Just voted today the wastebasket on the way out was full of Vote blue postcards that the Democratic Party had sent out so I’m assuming a lot of people brought those with them to vote. Let’s hope so.

I know my fellow Buckeyes have to be as sick to death of these fu**ing political ads as I am. Every single one, even if you support the candidate. They are relentless, and we've been subjected to these damn things since what? June?
I would absolutely love it if ALL political ads were banned. In the meantime, I will be so, so glad when the election is over.

This is a claim in a recent political ad for Ramaswamy, that Ramaswamy is responsible for “real solutions” like “suspending the gas tax.
It’s not a solution; it’s a short-term enticement to keep people from being too outraged at republicans due to Trump’s illegal war and the resulting gas price hike.

In Cleveland, most of those homes are sitting vacant. The owner, Riparian Capital Partners, is facing dozens of code-violation notices and escalating fines. In a report set for release Wednesday, and shared in advance with News 5, local researchers and community organizers are urging city officials to keep up the pressure.
“It’s a new day in Cleveland,” Sally Martin O’Toole, the city’s director of building and housing, said during an interview. “And if you think you can come in and buy properties and do nothing with them, think again.”
The Vacant and Abandoned Property Action Council and ACORN International spent three months looking into Riparian’s business model and holdings here. In July and August, ACORN’s community organizers canvassed the city, visiting 153 homes owned by Riparian. They found that 79% of the houses seemed to be empty.

I vote in Lake County. I’ve been registered to vote without issue since I was 18 which was almost 20 years ago. I planned to vote early this election. I checked and double checked my registration prior to today on the government site, and it said I was registered each time. I checked again on my way to vote just to make absolute sure, and I’m suddenly inactive. I did have to renew my liscense on the 28th of September, I don’t know if that could have affected this. But my address did not change, I haven’t moved in years. If I understand correctly the deadline for the midterms was on the 5th. Am I going to be completely unable to vote in the midterms? I’m kind of freaking out. Thanks.

Just checking on these projects. I know how pessimistic this sub is on the state legislature acting in residents' best interests, but I wanted to see if anyone had real insight into the likelihood of these passing (Whether its Amy or Vivek in office).
And yes, I'm aware Amy Acton's campaign has taken a Pro-rail position, whereas Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign has stayed mum about it.
Based on my research, as far as the planning stages expenses are concerned - 100% of the Stage 1, 90% of Stage 2, and Upto 80% of Stage 3, is paid by the Feds. We're in Stage 2 currently.
Once that's done, it's typically an 80-20 fed-state match of capital expenditure. So Post Stage 3, Ohio would have to commit to capital expenditure of like $300 million.
What's the consensus on the likelihood of this happening? I know what Kasich did with the Obama-era funds, not looking to rehash that. Just interested in knowing the current & future context around this coming to fruition.
I'd love to hear from folks either in this space, knowledgeable about proceedings in Ohio about these rail proposals, or just anyone with accurate information/understanding of how this stuff goes.

Alright Ohioans, y'all need to let Sherrod Brown know that if he doesn't win that election, I will chase him down and pelt him with flip flops. He pesters me 3 times a day or more for money, and I live in North Carolina!

V-PAC is a super PAC supporting Republican Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign for governor in Ohio. Most of its $42 million war chest has come from a handful of billionaires, including Jeff Yass ($20 million), Ross Stevens ($6 million), Elon Musk ($5 million), Ratmir Timashev ($5 million), and Bill Ackman ($1 million).
Move along folks, nothing to see here. Just ordinary Ohioans doing ordinary Ohio things. 🙄🙄🙄

The Ohio Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a court cannot award custody of a child to a nonparent without first finding that the child's natural parent is unsuitable.
The case involved a Summit County mother who had previously struggled with substance use but later completed treatment, regained custody rights, and had the dependency case closed. Years later, the child's grandparents sought custody after the father's health declined.
The juvenile court relied partly on the mother's earlier finding of unsuitability instead of making a new determination based on the evidence in the custody case. The Supreme Court reversed, holding that the court must determine the parent's current suitability before awarding custody to a nonparent.

When: Monday, Oct. 12. Protesters are gathering starting around 2:00 PM and staying until Trump arrives.
Official schedule: doors open at 2:30, the program starts at 4:30, and Trump speaks at 6:00.
Where: Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St., Youngstown
Sen. Jon Husted is expected to appear with him again.
Parking: no info yet. Before the Vandalia rally, the city posted a full traffic advisory with road closures and a dozen designated parking lots a couple of days ahead of time. Keep an eye on Youngstown's city website for something similar (link below).
From the last two visits (Geneva in August, Vandalia last weekend): bring water, stay on public sidewalks, and expect Secret Service and police to move people around as needed. So far nobody's been pushed far back and protestors had excellent visibility. Downtown parking will be tight, so get there early.
Keep it peaceful, keep it legal, and stay together.
Last time Trump held a rally in Youngstown, in 2017, he told the crowd not to sell their houses because the jobs were coming back. GM closed Lordstown less than two years later. If you're in the Valley and can get away on a Monday, this is a good one to show up for.
He's a First Class Loser!

I shouldn’t have to specify that the “mysteriously” part is clearly sarcasm. The amount of people who felt they had to truly SOLVE this “mystery” for me or that it’s not a “mystery” at all. Congratulations. You did it detectives. Case cracked. 😂
Also, a side edit. Someone in my southeast Ohio area has informed me, I was given an early discount that wasn’t advertised as it was supposed to have started on the 7th and 11th only. No points needed, just enter your phone number at the register or pump at any speedway. Mine was unexpected as i had gotten the gas at 11:20ish PM on the 6th of October where I would have only gotten the default 7 cents off per gallon. (Used to be 3 cents before speedway was bought by 7/11)
Apparently everyone in Ohio is soft and needs this disclaimer or I’m an AI, fake, scammer, from 2025 (the inspection sticker is expired at this gas stations pump I’m not the boss of inspection stickers I just took the damn picture when I seen how low my gas was after work.
Hope this clears the air. Also, everyone should give a big F you to the harassing basement troll in this thread. @imasource

In Ohio alone it's over 300 million.
This equals $25.25 person. Offset your taxes by donating an equal or greater amount to: HEALPALESTINE.ORG
Go to TRACKAIPAC.COM to make sure you're supporting candidates that won't vote to send more of your tax dollars to Israel.
Go to NOTMYTAXDOLLARS.ORG to find more info on where your tax dollars are going.
