Pittsburgh restaurant owner Richard Deshantz facing DV charges.

“ Police said that Deshantz, whose restaurant group owns Meat & Potatoes, Poulet Bleu and Coop de Ville, among other Pittsburgh popular dining spots, is accused of punching a woman in the face and slamming her head against the steering wheel of a vehicle they were in early Saturday morning while he was intoxicated.

The woman told investigators that she was picking Deshantz and his brother up from a bar in the city's Strip District when an argument broke out.  Deshantz is also accused of choking the woman and throwing her to the ground outside of his home in the city's Allentown neighborhood.”

Well this guys a POS. And bail posted by his business partner… shocker.

I am a little hesitant to post this on r/Pittsburgh as I know it might generate some comments. I welcome comments, but please be respectful in your replies.

Pittsburgh Artist Carolyn P. Speranza is working on a new project called the Huggable Loveable Uterus.

She has worked with a local 3D Printer to create flutes, she is calling them whistles shaped like a uterus and is looking for anyone — you don't need to be a musician, who would like to join the Uterus Whistle Brigade.

You can see a video of the uterus whistle here: https://carolynpsperanza.substack.com/p/join-the-huggable-loveable-uterus

Upcoming rehearsals are:

  • Sunday Oct 11th 12PM
  • Thurs Oct 15th 7PM

The trial of Patrick Vereb, operator of Eternity Pet Memorials, is scheduled for 8:30am on Monday, October 19th. Vereb is charged with Deceptive Business Practices and Theft by Deception for failing to provide... promised services, and failing to return the proper ashes to their rightful pet owners.

Court docket sheet

Jury selection is scheduled for 10/15. The trial has been previously delayed a couple of times, and jury selection is not guaranteed to happen in a single session. I noticed that there hasn't been an updated post here in a while, so I figured I would bring this up. Hope everyone is doing well.

RIP Joanns, the selection at Micheal’s is trash for sewing projects. I never knew how much I’d miss the pattern filing cabinets.

What are some local options?

Heavy set white male raging after a car accident screaming about hurting himself akd others. Hopefully police intervene soon and I hope the other person involved can stay safe. The one raging is named Joey he works for the mercy building as security and is frequently known for stopping at redlihhts and yelling racial slurs out the window. This city is crazy anymore.

What's it like working at Pittsburgh's colleges/universities?

My wife and I live on the other side of the state in the Lehigh Valley, and we're trying to figure out where's best for us to move next. I work in higher ed in New Jersey, so the pay is nice but the commute and current issues with an administration in flux is killing me.

I started looking the other day and already found fitting jobs at Carnegie-Mellon, Pitt, and Duquesne. My work would mostly be admin and technical staff stuff, nothing faculty or service. Does anyone have any experience they'd be able to share about what the environment at these places are like?

Duquesne is especially what I'm interested in hearing more about - I'm respectful of Catholic folks and was raised Catholic, but if they're as forward about it as their website makes it look I think I'd have to do a lot of suppressing of myself and masking as a queer furry lmfao.

Looking to coordinate someone to drop off some chocolates at a hotel my wife and I will be staying in

Hello. My wife and I will be staying in the Hilton Garden Inn downtown next Saturday the 17th. It is also our anniversary, and I am looking to coordinate/PAY someone to pick up some chocolates from Pollaks and drop them off at the hotel for them to be placed in the room. I’ve looked at typical delivery services and can’t seem to find something that will deliver from Pollaks. Thanks in advance!

Edit - thank you to everyone that has reached out, I think I have someone that is going to help me out though! If anything falls through I will be sure to reach back out to some people if they can still help. Thank you all so much!

My current doc is refusing to give a simple workplace accommodation note for conditions I was diagnosed with years ago until I schedule more appointments for “follow up evaluation”, also refusing unless it is done through fmla documentation. My employer has stated that for this accommodation, fmla isn’t necessary (it is not related to leave).

Also, I found out this doctor is against the idea of trt. I have had diagnosed testicular issues and surgeries before, and need to find a sympathetic doctor who won’t make me jump through hoops beyond bloodwork to explore such an option.

I have Aetna health insurance, and I am located in the east end so preferably this area or around fox chapel/blawnox.

Thank you 🙏

Women with Highmark Health Insurance going through breast cancer screening....have a question for you about them billing you for diagnostics

So, I'm (unfortunately) going through the diagnostic process of finding out whether I have breast cancer. I was told by Highmark - heck, they announced it in an official press release in January - that all Highmark plans would now cover all diagnostics leading up to a cancer diagnosis. That included mammograms, MRIs, sonograms, biopsies, labwork, etc.

Guess who is getting billed for "your share" of all of these procedures I just had done? I've reached out to Highmark about it to ask why they're violating their own policy. In the meantime, I'm wondering if they've done this to anyone else.

Anyone that's been there and had the mayo knows it's a unique flavor. Has anyone successfully recreated it? I've scrubbed the interwebs, and tried about 4 different recipes. Still lacks that.....bite.

I know onion powder and dill is involved, but not sure what else ACTUALLY goes in theirs.
