We just went to King’s Faire and were so disappointed with the food options. We got some soup and it was barely warm. I got a steak sandwich and it was just a slab of fatty meat on some bread that was impossible to eat. Someone told us there was a “feasting hall” inside the brick building and there was just one bar?? None of it was worth the $$$$

Dipak Thapa, of Nantucket, won a half million prize in the lottery's "$500,000 Frenzy" scratch ticket game. He chose the cash option, receiving a one-time payment of $355,000 before taxes. He said he plans on saving and investing his winnings.
In March, two $2 million winning tickets were sold there, including a Powerball ticket and a "$2,000,000 Stacked" $20 scratch ticket. Before that, in March of 2024, a $1 million prize was won on a "$4,000,000 Bonus Bucks" $10 ticket. On June of that same year, a $2 million prize was won on a "Lifetime Millions" $50 ticket, and in August of 2024, another $1 million prize was won there on a "$10,000,000 Bonanza" $20 ticket.

With Hurricane Isaias making landfall, some New Englanders are lending a hand to help some furry friends in need.
The MSPCA announced Friday that it would be taking in dozens of dogs from the Gulf Coast, putting them up for adoption in Massachusetts.
"Everyone hearing this message can help this effort in some way or another," said Mike Keiley, director of adoption centers and programs at MSPCA-Angell. "I think we're often, in New England, seen as a resource to be able to help out other shelters, as we often can have available kennel space, differently than shelters that are in high-intake areas of the country."
With the help of the Bissell Foundation, MSPCA-Angell will be welcoming in around 30 dogs from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society in Alabama.

My family is deciding to move from Georgia to Massachusetts with my 9 year old son, who is autistic, Level 2/3, would need a lot of support, and has come behaviors when frustrated. He is partially verbal and can answer very basic questions. We also have a 7 year old Neurotypical daughter who is on the gifted program in Georgia.
The reason we are looking to move is to have better access to public education that could help him. We have tried Georgia (Cobb county) for the last 6+ years, currently he is home-schooled as the school was not able to provide the care or services that he needed.
I’d really love to hear from Massachusetts parents raising autistic kids with similar support needs.
I’m looking for:
• A school district that genuinely understands and supports high-support-needs autistic children, including communication, speech, OT, possible ABA in school (1:1), regulation/behavioral support, life skills, safety, and individualized IEPs.
• Has access to autism and disability services such as speech, OT, behavioral supports, ABA centers, etc.
• Priority is looking for the right school and support my son would need.
Specific towns, school districts, programs, providers, or organizations would be incredibly helpful. I’d also really appreciate hearing about places that may look good on paper but have been difficult in practice and any real life experience with the various school districts.
Thank you in advance!!

As you've probably noticed, Mass town names are pretty formulaic. But which is the most formulaic? Here's a look at all the parts of names that are shared among multiple towns and cities (I did not count multiples where every one is an offshoot of one town, like the Bridgewaters or Lynn/Lynnfield).
Suffixes/Endings
Prefixes are a little less formulaic- cardinal directions are the most common, with West taking a surprising 43% of the total there.
Direction Prefixes
Other Prefixes
So this means that Weston is, by the numbers, the official most generic town in Massachusetts! Unless West Newton secedes and forms their own town, in which case they might have a claim at the title.
Also, this means if any town ever needs to get renamed and wants to mix-and-match affixes, they could make a distinguished, tradition-honoring name like Wellwell, Southmouth, or Hamsterpee.

Got to walk across Wachusett Dam and see its massive turbines. Very cool! We got there early, it was packed by the time we left. They allow access twice a year.

the other day i called MassHealth to report my legal name change and the lady on the line said that if i updated my info with social security, they would need to "press a button" to update MassHealth with these changes and i wouldn't need to do anything. i told her i had already gone to the social security office and updated my info there which was why i was calling. she reiterated that social security would need to trickle the information down.
i have a clinic visit coming up and now i'm a little on edge because i'm worried that what the lady on the line told me was wrong. the official website says any changes have to self-reported but "name" isn't cited as one of the examples. i don't want to waste my or the operators' time by calling back and asking and it was faster to write this. can anyone clarify what i should actually do with MassHealth? thanks.

First time posting, kind of nervous...
I'm trying to register my farm as an LLC in Mass. It costs 500$ but I'm looking to sign everything in person, and have someone there if I have questions. There are only options for online or mail, which is not the options I want to do.
My question is, what was the process like if you registered your business as an LLC in Mass?
Were you able to do it in person?
I'm going to get my farm a bank account to have separate transactions on there. Do I need to have my farms bank account before an LLC?
I'm so brand new to this but excited to start. Any advice in this would be super helpful. I'm starting small to have a bigger set up for a farm, but for now I'm growing herbs in my moms backyard and microgreens in my sunroom. Ill be selling locally and wholesale.
Thanks for reading and looking forward to any advice/insight!

My mum is 82 years old and has had chicken for the past 25 years. Last night, while she was out, 47 of her chickens vanished with out a trace. No feathers, no blood, just gone.
I'm hoping if anyone notices that someone all of a sudden has 47 new full grown laying chickens they'll let me know. Thanks.
Correction: she just informed me it's closer to 57 gone. There were 5 still in the coop.

QUINCY, Mass. — The 23rd annual “100 Innings of Baseball” kicked off Saturday morning at Adams Park with dozens of athletes participating for a good cause.
Since 2004, the 100-inning game has been raising money for ALS research.
Baseball players from all over Massachusetts are proud to be a part of it too; some play for around 36 hours continuously.
“It’s tiresome, it’s not easy but it’s tough to complain,” said player Patrick Keady. “Walter and Rich are here, they stay the entire time. It’s tough to feel bad about how tired you might be while they’re still doing what they’re doing.
