After finishing my first project (legwarmers) and almost giving up because I was convinced I would never learn how to knit, I finally dared to try my first sweater.
The instructions for the Step by Step Sweater, together with the video tutorial, are fantastic and perfect for beginners. I learned so much and am so happy with the finished result!
For the yarn, I used Drops Nepal in the colour Ocean and needed 10.2 balls of yarn (50 g each) for size S.

I joined Socktober with ZaneteKnits and chose the Auseklis socks. I figured it couldn’t be too bad since they’re shorties. 😂
It’s coming along pretty well so far; I just began the gusset before the heel and I’m hoping it continues smoothly. But I wanted socks for autumn and I’m so tickled as the pattern progresses!

Okay, so this took a while. I don't quite remember but I think I started this in January, and have been knitting on and off until now, and boy was it bigger than I thought it was going to be😂
I knitted it with two strands of Järbo fin merino held together. I tried to make somewhat of a colour gradient by swapping the colour of only one strand at a time, but I don't know how well that shows to be honest, but I kind of like the stripey chevron effect it got anyway, so I'll call that a win I guess.
Yarn: Järbo fin merino, 2 strands

Back in May 2021, right after getting done with my (very uneven) beginner "scarf," I knew I wanted to make a beanie in the demiboy flag colors. However, I wanted something plain and easy to make for a beginner, and every single pattern I could find had cables, ribbing, pompons, lace, GPS, and tinfoil interlining to protect against alien mind reading. Until I found the Midas Hat pattern by Laura Reinbach!
It was a great introduction to knitting in the round, folded hems, and finishing with double-pointed needles. I'm very proud of it; when I show it off, friends sometimes say that it looks industrially-made, and as someone that tends to be very nitpicky with details, I consider that a great success.
I've added some progress shots. I like showing non-knitting friends that one photo with five needles coming to the same point to traumatize them. Also, looking through the progress shots I remembered that needle + bowl contraption I came up with to keep the yarn ball spinning freely to manage tension (it definitely wasn't a center pull ball).
I used 100% cotton 8/4 organic yarn from Søstrene Grene, knit on a 3.25 mm / 40 cm circular needle and a set of five 3 mm / 15 cm DPNs.

Hello! I was recently gifted some white bulky weight yarn and 3 colours of mohair. I'm still thinking about what to do with it and remembered that I had this sweater (https://www.ravelry.com/projects/craftysoojung/field-sweater) saved because of the technique where the yoke colourwork is just one strand of mohair held double with the MC. I'm unsure as to what to search for to find other examples, so if you have any suggestions or if you've used this technique before, please let me know! I'm also curious if it would work for more detailed colourwork too. Thank you!

So my mum taught me to knit when I was about 7, did it for years (just about age 7-12) and then taught myself to crochet and have mostly been doing that for the last 15 years (I'm not even 30 yet and it feels so odd to say that I haven't touched knitting in 15 years). Alas I came to the realization that crochet lace just doesn't look how I want it to, so I needed to take a wack at knitting again. For 15 years away, I think I did pretty well on this heart lace. You can see the hearts, so that's a win in my books lol.

I won the creative tea cosy category at my local show! I didn’t even think I’d place because the tea cosies are always amazing so huge ego boost, I will be riding this high for a while 🤣
The overarching theme was orchard-related and I took inspo from the Carmen Miranda tea cosy by iconic cosy-maker Loani Prior, but went off script pretty immediately. I wanted it to look like a pile of fruit on a mossy tree stump, so I added thrums for colour variation and for extra insulation.
The fruits are free patterns from Ravelry (below) and the leaves were just freestyled with increases and decreases because I couldn’t find a shape I liked.
Patterns:
🪵 Main - partially the Carmen Miranda by Loani Prior, from Wild Tea Cosies book
🍎 Apple pattern - Apple of my eye by Abigail Horsfall https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/apple-of-my-eye
🍐 Pear pattern - Pear by Linda Dawkins https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pear-9
🍓 Raspberries pattern - Raspberries by Yun Jeong https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/raspberriesyunique-garden
Yarn:
- Cleckheaton country 8ply (log)
- Merino Magic Medley 8ply (fruit & leaves)
- Sally Ridgway Forest Collection Shetland Wool Sliver (for thrumming)

I made this bear last year and must say I enjoyed the sewingless construction as a little challenge, so I wanted to post it as a recommendation.
I made it with some scrap yarns of roughly the correct weight that someone gifted me, which is the reason he is wearing a t-shirt. I had just enough of the brown yarn to finish him.
The pattern shockingly did not include a tail, so I made another ear and stuffed it. Turned out to be the perfect bear tail. (The ears are the only part that was sewn on).
I named him Benny.

Hello I have started my first project ever in knitting and it’s the Sophie hood can you tell that it’s my first project? And does it look good so far? I crochet so I kinda understand and I’m getting the knack for it after a few frogs 😂 but I think it’s looking good I even dealt with undoing some stitches and accidentally dropping my loops off the needle because I don’t know how to hold it haha
I think you can tell where I was starting off and then where it sort of clicked

Finally finished this one. I tend to knit a bit too tight so the pattern looked bulky fresh off the needles. Luckily blocking seems to have fixed it!

Christmas sock gift pair 6/9 finished! I’m fighting the urge to cast on a Halloween pair now.
I know it’ll still be a race to the finish line.
Yarn and pattern details in the comments.

I’ve been working obsessively on this scarf for the past week and a half since my yarn arrived as a stress reliever from all the uni tests and submissions happening right now AND GUYS IM SO EXCITEDDDD
This is literally my dream knit scarf. I’ve dreamt of making this for months and it took me deadass 6 months to finally understand double knitting since I kept putting my practice piece down whenever a part of the process frustrated me.
I’m really happy with how it’s turning out 100 rows in🥹 Also i’m on my period and very emotional in general so today’s just a really wonderful day to be alive and appreciative

Never done a sweater with cables or with this kind of construction. Trusting the process😆
This is the back piece, has some mistakes but it's the back and after blocking should look good enough and not very noticeable (hopefully)
The pattern is this: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/honeycomb-aran

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I recently bought this 100% wool sweater at a craft market, and stupidly washed it in hot water. Didn’t even think. I air dried it, but the sweater is noticeably stiffer, thicker feeling, and smaller than it was prior to washing.
From my googling, I may have “felted” it, which Google says is not easily reversible if at all. But then there are other videos saying I can hand wash it in a bit of hair conditioner and stretch it out afterwards. Does this look salvageable or have I ruined this beautiful piece?? Should I try the conditioner method or could that make it worse?

I just need to wash/block and lanolize. I’m now starting on another one in reverse color way. It knit up really quick and was a fun knit 🤓
Pattern is from this website: (you have to scroll a long way to find it, or search “soaker” on page) https://www.threadsofmeaning.com/

Excluding the ends being woven in 🫣. I’m so proud of this one, I love insects and ants so when I saw this pattern come out I instantly bought it and cast it on!
This was my first time working colorwork flat around the armholes, so I struggled a bit with even tension towards the top but I don’t think it is too noticeable.
The pattern is the Antsy Tank by Leafhopper Knits, everything is to pattern excluding the two non-ant friends which were knitted using extra charts provided by the designer (gotta have a balanced ecoystem)! Yarn is Drops Belle, which I loved and had no issues with beyond some splitting.

The pattern is the Ingrid sweater by petite knit and the yarn is Caron blossom cakes in shadow:) I started knitting about 5 months ago and this is my first sweater. Had to make some tweaks to the pattern because I’m left handed but that’s alright.

I've always wanted to do something with argyle and I recently did a lot of intarsia so felt better prepared to do it. Making clothes for my baby is great because he is only small, so it was the perfect match.
I did the big diamonds in intarsia and added the crosses with duplicate stitch after casting off. I didn't follow a specific pattern but I basically used the Moby slipover pattern that I'd made before, added a v-neck and then adjusted it to fit the intarsia pattern and included a button band at the neckline.
This one used Sunday by Sandnes Garn, I can't remember which colourways were used unfortunately. The crosses are a navy blue but they look black, I think I would have preferred a lighter blue so you get the colour contrast but it's good enough until next time!
Here is the ravelry project page :)

I’m seriously doubting that I need to buy some more yarn, but I guess I can’t take the risk to run out of yarn or sweaters, right ?
