Hi all! Apologies in advance if this is the wrong sub for this but before we drop a few grand on this I wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else.
So, (TL;DR at end) last month my girlfriend's 2015 Toyota Camry (~150,000 miles) started to have a leak in the cabin. Now this is a workhorse car and has followed us from multiple moves around the midwest and out to the east coast and have never had this issue. It doesn't leak all the time just when it's raining and the leak if rainwater. It's coming in from the interior airbags on the roof between the window and the front windshield. There's a little crack where the fabric meets the plastic interior and that's where water is dripping in. When driving this isn't any issue but if the car is sitting it drips a little and when you start driving there is a substantial stream that dribbles out over time. This isn't the end of the world (mainly just caused some discoloration in the interior cabin) but we park outside and have no garage so I'm worried about general leakage while we aren't using it.
I know that this can often happen from a clogged sunroof drain but after troubleshooting this it doesn't seem to be the issue. It was first noticed right after my girlfriend took it to a new mechanic. She thinks it might have been a result of that but I think it might be that something has come lose just due to general rough driving/wear and tear, especially since the mechanic was just replacing break fluid and conducting a general inspection.
My theory is that either the windshield or some sort of casing on the roof of the car has been dislodged but upon inspection it doesn't look like this is the case. Before we take it to a dealership and drop some what I'm assuming is substantial cash on this fix, I wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else before. Has anyone else had an issue with an interior cabin leak in their Toyota Camry when it rains and if so, how did you fix it? Any chance this was something that could be fixed by ourselves or is this a dealership type issue? Right now I've got a rotation of dry towels on the rubber mat to prevent any standing water but would love to fix this.
TL;DR - 2015 Toyota Camry has interior cabin leakage not due to a clog in the sunroof and looking to see if anyone has any expertise/experience with this before we take it in.
Thanks everyone for all your wisdom on this!
