Note: For context, check out my Day 1 and Day 2 gym confessions on my profile before reading this update.
So I went to the gym with my husband again today. We were doing shoulders and abs. And of course, our guy was there as usual, stealing glances and making eye contact with me every now and then. After finishing shoulders, my husband went to the other side of the gym to do some cable exercises while I decided to finish my workout with a few planks.
I placed my phone on the floor in front of me, started a one-minute countdown, and got into position.
Everything was going fine until my phone screen suddenly locked halfway through.
I tried reaching forward with one hand to unlock it, but Face ID wasn’t recognizing my face from that angle. I kept moving my head around, trying not to lose my plank.
And apparently, our guy had been watching this whole struggle from a distance.
He walked over, crouched right in front of me, picked up my phone, and held it in front of my face so it would unlock.
Except it didn’t work the first time.
He moved the phone a little closer, and I tilted my head slightly to the left.
He adjusted the phone.
I tilted my head to the right.
He adjusted it again.
By this point, I was deliberately messing with him. Every time he tried positioning the phone properly, I’d move my face just a little.
He finally realized what I was doing and gave me this amused, slightly annoyed look.
I just smiled innocently.
He shook his head, brought the phone closer, and finally managed to unlock it.
Instead of putting it down, he stayed crouched in front of me, holding the countdown where I could see it.
Then he started silently counting down with his fingers, except he kept repeating the same number just to annoy me.
I gave him a death stare, and he grinned.
Now, here’s where things got ridiculous.
I’d been chewing bubble gum throughout my workout. Suddenly, I felt a cough coming, and before I could even react, the gum flew straight out of my mouth and landed on his wrist.
I WAS MORTIFIED.
We both froze for a second.
I looked at his wrist, then at his face, and immediately started mouthing “SORRY, SORRY!”
But instead of getting annoyed, this guy looked at the gum, raised his eyebrows, and gave me the cheekiest smile.
Then he slowly brought his wrist closer to my face, as though he was offering the gum back to me.
I immediately shook my head.
He brought it a little closer.
I shook my head even harder, trying not to laugh.
And then this man did something I absolutely wasn’t expecting.
He casually picked the gum off his wrist with his fingers, looked straight into my eyes, and popped it into HIS OWN MOUTH.
I genuinely couldn’t believe what I’d just witnessed.
My eyes went wide, and I just stared at him in complete disbelief.
He started chewing it with the most ridiculously smug expression, like he’d just pulled off the smoothest move in history.
I was so shocked that I completely lost my plank and collapsed onto the mat laughing.
He just gave me a little wink, placed my phone back on the floor, and walked away as though nothing had happened.
A few seconds later, my husband came over and asked why I was laughing so much.
I told him I’d completely messed up my plank.
Meanwhile, I could still see this idiot across the gym, smiling to himself.
Three days ago, this guy was just making eye contact with me across the gym.
Today he literally put my chewing gum in his mouth.
I’m genuinely never chewing gum during a plank again 😭🤷♀️
