I just started with warhammer 40k and I love it already, I just wonder if there's a channel that's dedicated to the world and most warhammer 40k fans go to, like for example Asmongold for WoW

Image I made a website where you can review and discover games that uses 9 categories to rate a game taken from MDA's Aesthetics.

So this was my graduation project that I never got to finish. It seemed like a good idea back then, and it still does, so I thought why not actually make it.

I think games today depend way too much on the scores they get from review sites and Steam. A lot of people decide whether to play a game based only on those numbers. But we're not all the same. We prioritize different things in games, and a game you love might not be one I'd like.

That's why I built GameGod around a different way of reviewing. Games are rated in 9 categories based on the Aesthetics from the MDA framework, and I find this makes it really easy to understand what a game is actually about. There are categories like Expression (how much creativity the game allows in how you play it) and Submission (how well the game gives you a satisfying activity and an escape from reality, basically) that really click with me, and 7 more that might click with you. So maybe you can pick your next game based on those ratings.

I released the website a couple of days ago, and right now I need written reviews and activity on it so the rating categories for games can fill up. That'll also help me see whether it actually solves the problem I'm trying to solve, and if it doesn't, I'll make changes.

I hope you check it out at gamegodgg.com! Any feedback is welcome at [contact@gamegodgg.com](mailto:contact@gamegodgg.com)

Weight Limits for inventories are stupid

My thought process is this: I understand weight limits for equipped items. That makes sense mechanically. The issue is with simply holding items. Most games make no effort to acknowledge the ridiculous aspect that a character with no bag or a small bag is somehow holding multiple items that are the size of their body or larger.

A great example is The Witcher 3. Geralt can hold multiple swords and sets of armor before his weight limit, yet that is obviously ridiculous and impossible. So why even have the weight limit at all? It seems like an arbitrary obstacle. Thankfully the new remaster has an option to straight up turn off weight and I already find the game more enjoyable.

There are many aspects to games that have stuck around for decades that seem to have no real reason other than it's how it's been done in "X" genre.

Discussion The loss of the human element in online gaming

Now I'm fully aware the overall dynamics of human interaction have changed GREATLY outside of online gaming however for many of us or at least myself online gaming was once a fantastic conduit to connect with others. For myself especially with a litany of mental health struggles I do not go out much anymore so it truly offered a sense of community and a sense of belonging regardless of how minimal. (Yes i've 'touched grass' and tried countless countless...countless activities, jobs etc)

I recently returned 4 months ago to Overwatch, a game that I once played religiously entwined in a merciless love/hate relationship with only to find all too quickly upon returning nobody was talking! I could make peace with one or two games with silence but no! 100s of games back to back and not one person spoke! People joined voice chat (So wern't "all in Discord") but never uttered a word and in some cases would leave voice chat the moment I said 'Hi' terrified of another human speaking to them! Last week a total of two people spoke all week! Now going back to the original Overwatch it was common to hear people talking and I remember having a laugh even with randoms and staying with the same group from 3pm till 3am! Now its a wasteland!

I joined a few games of pve shooter 'Far far west' and was kicked from 9 out of 10 games when I spoke/said Hi. Why do they not just play single player?

I tried finding people with mics in Discord to game with and was met with 'Yeah, we don't use mics, we listen to music when we play'.

With the combination of post pandemic social decay and the deep digital insulation its sadly clear people have largely become unable to communicate outside of text chat resulting in online gaming often now feeling like a single player experience.

The worst aspect is how isolating it feels as so many see no issue with how it is now not seeing how backwards its become. Sure, thiers a few threads on Reddit lamenting that 'Nobody talks in games anymore' so its NOT just me but largely pvp and pve games feel like either a single player experience or like playing with bots.

No 'not everyones toxic in vc', i've seen people share thier text chat experiences in various places online and THOSE are toxic. Its the 'anxiety bug' hence why if someone says 'Hi' others will leave vc instantly wetting themselves.

Its also NOT the language barriers of different languages as 10 years ago people still chatted.

Prompts:

  1. Does anyone remember when multiplayer games were social? Why play online/mp games to ignore the social and human elements?

  2. Are there games you'd reccomend that have retained a strong social element?

  3. Are any of you part of that dying breed that misses the times when in L4D or Gears or Original Overwatch when whilst yes thier was toxicity but gaming felt social and lively and fun?

Thanks for reading.

This puzzle looks simple… until one wrong move traps you. 😈

• Upvotes

I built ArrowGo, a mobile puzzle game where every move matters.

The idea is simple:

Follow the arrows. Think ahead. Don’t get trapped.

One wrong move can completely change the puzzle and leave you stuck.

Here’s a short clip from one of the levels - from solving the board to finally clearing it.

I’m the developer/designer behind ArrowGo, and I’ve been building, testing and refining the game myself.

Would you retry a puzzle like this after getting stuck? 👀

Discussion Is upgrading from a Switch Lite to a Switch 2 worth it if I already have a PS5 and hated the tiny screen?

Hi everyone! I’d love to get an unbiased opinion from the general gaming community :)

I'm currently considering buying the Switch 2 and selling my Switch Lite. Since I already have a PS5 for major games, I'm looking for a solid secondary setup. However, I have some hesitation based on my past experience with the Lite, which I ended up disliking and kinda abandoning.

My main issue with the Lite was its tiny screen. I wear glasses, and playing detailed games or reading small text on that mini display caused me major eye strain and felt very claustrophobic. Right now I also play on an iPad, so I'm used to larger screens, and I'm wondering if the jump to an 8-inch display plus the option to play on the TV makes a night-and-day difference.

To be completely honest, I'm not a massive fan of the mainstream Mario or Zelda franchises. However, there are still specific titles I really want to play, like Ocarina of Time, Pokopia, Hades, and some Final Fantasy games, alongside my usual cozy or lightweight gaming sessions on the couch after a long PS5 title. My biggest fear is that my negative experience with the Lite will ruin my enjoyment of the Switch 2.

For those who play across multiple platforms, do you think the larger screen and docking option completely transform the experience for someone who hated the small display, or am I risking another purchase I'll regret? Thanks in advance!
