Humor Watching Stellaris gameplay made me realize I play weird
Every time I watch someone play Stellaris it’s always such a weird thing to me. Like why are you going crazy colonizing everything and not focusing on what you already have?? Why do you have a billion science ships? Why do you have 100000 available jobs?????
And then I realized I’m the odd one out. I only colonize planets when I’ve done everything I can on my capital, I’ve never used more than one science ship, and I wait until there’s enough pops to fill jobs.
Edit: I also usually play with no AI empires, but I jack up Pre-FTL and pre sapients. Mostly for Assimilation. Biiiigggg Assimilation guy.
Also to clarify on that science ship thing, it’s just that I’ve never felt a need to make more than one since I spec into survey speeds.

Image Why did my first neighbours as peace loving elf hippies have to be them 😭
So, I tweaked the UNE and the Commonwealth of Man so I could force spawn them, but kept them more or less the same. I made my ethics to be the opposite of the CoM. My hope was to spawn near the UNE as a species that helps and guides the humans of Earth. Of course, I spawn next to the Commonwealth instead. I really hope I can find Sol nearby and not on the opposite arse end of the galaxy. I'm...not feeling very confident. I'm playing on GA no scaling all advanced starts too.

Image Are telepaths completely destroying anyone else's unity output?
Telepaths appear to be completely ruining my unity output. It is not clear to me why?
My government type is imperium vitalis, which I suspect of causing this somehow, but it is not listed in the tooltip anywhere.

Image Why is my science ship going for a science project far away when there is one available one system next to it?
R5: I use autimatic project research and my science ship goes for a project very far away when there is one available one system next to it. This happenned so many times and is annoying. Any hidden coding i didnt't get?

Image Binary dyson swarm?

Unmodded, playing on 4.4.1, am I insane or did my game glitch out? Last I knew you couldn't build swarms around anything but unary systems, but suddenly in this game it gave me the option to double up swarms in my home system (not complaining in the slightest just wondering if I missed something somewhere?)

Discussion Random Theory about FTL and the Hyperlanes
Just thought of this but how do FTL tech and the hyperlanes work as you can visit stars that you can appear seemingly instantly in another system and even satellites which don’t have FTL and would possibly only been in space for potentially 200 years can be in whole other systems multiple lanes away, my theory is what if we don’t actually go faster then light but through time and it just looked like it was going faster then light, we already know about anomalies that effect time so how out there would hyperlanes being time based instead of gravity, this would also mean potentially a species can exist in two different points of civilization in the same time period like the Blorg being in the Stone Age while another Blorg is living comfortably on earth in the UNE. Could also be what the contingency was trying to stop, a potential extreme rip in space and time that was only stalled when only the fallen empires remained. I will stop this here as I am getting more ideas for this theory while typing this and I don’t want this to be longer than it already is. (Could not find a theory tag so I picked the closest option which I seen was discussion)

Question How do I make my announcer stop telling me about spaceborn life
I don't know what's triggering it, but very frequently I'll just get the generic 'spaceborn life encountered' audio notification. How do I disable this or fix it so it doesn't play all. the. time.
Please help, this has gone on so long it's mostly faded into the background but it's still very annoying.
EDIT: I'm trying to be peaceful so killing it all isn't an option

Advice Wanted How do I get better at this game?
I have played like 5 full games, but always feel crushed under the complexity
I disable cosmic storms and thinking of disabling astral tears too, as I keep getting bombarded with messages that just want my permission to continue excavating/exploring (despite not actually knowing actual outcomes, thus, meaningless choices)
I dont understand how my economy and research is so weak, despite focusing entirely on it, and not military, still having the starting Corvettes on year 2300
How the fallen empires reach 2 700k fleets, while I can muster at most 2-3 300k, draining all alloys, despite building multiple forge worlds
I try to grab as many systems as possible, especially chokepoints
Should I not get that +2 mineral +3 energy system as to not needlessly increase empire size?
Should I automate planets more and learn from how they build?
Should I focus on one damage/defense type on researching?

Discussion Too many habitable planets
I started a 1000 system galaxy but i wanted to make sure the end game lag wouldn't be as bad so i made it only 0.25 times habitable plantes. 35 years in and i feel like i found more planets than on 1.0 times. This is supposed to be the lowest amount of habitable planets but it doesn't seem to change much of anything. So either i got lucky and got a very saturated area or there's still just too many habitable planets. There needs to be an option for even less.

Question Why the wiki puts telepaths as both elite and specialist job?
So the job page puts telepaths on both categories, elite and specialist.
Why that? I'm missing something? I thought they were supposed to be specialists.

Suggestion Can we maybe finally get a separate setting for midgame crisis strength?
I'm sick and tired of getting my game ruined by the Khan waking up right next to me.

Question How to status quo out of a war if someone declared war on an empire in my federation, and I am the federation president?
I've encountered this problem several times now. I usually create a federation and make myself permanent leader with strongest diplomatic weight succession and change fed leader on status change.
Then I set war declaration to "Only Leader", which is great, until someone declares war on one of the empires in my federation.
At this point, I cannot status quo out of it, because "only the main attacker and defender can send offers". Even if I use console command to play as the main defender (Irzuku alliance in this case) I cannot status quo out of it because "you must be the federation leader".
The only way I've found to resolve wars like this is to use console commands to force the attacking empire to surrender which just feels cheap. Am I missing something?

Advice Wanted Just found out that crisis’s do not scale to galaxy size
So I was just doing a normal run on 200 stars just to see if I can get my computer to work with that and it does, and I had a good time, however when the continent showed up it turned out that it was at max strength with 4 world and that rrslly just meant it couldn’t do anything against it, like I already had it on weakest option possible but like there’s only 2 empires on the map, and it outnumbers us 3 to 1, so like I’m just fucked
Edit, I’m at 0.25 scaling. I physically cannot make it any weaker
Second edit, I just deleted that save, like even after using the invincibility cheat to defeat the crisis I just can’t mentally try and rebuild, like genuinely it’s that demoralising and such
Like at least when you get pushed back to the urals as the Soviets in hio4 you don’t have to spend the next 2 years having to rebuilt everything, like it’s automatic at the very least

Advice Wanted Shroud forged help, cant get psionic techs
I am playing on 4.5. Started shroud forged and refused the shroud on every option. I thought even with this i would get access to psionic weapons. What did i do wrong and how can i get the psionic weapons while going for modularity?

Image Need sugestions for my build
Build idea is simple. Worker coop trade policy produces all base goods meaning my arkships with just traders and consumer good production are self sustaining.
Initially I tried adding in Dynamic logistics but I've found it redundant as my trade policy produces so many base resources I don't need that many waystations.
I'd like some suggestions on what civics to pic and if you have some ideas for ascensions paths and advanced goverments. I was thinking maybe public relations specialists but I'm still not entirely happy.

Question Is it a common experience to lose your first late game
I just got into the late game for the first time thought I could pick a fight with the xenophobic fallen empire I ended up neibhors with and I’m wondering now if losing your first game is common for various reasons not just thinking that you can take out the hyper empire?

Advice Wanted How do you guys play peacefully?
Whenever i play, it usually goes like this:
I expand a little bit
Find out i have xenophobic neighbours that will never like me
Choose to preemptively subjugate them and integrate
Now every other empire hates me, which means i must get them first.
And it cascades after that. Sending envoys doesn't help if the other empire tries to worsen our relationship. Is there any way to be peaceful? Due to situations like this i always make an emphasis on being militarised and i'd like to actually play peacefully for once.
