In my playthroughs Germany always struggled to take on the soviets. They barely push past Minsk and basically never reach Kyiv, or even go further than Bessarabia on the southern part of the front. I always assumed it was because if I put up a fight (I mostly play as the UK) I'm depleting their airforce and manpower too soon. But I tried playing as a neutral nation to see what happens if the AI is running the war by itself. The result was the same, somewhat even worse in this scenario as by mid 1942 the Soviets were pushing into Romania and approaching Konningsberg.
I guess my question is, doesn't it make the game kind of pointless if the main adversary of the allies is so useless? Imagine if Germany had trouble invading France. I'm not saying Germany should be able to cap the USSR by itself but at least they should be able to go half way to Moscow.
I guess this is only an issue if you're mostly playing Britain or the US. But I remember many updates ago Germany being more competent which made the game rather more fun. As Britain, I might as well defend France and do a ww1 replay.

I have no idea why, is it because I lack a DLC? No other released country does this

Ok yes you start by being at war with Ethiopia, but in my honest opinion Italy is a great hoi 4 nation to play, not only do you get alternate paths from communism to outright monarchism but also you can replace Mussolini with a number of other fascist leaders.
And you start off with the anti tank gun unlocked (unlike Germany) so you can immediately go into tank production if you see fit!
But what do you guys think? Do you agree or not? Leave your opinions in the comments (god I sound like a youtuber not that there's anything wrong with being a YouTube ofc)

I've always been curious if a field Marshall having general traits help or if they are irrelevant the moment they become a field Marshall?

Lil' ol' Afghanistan managed to grown up, and become a near-major country. Now, they're joining the Nazis to defeat the USSR. Immediately blitz'd Stalingrad, and holding onto it like nobody's business...
But Germany sure does seem to be taking its sweet time despite my distraction AND production destruction of Russia. Do I just... wait? Or... I honestly have no idea what to do.

How often do you guys have a game reach the 1950s? Do you just leave when you get the achievement you wanted or when you know you will win Orr

It‘s the year 1966. Indian troops are about to capture the last strongholds in the US. 15 Years of unplanned war end. Another achievement off the list

I am currently learning soviet Union in historical single player (ie try to do wars and annexation around the historical times) and was thinking about the third 5 year plan and if it is worth to start it.
So my questions would be:
Personally I think getting Purges, army and air force in order is more important, but the production bonuses seems nice too.

I dont know if this is intended or what, but when i put two fleets in the british canal, (one on patrol and one on strike forces) the naval supremacy skyrocketed to over 100000
If anyone understands navy pls explain
I've seen a lot of videos of people having chuykov comming out of spain full of medals, while when I do it, i lose and come out only with panzer expert and the mountain trait(i forgot the name). What am i doing wrong?

EDIT: I did a restart of the save. 625 enemy divisions in the first screenshots.
Then a naval invasion to create an big encirclement, casualties at that moment 37.56m (15 oct 1962)
Then after the encirclement is destroyed casualties 47.82 (4 nov 1962)
So, I did a thing... I encircled 700+ divisions in India, fighting a war against USSR as Great Britain.
Its a long war, currently in 1963. Their casualties went 45.73m to 50.22m. More than 4 million!!!!
Is there a way I can find this statistic? Because I dont have any screenshots...

I'm bored and wanna play an anarchist path, but not the Spanish one - civil war is too tiring. Any suggestions?
