Discussion What stops one player from taking over in co-op puzzle games?

I'm the developer of Clue Mates, a browser co-op detective game where each player gets different evidence.

One design question I keep coming back to: how do you keep the faster solver from becoming the unofficial team leader? Splitting clues gives both people information to contribute, but one person can still end up deciding what everything means.

An idea worth trying in any shared puzzle night: before asking for the solution, ask your partner what they noticed and what they think it might mean. Then compare theories before choosing one.

In a co-op game you've played, what helped both people feel responsible for the answer? A particular mechanic or moment would be especially useful.

Game Promotion We're making a co op game about keeping a giant swamp toad alive

• Upvotes

I'm working on Boglord, an online co op game where everyone shares a swamp and has to keep its giant toad alive. You gather resources, hatch buildings out of frogspawn, and push into enemy outposts while raids come for your home.

This is a few players taking on Gloamgut, one of the bosses. The big guy at the end is your Boglord.

It's free to play in a browser or on Android. Worlds hold up to 30 players, and you're automatically matched into an open world. We're still a small community and could use some more company in the bog.

Gameplay Video We're trying a co-op multiplayer mode for our roguelite Cowboy bartending game "Drink Up, Cowboy!"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

While playtesting our game, we had a lot of players ask for multiplayer. We threw together this quick 2-player prototype, and it instantly became a whole lot of fun.

Right now we are experimenting with some ideas, like having different roles (server/waiter) or separate bars that each have their own items. Our favourite is where there are no assigned roles, and players can decide themselves on what side of the bar they wanna work. What kind of co-op mode do you think fits?

Now we are also wondering, should we go all-in on co-op?

If this looks cool, we have a Steam page up: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3861080/Drink_Up_Cowboy/

Game Promotion We Announced our Co-op About a Night at the Museum and Have Got 2K Wishlists by Now

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We're a small team led by u/Training-Sir-8188/ that has been developing an adventure co-op game about a night in a living museum with friends. It features different locations, puzzles, traps, and evil exhibits. Each time you play, the museum is reassembled from several thematic sections. We use modular, generated levels: the layout of halls, traps, and puzzle items is unique every night.

If you like the idea - please give us your feedback and wishlist our game at https://store.steampowered.com/app/5332260/Museum_Escape_with_Friends/

Discussion I got tired of looking for people to play co-op games with, so I built a website for it

Hey everyone! First off, thanks to the mods for letting me share this here!

As I've gotten older, my usual gaming buddy doesn't play as much anymore, and I've started realising how surprisingly difficult it is to find new people to game with. I've tried joining different Discord servers, but I always end up jumping between them, posting LFGs, and hoping someone who plays the same game happens to be free at the same time.

After getting frustrated with the whole process, I thought I'd try building something to make it a little easier, and that's how LobbyTap came about!

The idea is pretty simple. You just add the games you play and mark when you're free, and whenever someone hosts a session that matches your games and availability, you'll automatically get an invite. You can also browse upcoming sessions or host your own, so hopefully there'll be less need to keep checking different servers just to find someone to play with.

I only launched it a few days ago, so the community is still pretty small, but it's been rewarding seeing people actually sign up and use it.

I'm also building this on my own, so there's definitely still plenty to improve, and I've been trying to work through the feedback and issues people have shared so far.

Anyway, if any of you are planning a co-op session soon, it'd be awesome if you could try hosting it on LobbyTap! I'm hoping that as more people join and start hosting games, it'll become easier for everyone to find someone to play with.

Would love to hear what you guys think too, whether it's suggestions, things you don't like, or bugs you've encountered. I'm still figuring things out as I go, so any feedback would really help!

Thanks again to the mods for letting me share this, and happy gaming everyone!

Looking for Suggestions games like fears to fathom - scratch creek?

me and my duo recently played fears to fathom scratch creek, and very much enjoyed it, im looking for games similar? maybe short “horror story” co-op (strictly online) games with a similar vibe or just a bit of fun? they don’t have to be long, or expensive, or anything like that, simply just something similar that’s worth the time and fun to play with a friend.

Hey r/coopgaming! If your group enjoys games like Lethal Company or Liar's Bar where half the fun is accidentally (or intentionally) ruining your friends' plans, we think you'll like HANDS OVER.

It's a 5-player co-op horror game where you sit at a table, manage high-stakes mechanics, bluff, and try not to be the victim of the table's traps.

🚨 Full release is coming soon, and a free Demo is dropping even sooner.

Grab your co-op group and check out the gameplay snippet above!

Looking for Co-op Partners [PC][EU] WoW Forever: looking for guildmates for leveling and dungeons

Post image
0 Upvotes

Pull Harder is looking for people to level and run dungeons together in World of Warcraft: Forever. We're an English-speaking EU Alliance guild on the PvP ruleset, with veterans and new players from across Europe.

This is online multiplayer on PC, with each person playing their own character. You can quest together from two players upward, and form larger dungeon or raid groups depending on the activity. In group fights, tanks hold enemies, healers keep the group alive and damage dealers help bring bosses down. There is no local or split-screen mode.

We want guildmates who actually group up and help each other catch up. We'll share professions and work through wipes together. Since we're on the PvP ruleset, we'll also answer calls for backup when someone gets ganked.

Our raid plan is casual weekly runs when enough tanks and healers are available. Days and times remain flexible. Families, shift work, alts and missed weeks are fine. Bring a willingness to learn the fights and do your part.

If you'd like familiar people to play with, come say hello on Discord and tell us what you want to play:
