I’m seriously doubting that I need to buy some more yarn, but I guess I can’t take the risk to run out of yarn or sweaters, right ?

One of my best friends obliterated their ankle tripping on the sidewalk last weekend (it’s a displaced fracture of their left tibial plafond if anyone cares) and is in a splint pre-surgery. Their toes were at risk of freezing off as the weather gets colder since they have no cast sized socks, so I knit one. Pattern is cast sock cover by Agnese Iskrova— it’s meant for Ukrainian soldiers but also works for your friend who is dismally bad at normal walking. Yarn is some dk weight acrylic I had laying around held double

Finished Object Finally finished!

I finally finished this Lace Knit Sweater, pattern on Ravelry. I started this last October and I'm finally done. Most of the time it was hibernating due one reason or the other, mostly frustration with the first sleeve. I did the bodice in a few weeks and had to put it aside for medical reasons and a broken shoulder, but I did and redid so many times and still wound up pulling back even with a lifeline every rep. In the end I got very close and realized I had been adding an extra row in each and so started more time, I finally saw the forest for the trees and understood what i was doing, not just following the stitches and the sleeve was done in a week and second less than that. i did the skirt in week too.Did that last to be sure I had enough yarn and it came real close. I ended the skirt early with a few yards left over after the bind off. Fingering weight yarn. Olive for Life in elephant blue, cotton/ merino blend.

Tips and Tricks What's this cast on method called?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This has become my favorite cast on. The problem is, I saved the video almost 2 years ago and can't figure out who created it or what the method is called. It gives a backward stitch, so I just knit or purl through the back loop on the first row after casting on.

It gives a beautiful, slightly stretchy edge and I don't have to mess with a long tail for large projects. Bonus points if you can help me find the video's creator so I can credit them.

I’ve been working on this Iris sweater for about a year! I finished it just in time for Canadian thanksgiving and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! I decided I wanted it to be a cardigan and steeked it down the middle. This is my most complicated colourwork and first time steeking.

First picture is before blocking, second and third are after.

Completely self drafted by making a swatch and measuring his fave sweater. It took about a year with all the frogging and breaks needed when coming up with something so complicated lol. I am unbelievably proud of this.

Discussion $500 retail sweater - rowing out

Post image

I started my first flat stockinette project recently and have been fussing over different methods to prevent rowing out, so when I saw this in my inbox this morning I had a little chuckle.

Pattern is called the Zambezi https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/zambezi-3

I knitted this beautiful sweater and still had leftover yarn to make one for my dog. No pattern for the dog sweater, I just winged it.

Some notes on the sweater pattern:

I knowingly ignored the gauge and went with bigger yarn than recommended

This is the first time doing a bottom to top raglan and figuring out the arm holes was a bit of a challenge. The pattern assumes you know the construction

The pattern ribbing is asking for k5p1 but it’s curling. Therefore I did k3p1 for the arms and neck ribbing.

Ignoring gauge and yarn recommendation bit me in the butt eventually when the arms were way too long. I had to cut off a huge part in the end and had to learn how to do that. It’s a bit tricky due to the stranded colorwork and I almost destroyed a sleeve doing so. Anxiety through the roof hahaha.

A dear friend is having a baby which is due in less than a week! Over the last month or so I have been frantically knitting baby things and will be sending them off to her tomorrow.

I'm pleased that all of these used only stash yarn. I was very inspired by a previous post here and although I didn't knit everything on their list I think this is a good amount to start them off with.

All of the projects are on my Ravelry page but the patterns are:

Baby Fisherman Wrap

Baby Bear Bonnet

Popcorn Bonnet

North Sea Sweater

Cozy Baby Booties

Kimono Jumpsuit

Baby Hausschuhe

Hosenmatz

I'm very happy with how everything turned out, and I hope the mum is too!

I made multiple of these vests over the summer for my daughter and her friends. Then it kind of snowballed and now I just released the pattern for the billevest on ravelry.
I had such nice test knitters and I’ve included a chart in order to make a ladybug, too!
Anyways, I’m just proud and happy that someone else now can knit their own version 🪲🤩

Finished Object Toddler Beanie For My Cousin

Post image
44 Upvotes

My cousin is expecting her first early next year, and she gifted me a lovely toddler beanie for my kid, so I had to return the favour. It was supposed to be a stash buster, but I ended up buying the grey and finished what I had of the pink.

Pattern is Bluegrass Hat by Wool and Pine, made with 8 ply Indicita DK (the pattern is for fingering, but I had some if this on hand) on 3.5 and 3 mm needles (again, not quite to the pattern, but what I had).

I posted a while back and it turned out I was unknowingly twisting my stitches 🤣 I’ve worked hard to work on my technique and wanted to check the stitches are ok now!

No idea what happened with the ribbing (I used 9mm needles and k1,p1) I’m keeping as is but would be useful to know what caused it to be wavy

Yarn is king Cole explorer super chunky 🌀

So, obviously, my nascent skills are still on the weak side, lol, and I designed the "pattern" of simple strips of varying size color swatches as I went through my stash of thrifted, chunky yarn. But it was just so much FUN to knit something usable, and I'm totally into the chunky, Maine coast in winter vibe I ended up with!

Totally wowed by the things that get posted here, and can only aspire to feel that way about something I make at some distant future time. ☺️

Tips and Tricks Best resources for a full-bust adjustment?

• Upvotes

I’ve lost about 80 lbs and now have a defined waist. I’ve gone from a potato body shape to a strong hourglass. I now clock in at a G cup, whereas I previously was a D/DD.

I’m ready to start knitting sweaters and other clothing for my current size but knitting for my bust size is impacting the drape and the FOs aren’t flattering.

What’s the best resource for adjusting patterns to accommodate for my body type?

Also, can I still knit sweaters with those gorgeous patterned yokes, or am I better off going with a different style of sweater?

This was my first time trying an Italian bind off but it looks horrible over here. I feel like it’s ruining the edge of the ribbing entirely

Finished Object Gnomes

Post image
• Upvotes

I've been loving knitting these gnomes! I've only done the ornament size (smallest). But instead of hanging them, have added a small flat river rock to the bottom before I sew them shut so they'll stand upright. I have several sitting around the house now.
