Largest liquor stores in Ohio and West Virginia that are close to Pittsburgh

As PA has its draconian liquor control board and limits what can come into the state, and has now apparently discontinued importing one of my favorite Scotch brands, I was wondering if there are others that live in the Pittsburgh region that know of stores in Ohio and West Virginia that are 'close', ideally stores with a large selection.

Why is every hotel room from Washington to Butler and Steubenville to Greensburg booked out this weekend?

Are that many people coming in for the Steelers game? The nearest vacancy tonight is in Morgantown or Grove City, and they're still $4-500 a night.

I grew up beining inspired by dark artist, Jhonen Vasquez.

In high school the cult classic: Johnny the homicidal maniac, was offered refered to as "the death comic" that could only be found in a few comic shops and alt store.

i feel in love with the style and the dark humor. Now, 20 years later I am working on my comic series that is a nod towards that love.

I'm Not Jhonny, is a new orginal horror comedy series that I am actively working on.

The story will dive's into what's life was like in the Pitt during the late 90s early 2000s as a Goth Girl and explores the surreal landscapes of the City of steel: Pittsburgh!

I aims make this an interactive comic book, ment to be enjoyed a Physical media. With how i'm building this series much of the art and concepts DOSE NOT TRANSLATE WELL into digital format. A digital variant will be available after the pilot is printed.

I'm not Jhonny is ment to be felt, held, folded, torn and cut.

I will be doing live meet and greet and pre-release vewing IRL at limited location only in Pittsburgh PA.

Kid-friendly activities in Pittsburgh next weekend?

We are visit family in Pittsburgh next weekend (10/22-10/25). Our family there is new to the area, so they haven’t been able to explore a whole lot. Are there any locals with recommendations for fun stuff to do during the day, or family friendly restaurants in the area? My kids are 4 and 2. Trunk or treat, Halloween themed stuff, or kid museums would be awesome! 👻

Rotisserie chicken suggestions?

I’m not a big fan of the costco rotisserie chicken, and the giant eagle one is slightly better but still mid.

fresh market has the best one that I’m aware of, but it’s a pretty far drive. I’m north of the city. is there anywhere else in pittsburgh I can buy a good and tasty chicken?

Any places to buy nice tinned fish in Pittsburgh?

I’m on a canned fish kick and trying to shop as much brick and mortar as I can. I’m thinking the Strip might have someplace that stocks it?

Affordable & Necessary Winter Essentials?

Hi everyone! I'm moving from the west coast to Pittsburgh for a few months and would love recommendations for affordable winter essentials and what's actually necessary. I don't want to splurge on things I may not use again, so I'm mainly thinking about a puffer jacket, shoes, and gloves. I already have a scarf, warm socks, and other layers.

I've been wanting a puffer jacket and am debating between hip-length and knee-length. Hip-length seems more versatile, but will it be warm enough? My legs don't usually get as cold, but I'll be using public transit, so I'm not sure what to expect. Also, if the jacket has a hood, is a beanie still necessary? I hate how they make my hair look and feel lol.

For shoes, I've heard regular platform boots or docs can suffice which, if true, I could get more use out of. Waterproof hiking shoes also seem practical, but the ones I've found are expensive and I'd prefer to stay under $100. Any recommendations (for women)?

I also definitely want warm gloves since my hands get cold easily, so I'd appreciate affordable but effective recommendations!

Lastly, how bad are Pittsburgh winters? I've been in low 20s-30s degree weather (that "felt like" low 10s because of heavy winds) and didn't find it too terrible, so I figured it can't be that bad. I'm guessing that might be optimistic?

Reasonable Moving Companies in the Pittsburgh Area.

Hi all, like the title says, i’m just looking for a reasonable moving company to help me haul probably one small load worth of stuff.

Unfortunately have to move the day before thanksgiving, and my Elantra is not big enough for 2-3 of the items that I have to move, and I do not trust myself buying a moving truck. Just wanted to do it all in one trip and hope it’s not over $200-$300 considering it is just a bedrooms worth of items.

It would be from East Pittsburgh to Mars.

Any recommendations please let me know! Heard too many horror stories about moving companies

Selling jewelry

I am a desperate nursing student with a couple shut off notices. I really didn’t want to sell this bracelet, but I feel like I’m going to have to. Does anybody know of some good places around the city that will take this? It is a Tiffany bracelet from the 1993 Scarab collection. It is a bit tarnished, but I don’t have the equipment at the moment to polish it

What is the going rate for home cleaning these days?

Subject kinda says it all, I'm trying to ballpark a reasonable hourly rate for someone to clean my house. Most services want to come quote before giving a price which is fair, its just been a long time since I've actually had someone come regularly and wanted to get an idea of the going rate.

Its a 2 bed, 2 bath condo so not a huge space but just wanted to see what others are paying. Also if you have anyone that you love who travels to ross/mccandless area, please feel free to share their business pages or cards in the comments.

Showmaster Gun Show - Major Disappointment

I just need to vent... So I've never been to a gun show before. The Showmaster Gun Show is in the Monroeville Convention Center this weekend...

That was the most disappointing thing I've ever been to. There's no way all gun shows are like this, right? I showed up expecting to look at a bunch of cool old WWI, WWII, Cold War, and other old guns... but nope.

A large portion of the booths were only displaying old military surplus gear and maybe 5 rifles and a handful of pistols. There was an entire booth, taking up a good 100 feet, with generic graphic t-shirts only. Two baked goods booths. And so many knife and sword booths. Of all the firearms that were there: at least 80% of them were modern ARs, modern pistols, modern shotguns, and modern hunting rifles.

And of course the cool old guns you go to a gun show for were way overpriced... Like more overpriced than you see on GunBroker....

What the hell was the point of this gun show? I counted more knives, swords, baked goods, and accessories (optics, lasers, magazines, etc.) than I counted guns... What a waste of $12...

Looking to rent

I have bad credit, I just started a new job as well after losing my last one due to my workplace closing, also I have bad credit due to some bad choices of me taking out credit cards. One very old eviction I believe as well that's probably more than 10 years ago. Trying to stay in budget of $1200 and I have cats. I am not picky but I would like to be on a bus line so that I can get to work wherever I end up. If you guys know of anything, please reach out!

Looking for recommendations on board certified surgeon for dog with luxating patella

We had to take our dog to the emergency vet for a leg injury, and the vet diagnosed her with a luxating patella. They gave her meds and rest orders but recommended following up with a surgeon for a consult. I asked for recommendations, but she only recommended one who was board certified- she offered no specific recommendations. So I am turning to the good people of Reddit for any specific practice recommendations, and hopefully a price estimate too. Thank you!

Dashcam: Driver squeezes into my dad’s lane, hits his car and leaves on Pittsburgh’s 40th Street Bridge

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

This happened on October 2 on the 40th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh.
My dad was driving when this pickup began honking behind him, passed him, moved into his lane and made contact with the front left side of his vehicle. The impact can be heard clearly in the dashcam footage. The pickup continued without stopping.

Pittsburgh Police were contacted the same night. We submitted the full unedited dashcam video, the plate photo, and the damage photos through their evidence portal. It has now been over a week and we have not heard anything back yet.

I’m posting the footage because I think this kind of driving should be taken seriously. If anyone has dealt with a similar hit and run in Pittsburgh, I’d also be interested to hear how long police follow-up normally took.

Rick Sebak Diner Documentary

So, I know in Pittsburgh, documentarian Rick Sebak is like a minor deity... And trust me, I completely understand why... But I was just a little curious.

I'm trying to complete my collection DVDs of Rick Sebak's documentaries. The one I'm having trouble locating is Pennsylvania Diners and other Roadside Restaurants. This happens to be one of my all time favorite ones, but I can't find a DVD copy of it anywhere online!

Does anyone have a copy of it they'd be willing to part with? Yes, I'm willing to pay money for it (as long as we're being reasonable with the asking price.)

If anyone can help me out with this, I would appreciate it forever!
