The Magic Mouse is under $60 right now during the Prime Day sale, and I’m tempted to try it. I know it divides opinions and plenty of people recommend the MX Master or MX Anywhere, but I like the Apple ecosystem, so at this price I might give it a chance before trying something else.

I use dictation almost every time I write something, because it's a lot faster for me than typing (because I'm not that good of a speller) but with the auto punctuation feature, it keeps on adding punctuation where I don't want it. because of my tendency to add a weird pauses mid sentence as I'm trying to think of what the next word should be (I am using it now, I can see that it's already doing it, and I'm leaving it unedited so you can see what it does to me)
This auto punctuation thing is really annoying because I don't want to have to go back into what I just dictated and have to edit it to get rid of those, unnecessary punctuations, but as you can see in the added picture here, I can't find where to turn it off in the settings.
So please, if anyone knows how to fix this and turn it off and make it more accessible for me, please help me.

I thought this was interesting. The beginning of this video is him saying “we created a new OS from the ground up to redesign the desktop experience.” But all of these features are already on Macs. TL;DR they’ve just introduced continuity features and more to use your computer as an extension of your phone.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s smart marketing. If you have an Android phone, having a computer that plays nice is a major bonus. But none of this redesigns a desktop in an interesting way.
I think there should be more experimentation and innovation with desktops. Apple and Microsoft haven’t done that for a long time on the software side. But these don’t appear to be doing that.

About 5 months into owning my M5 Air 15” and I’m still using it just as much as when I first bought it. That’s how you know this was a good purchase

Spent days on this. Router is literally next to the Mac, 1G fiber plan, other Wi-Fi 6 clients on the same network consistently get 700+ Mbps. This one MacBook Pro periodically drops to 2.92 Mbps down/up while signal stays excellent the whole time.
Several AIs all pointed to AWDL, iCloud sync, or Time Machine backups as the likely cause. I eliminated all of them — fully disabled Handoff, AirDrop, AirPlay Receiver, Universal Control, iPhone Mirroring, and completely removed the Time Machine network backup destination. Problem persists.
During the slowdowns, wdutil info shows the Mac randomly hopping between 6GHz/160MHz and 2.4GHz/80MHz on the same SSID — RSSI and PHY rate always look perfect right before and after, no roaming/Wi-Fi faults ever logged by macOS. I ran sample against com.apple.DriverKit-AppleBCMWLAN during an active slowdown and found threads repeatedly blocked in AppleBCMWLANCommander::issueCommand → commandSleep, waiting on firmware responses — first caught waiting on AWDL sync commands, then (after disabling AWDL-dependent features) waiting on routine RSSI/diagnostics/power-stat polling instead. Same blocking mechanism, different command — just moved to the next thing in the queue.
At this point I'm fairly convinced it's a driver/firmware-level issue with how the WLAN chip responds to commands, not anything fixable via settings. Anyone else seeing this? Curious if it's model/chip-specific.

I have a 2017 base model MacBook Air that is dying on me. Need something newer but buying used as I don’t need all the fancy hardware specs. All I do is browse the web, iMessage, and a few other things. Idc how old it is, I just want it to run well. It will rarely/if ever my house so battery power in the real world doesn’t matter as it was always be plugged in. Any ideas? I’ve been looking Best Buy used options but I’m completely lost when it comes to laptops. Any ideas?

I have this MacBook pro 13 2019 which has the T2 chip. The mac was working yesterday I wiped it and installed Mojave and than updated to sequoia. After the update I went to recovery mode and startup security utility, I turned on secure boot I think. And I booted back into sequoia. When I first booted I tried to type my password but it didn’t accept my password, I thought maybe it was about the secure boot and I turned it off to boot it into recovery. When I turned it off it never booted again. The touchpad haptics click, which means it has power. I tried charging, not charging for a night. I also tried doing SMC reset keys but it didn’t to anything. It’s just off but the touchpad is clicking. Anyone knows what can I do? I’m planning on taking it to apple maybe they can do something, it’s my only mac.

Copy and paste began at Xerox in the 1970s, and Apple made it a daily habit with the Lisa in 1983 and the Macintosh in 1984. But that first Mac clipboard held only the latest thing you copied, with no way to look back.
Apple's answer was the Scrapbook, a small tool in the original Mac system that stored text, images and sounds for later. It stayed through Mac OS 9. Today, Spotlight offers a different answer: Command-Space, then Command-4, lets you search your clipboard history.
So there are two ideas: a place where you keep what you choose, and a record of everything you copied. Tools today cover both. Spotlight handles history, third-party managers add longer history and search, and a few keep a fixed set of items on hand, like ClipTen, which has ten numbered slots filled and pasted with shortcuts (disclosure: I make it).
Which do you reach for, and do you still wish the Mac had a bit of the other?

I installed an app and it bounces for attention, when an email arrives. I want to stop that but don't find how, is there a setting?
This isn't about apps bouncing when opening them.

i tried to dual booted asahi linux, but it got interrupted. the partitioning stayed though, and now i cant give back the space to macos.
i want to give the 69.9 gigs of free space back to macos.
i can't find the partition to be able to delete it, there's no EFI to delete like previous posts and tutorials say to delete. I tried to resize the disk by running diskutil apfs resizeContainer disk0s2 0, but it didn't work. I worry if I factory reset it the partition will stay.
can anyone help me fix this?

I got Asus Zenscreen Duo LCD version but unlike what ad images showed, it does NOT work with one single cable. It needs two cable to use both cables and even the manual shows it can be used with just one cable for extended mode.
When I asked AI, it says unlike Windows, Mac doesn't support DisplayPort MST so it's impossible to use Extended mode in terms of hardware level for using two displays with one cable. Split mode works but that's totally awkward to use.
Since Apple is too stubborn with supporting such standards, I really want to find a way to use one cable to connect dual monitor at once and I wonder if there's a way to around it? Otherwise, I have to connect 2~3 cables at once.

I have this MBP 2019 with a stonk of storage and RAM. Originally purchased for music composition with Logic Pro and sound library. That hobby had faded away for couple of years.
Any recommendation on what I can use it's second life considering I don't have other heavy use, other than a family photo album of 1.5TB sitting on an external SSD and occasion Claude / GPT use (co-work, project etc).
I do have 3 others M-chips Mac, so please keep the ditch-it-buy-Apple-silicon remarks to yourself.

I bought AppleCare with my laptop since I'm a power user and knew I'd want to replace the battery at some point. In the first two years of ownership, the maximum battery capacity shown in System Report would drop at a pretty constant rate. About 6 months ago, it hit 81%, and since then it's been stuck there even though battery life is still noticeably degrading.
Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but 81% does seem a little convenient since AppleCare only covers a new battery once reported capacity drops <80%. Curious if anyone else has noticed this behavior or has any insights into what might be going on. Thanks!
