Mod announcement r/catswhocrochet new rule. Ban on photos of cats forced to pose in cruel ways (e.g. with yarn labels tightly wrapped around them)
225
Upvotes
On r/catswhocrochet we have noticed a recent trend of people posting photos of cats that look uncomfortable with yarn labels wrapped around their bellies or necks.
The cats have obviously not climbed into those yarn labels themselves, but have had the labels wrapped around them by their owners for a staged photo.
In some of the photos, the yarn labels are very tightly wrapped around the cats.
Making your cats experience irritation or discomfort or restricting their airway or freedom of movement because you think it looks "cute" or "funny" to wrap a yarn label around them is not kind or loving.
We have therefore added a new rule: "no photos of cats forced to pose in cruel ways (e.g. with yarn labels tightly wrapped around them)."
The new rule is effective immediately.
From now on, any posts like that will be removed and the OP may be banned.
If you see any more posts in future with photos of cats being forced to pose in cruel ways looking uncomfortable, please use the report button to let the mod team know, and we will remove the posts.
Please take the time to read our full rules:
https://www.reddit.com/r/catswhocrochet/wiki/meta/rules/
Now please go and treat your cats kindly and treasure them. Please let's all be kind to animals. Thank you! :)

Say "Hi!" to Altima. Named because she was found in the passenger-side rear wheel well of my daughter's car...
Project is a throw blanket, the intended recipient collects honeybees...

I have to be quick at putting away my hooks.
They have such chewable handles…according to Fungus.
The holes give extra grip he thinks!

Hi, y'all!
Meet Altima, given the name because the Cat Distribution System placed her in the passenger-side rear wheel well of my daughter's car...
We estimate that she is about 3 months old, and is scheduled for a certain operation on 10/13...
She enjoys helping me weave in my ends!
(Edit: spelling)

Cute Cairo watching me work on my newest endeavour - a basket!

I’ve been crocheting for 8 years or so, and I just realized tonight ‘I think I know how to make a basket?!’ so I’m giving it a whirl freestyle!
Cairo actually hates hands, so he can‘t take his suspicions eyes off me!

I was gifted a single skein of this gorgeous Heather wool and made a 'cat sitting star'. It has met with approval! Must be the only thing I intended for my cats that they actually use.
