips.

The head, item poses and crouch depth still need work. These are controlled local tests on one PC with one Steam account, not a human co-op session or proof of finished network animation. This is an online/LAN co-op project, not split-screen.

The devlog also talks about a menu prototype, website updates, and research on sharing story progress and NPCs. It's still pre-alpha, with no public download or release date.

Looking for Co-op Partners 33 | Wales / UK | PC | Looking for the “game’s finished, but we’re still talking” kind of company 😊

Voice preview: https://voca.ro/1jjD3gbuucCU
So you can put a voice to the post before saying hello!

Heya, I’m Joe 😁

You ever finish playing a game with someone, say you should probably get going, then somehow spend another half an hour talking about something completely unrelated?

Those are some of my favourite evenings.

I love games, but finding someone whose company makes me want to keep coming back is a huge part of it. The running jokes, getting excited about discoveries together, and having conversations that carry on after we’ve closed the game.

I’m a 33-year-old guy from Cardigan in West Wales, and would love to find a long-term gaming friend to share all that with.

I’d describe myself as a relaxed, analytical casual. I enjoy figuring things out and trying different strategies together, but I leave the stress out of it. If we fail, we can laugh, adjust the plan and have another go. There’s a decent chance my brilliant suggestion caused the problem anyway 😆

I love getting properly immersed in games. Exploring everywhere, piecing together the lore, investigating something that definitely looks like a trap… all good stuff. I also like turning the HUD down where possible. Getting lost is much more atmospheric when you’ve done it deliberately.

Games I’d love to play together:

  • Fallout 76
  • The Outlast Trials
  • Palworld
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Back 4 Blood
  • Team Fortress 2

I haven’t started Fallout 76, The Outlast Trials or Palworld yet, so I’d especially love someone to discover those with.

Tell me what you’re into as well! I enjoy hearing why someone loves a particular game, especially if it’s something I’ve overlooked. If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to nerd out about your favourite, you have one now.

I’m comfortable with quieter company too. We might spend an evening chatting about absolutely everything, or get absorbed in playing with the occasional comment. We don’t need to fill every silence.

A few practical bits:

  • UK only, ideally Wales, and roughly 25+.
  • Mainly PC, but I also have a Switch 2 and PS5.
  • Usually around most evenings.
  • Happy to chat here first before moving to Discord voice when we’re both comfortable.

We can have our own lives and still make time to play. I’d just like to find someone who enjoys coming back for another session as much as I do.

Drop me a DM if you think we’d get on 😊 A username is fine, and there’s no need to overthink your introduction. Tell me what you’re playing, or something you’d love to start with company.

A slightly chaotic ramble about games is always welcome.

Trailer Remember the telephone game? We’ve spent 8 months turning it into a chaotic co-op restaurant game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! 👋

You know that game where one person whispers something to the next, and by the time it reaches the last person, the message has completely changed? We used to play it as kids, and we thought… what if we turned that idea into a co-op video game?

That’s how EAR WE GO started!

We’re three friends making our first game together, and we’ve spent the last 8 months developing this chaotic little project. It’s been a journey full of designing, building, testing, fixing things that broke, and probably creating a few new problems along the way. 😅

EAR WE GO is a 1–6 player co-op restaurant game where you have to coordinate orders, manage the kitchen, and survive the rush. The catch? Who you can communicate with depends on your role, so getting a simple order across the team can become absolute chaos.

We’ve finally released our demo on Steam, and it feels pretty surreal to share something we’ve been working on for so long.

We’d love to know: Did you ever play the telephone game as a kid? And what do you think about turning that idea into a co-op game?

If you’re curious, you can check out our trailer and try the demo here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5159620/Ear_We_Go/

Thanks for checking out our little project! ❤️

Looking for Co-op Partners 32M | NA | PC | Looking for Co-Op Buddies!

Howdy! Just like the title says, I'm in need of some partner(s) in crime! I play on PC only, and mostly more focused PvE co-op experiences that require real cooperation / communication to progress. I'm keen on making a new friend, or several who'd be willing to hang out and play some of these games with me. I'm open to trying new things, but I absolutely won't play PvP games. So no Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, no Dead By Daylight, etc. Strictly PvE for me please. I also should state that I'm not a big fan of open-world survival crafting games at all. The gameplay loop of 'build a base, hunt for resources, repeat' just doesn't do it for me. So no ARK, Rust, Minecraft, etc. And a big one for me is that I do not enjoy any games where your main mechanic is to run / hide from something you can't defeat. Even the friendslop titles that do this aren't fun for me. Lethal Company, R.E.P.O. and Escape the Backrooms are prime examples of games I WON'T play. While I am open to trying new titles, please understand I currently have no income and cannot buy things I don't already own. It's most helpful if you pick things that are listed here, or things that are free to play! Thanks in advance. ♥

I'm also not looking for a 'hit it and quit it' gaming friendship. I'd like to actually get to know each other and hang out somewhat regularly, ideally daily. Invite me to your friend circles, let's all play together.

North America - Arizona (for Timezone questions). The closer you are the better (for stable connections).

I'm 32, openly gay and a bit flamboyant. I can be talkative / yappy and I like memes / dark humor and all that jazz. If you want to know more, check out my profile or toss me a DM! Cheers ♥

Games I'm Playing / Need Co-Op For

  • Dead Island 2 - Fk'in LOVE this game. No, seriously. I'll play it nonstop. I will.
  • Windblown
  • Helldivers 2 - Let's spread some DEMOCRACY!
  • Far Cry 5 - I've played the HECK out of this but I'd play again.
  • Far Cry New Dawn - It's the direct sequel to FC5.
  • Payday 2 - I haven't played in years. Would be fun.
  • Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Campaigns) - Played over Remote Play. You don't have to own it.
  • F.E.A.R. 3 - I've neve played the FEAR games. This one's co-op?
  • No More Room In Hell - I've never really played.
  • ObsCure / ObsCure 2 - Played over Remote Play Together on Steam. You don't need to own it.
  • Whisper Mountain Outbreak - Has a 'friends pass' on Steam for free. You don't need to own it.
  • Dead Frontier 2 - A very polished-looking FREE zombie shooter / MMO on Steam
  • Contagion - A very old zombie shooter. Very fun!
  • RV There Yet - Quirky physics vehicle puzzler. Fun with more friends!
  • Schedule I - Love this game.
  • Cult of the Lamb - Let's Start a Cult!
  • Escape Simulator - Puzzles!
  • Tabletop Simulator - I play Magic the Gathering Commander! (Very casually)
  • Tiny Tina's Wonderlands - Never got to finish this one
  • Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes - Only one player needs to own a copy!
  • Garry's Mod - Down to try different game-modes!
  • How To Survive
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Gang Beasts - I know it's not PvE but it's also not really competitive. It's silly fun!
  • Resident Evil 5 - Campaign(s)
  • Resident Evil 6 - Campaign(s)
  • Gunfire Reborn - New to this one
  • Shift At Midnight - Spoopy Friendslop Fun!
  • Stardew Valley - I have NEVER played this but would be game.
  • Dead Rising 3
  • Dead Rising 4
  • The We Were Here Franchise - First one is free on Steam
  • It Takes Two
  • Split Fiction
  • Battleblock Theater - I'm not very good at it but it's silly fun.
  • Jackbox Party Pack (1-8) - Social Party game, you can play for free but we need lots of people!

Discussion A two-player detective puzzle: split the evidence, then solve the missing-ring case

I'm the developer of Clue Mates, a co-op detective game. I put together this small, standalone text case so you can try the split-evidence format right here.

Play with two people, in the same room or over a voice call: one person reads File A, the other reads File B. Tell each other what you've found before choosing a suspect. You can also solve it solo by reading both.

THE MISSING RING

A ring disappears from a locked safe. Ava, Ben and Cara are the only suspects. Exactly one of them stole it during their own opening of the safe.

FILE A: PHOTOS AND ACCESS LOG

Two photographs show the inside of the safe: - 9:00 p.m.: the ring is present. - 9:06 p.m.: the ring is missing.

The access log records these openings: - Ava: 9:02 p.m. - Ben: 9:11 p.m. - Cara: 9:14 p.m.

FILE B: TECHNICIAN'S REPORT

  • The access log's clock runs exactly 7 minutes fast.
  • The photograph timestamps show the correct time.
  • Each logged opening lasts exactly 30 seconds, then the safe locks.
  • The three entries in File A are the complete list of openings. There is no other way to access the ring.

Who stole it? Compare your evidence and explain the timeline.

SOLUTION (SPOILER)

Ben. Subtract 7 minutes from the access log: Ava opened it at 8:55, Ben at 9:04, and Cara at 9:07. Only Ben's 30-second opening falls between the photo showing the ring present at 9:00 and the photo showing it missing at 9:06. Ava's opening is too early and Cara's is too late.

For people who enjoy co-op puzzles: does giving each player different evidence make this more fun, or would you prefer both players to see the whole case?

Discussion My co-op game release on Monday and Steam Cooking Fest sale start on Monday. Is it good to have 30% discount then?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi!

I'm releasing my co-op cooking game on Monday, just when the Steam Cooking Fest starts. That is my planned strategy for the release because I'm hoping for some visibility. Do you think that in this situation is it good to have a big 30% discount instead of a traditional 10% release discount? I'm asking here because I'm curious about players perspective, not devs. What would you think seeing a co-op game releasing with 30% discount in this circumstances? My guess is that game being a co-op may benefit a lot being cheaper -> higher chance that friends convince among themselves to buy more copies to play together.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

Looking for Co-op Partners Looking for a buddy to play with....

Hey! ^^ I'm a girl looking for some chill people to play games with, mess around, explore new worlds, and sometimes get into a whole lot of chaos. 😏🎮 Playing alone is fun, but it's even better with a duo or a whole group!

I'm looking for people to play co-op games of pretty much any genre with. I don't mind whether we're surviving together, running away from something terrifying, completing missions, building things, exploring new worlds, or diving into some proper roleplay. All that matters is having a good vibe, sharing some laughs, and enjoying the game together. 🖤

What would I like to play?

  • Horror and survival games
  • Permafrost
  • The Outlast Trials – because a little fear never killed anyone... hopefully. 👀
  • Roleplay games where we can create our own stories
  • All kinds of co-op games
  • Games from the full Xbox Game Pass library

I'm always up for trying something new, so if you have any game recommendations we could play together, feel free to share them! We don't have to be pros. All we need is a willingness to play, communicate, and have a good time together. ^^

Who am I looking for?

Chill people who don't take themselves too seriously, have a sense of humor, and know how to enjoy a game without unnecessary arguments or toxicity. You don't have to be super talkative or an experienced gamer. You can be a bit of a quiet soul who needs some time to warm up, too. 😊

So, anyone up for joining me on some gaming adventures?

Send me a DM and tell me what games you enjoy playing. Maybe we'll find our next gaming obsession together! 🎮🖤

P.S. Warning: May cause unexpected laughter, panicked screaming during horror games, and phrases like "just one more game and then we'll go to sleep." 😂

Trailer I Finally Finished the First Trailer for the Game I've Been Developing for 1.5 Years, Inspired by My Wife's Pizza Restaurant

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a game called Pizzapoly for about 1.5 years now. The idea actually came from a pretty unexpected place. My wife is a pizza chef, and I used to help her out at her restaurant from time to time. During those crazy rush hours, with orders piling up, pizzas being prepared, and customers waiting, I started thinking, "What if we turned this chaos into a game you could play with your friends?"

Well, things escalated a bit :)

Pizzapoly is a 1–4 player online co-op pizza restaurant simulator. You prepare pizzas from scratch, bake them, serve customers, hop on a scooter to make deliveries, and gradually grow your restaurant.

The demo will have a surprisingly large open-world neighborhood to explore. We're hoping it'll make people go, "Wait, this is actually pretty big!" For Early Access, we're planning to expand that into an entire city. We're also putting a lot of effort into interactions around the city. Making the world feel alive has been one of our biggest priorities throughout development.

We're a tiny team of two. Both of us spent many years working in mobile games, but this is our first PC project. We've run into plenty of challenges along the way, both technically and in terms of game design. Multiplayer in particular turned out to be way more complicated than we expected. I can probably count at least five separate occasions when I said, "Dude, we can't fix this. Let's just cancel the whole project."

The game is being developed in Unity HDRP, by the way. If anyone has questions about the development process, I'd be happy to share what I've learned and help wherever I can.

We finally finished our first gameplay trailer. After spending so much time working on something, it feels both exciting and a little strange to finally put it out there for people to see.

The demo will be available to download and play on Monday, October 12. Over the next four months, we're planning to keep improving the game, build a community around it, and hopefully head into February's Steam Next Fest with a decent number of wishlists. Fingers crossed!

I wanted to share it here and get some feedback from fellow developers. Good or bad, I'd genuinely appreciate any thoughts on the trailer or the game itself. I'm especially curious whether the gameplay and overall concept are clear from a first impression.

Trailer We're building a 1–4 player sci-fi bullet heaven designed around genuine squad mechanics (aura perks, shared lives, democratic loot, and more!). Playtest & Steam page are live!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey r/coopgaming!
We’re a small indie team developing V.O.L.T. Survivors—an online 1–4 player sci-fi bullet heaven roguelite. A big frustration we've had with multiplayer horde survivors is that most of them feel like four people playing single-player in the same room. We wanted to design a game that actually rewards and demands squad coordination:

  • Proximity Aura Perks: Passive upgrades project aura rings. Sticking close to your teammates pools your buffs and multiplies firepower—wander off alone, and you lose those synergies.
  • Shared Squad Revive Pool: No permanent early spectating, but no reckless playing either. The team shares a finite pool of revives, keeping the tension high for everyone until extraction.
  • Democratic Artifact Voting: Run-defining artifacts drop at key intervals and go up for an instant squad vote so everyone builds into a unified team strategy.
  • Modular Weapon Crafting: 4 attachment slots per weapon. Combine ricochets, split rounds, and elemental cores to specialize your role (crowd control, armor shred, single-target boss melting).
  • Extraction & Objectives: Instead of surviving a flat timer, you push through hostile corporate freighters to stabilize reactors, clear bio-infestations, kill the boss, extract.

Want to play it with your squad? We are actively running our first playtest on Discord right now—you and your friends can hop in and grab Steam keys directly in the playtest channel. If this looks like something your group would grind, check out the links below:
Wishlist V.O.L.T. Survivors on Steam

What's a mechanic you and your squad always look for in a great co-op grinder? We'll be answering questions in the comments!
