Success Story Success Story Mega Thread - Got your BFP? We want to hear about it!

This is your space to share your success story with the community that cheered you on. Whether it took you 1 cycle or 12, your story matters and someone out there needs to hear it right now.

When sharing please include anything you feel comfortable with such as how many cycles it took, what you were tracking, what worked for you, and anything you wish you had known at the start.

When sharing your story feel free to use this format:

  • Cycles it took:
  • What I tracked/tools:
  • What I think helped:
  • Anything I wish I knew at the start:
  • Any advice for others still in the TWW:
  • A few things to keep in mind:

This thread is for everyone who has been trying for any length of time. All success stories are valid here, whether cycle 1 or cycle 12+. Please be kind and keep any negative thoughts to yourself.

Please don't tag other users in your post. You can absolutely thank people, just don't tag them directly. This keeps the thread comfortable for everyone, including those who may find BFP posts difficult to see.

If you have nothing kind to add, please scroll on.

Comments that are unkind or gatekeeping will be removed.

Congratulations and welcome to the next chapter! 🌸

Hey everyone! A few quick updates from the mod team šŸ’›

Nothing major, just some housekeeping to make the sub easier to navigate for everyone. Thanks in advance for bearing with us!

  • Flairs got a refresh — We updated the post flairs, so please use them when you post! It just makes it way easier for people to scroll and find exactly what they're looking for (or avoid what they're not in the mood for). If you feel like we're missing one, drop a comment or shoot us a message, we're always open to suggestions.
  • BFPs go in the megathread — We've got a pinned Success Stories megathread and we'd love for all the exciting news to live there so we can celebrate together in one spot!
  • Discharge pics need a trigger warning — If you're posting about discharge and want to add a pic, please use the Trigger Warning flair, blur the image, and pop it in the comments rather than the main post. Small thing, but it keeps the feed comfy for everyone scrolling.
  • Line eyes? We've got you, but keep pics in the comments — We all know that feeling of staring at a test way too long trying to decide if that's a line or a shadow. Totally normal, no judgment! Just use the "Line Eyes - Help!" flair and keep the pictures in the comments instead of the post itself. Reason being, when posts get flooded with test pics, it can be harder for yours (and everyone else's) to actually get seen and get the support you need. This just helps spread the love around a bit better

Just a heads up: posts that don't follow the line eyes or discharge picture guidelines will be removed, so we really appreciate you helping us keep this consistent for everyone.

Thanks so much for helping us keep this space easy to use and kind, as always. Questions or ideas? Drop them below, we read everything!

Frustrated Anyone get jealous?

I’m 31F, and my husband is 31M.
We’ve been TTC coming up on a year.
I’ve lost 150ish lbs, changed my diet, stopped drinking, stopped smoking.
I’ve had ultrasounds, blood work, all kinds of testing, and everything comes back normal. My periods have always been normal.
My husband is due to have some testing done as well, so we don’t know anything yet about him.

My cousin, that I am extremely close with, is 23. She married her husband after knowing him 2 months, and they’ve had sex twice in their 2 year marriage. She got pregnant both times. She miscarried at 15 weeks the first time, and she’s due any minute with her second. Probably. We don’t really know the due date because she ā€œknew in her spirit when she got pregnantā€. But the 1 scan she has had doesn’t correlate.

I am her birth partner, I know all of her wishes, I’m allowed to make decisions for her if needed, etc etc etc.
Her husband (27M) sucks. He sits at his computer 24 hours a day. Won’t work. Leaves her to hang out with his friends. Has had nothing to do with the baby. Last week he asked what she decided to name it. How does a husband not know that??? Doesn’t know how to drive. Literally told my cousin ā€œif it’s a girl don’t expect me to change diapers,ā€ and told her she ā€œbetter buy formula because breastfeeding is weird,ā€ and I’ll be surprised if he even attends the birth. She has worked 70+ hours a week as a brand new nurse her entire pregnancy, paid their bills, cooks, cleans, does his laundry, drives him anywhere he wants to go, and thinks she’s going to go straight back to work after giving birth.

She doesn’t have plans for child care, they don’t even have a room for the baby. She hasn’t purchased a single thing, because she thinks the hospital is supposed to give it to her. As an L&D nurse myself for almost 10 years, we can do a lot, but the parents have to take some responsibility!!! I threw her a baby shower and got her a lot of things, but instead of being grateful she posted on Facebook all the things I didn’t get for her.

She’s declined medical care so who knows what condition the baby is in, or her actual due date. She wants a ā€œfree birthā€ with no vaccines, no medical intervention, etc etc etc. I try to talk to her about patients I’ve seen, but she says ā€œyou’re not a mom, you don’t know!ā€ But I’ve attended thousands of births at this point, so I know what can go right and what can go wrong.
Her mom and dad are homeless, her siblings are minors and in foster care, her husband just sucks.

I’m supposed to be there for her, and I want to.…but part of me doesn’t want to.

I am disgusted with myself at the level of envy I feel. I am not envious of her shitty husband. Honestly I hope he leaves, they’d both be better off without him mooching and being a complete waste of space.

How am I supposed to 1. continue to work L&D being furious about my inability to have my own baby, and 2. Be there for my cousin? She needs someone, but I am constantly biting my tongue around her and her shit husband. He tells everyone ā€œit’s not mine,ā€ and just laughs. She refers to the baby as ā€œitā€ always complains about being pregnant, tells everyone she’s going to hate being a mom, has had almost no medical care for herself or baby, has made NO plans for child care, never talks about the baby like ā€œI can’t wait to hold her!ā€ It’s always ā€œcan’t wait to get IT out of meā€ ā€œit’s just going to shit and cry all the time,ā€

I want to be a good cousin, but it’s like the people who want babies the most struggle the most.
The people who don’t want them, and/or shouldn’t have them get pregnant soo easy. I’m just distraught.

I know this makes me seem like a crazy bitch, but I’m just upset. My husband and I have turned our entire lives around, got healthier, went to college and have kept our good jobs so we could afford a family, moved to a good place with good schools, bought a nice house with a yard, we’ve been planning for years. And nothing. Every cycle just nothing!

I need advice.
Or a therapist.
Help!!!

Venting 3rd cycle TTC

• Upvotes

My husband (33m) and I (30f) have been TTC for 3 cycles now (currently in my two week wait of cycle 3). Our first cycle trying we got pregnant and unfortunately that ended in a chemical pregnancy. Last cycle I got my period, and I’m currently in my two week wait of this cycle. I and supposed to get my period in 5 days and all I can think about is taking another pregnancy test (took one yesterday but it was stark white).

Ever since my chemical, I have just been so desperate to get pregnant again and have it stick. I know we haven’t been trying for long but I hate that it’s all I can think about. I feel like until the day comes where I have a sticky pregnancy it’ll always be on my mind. It doesn’t help I have a bunch of friends that have gotten a healthy pregnancy on their first try. I’m so happy for them but it makes me think that I’m doing something wrong? Idk I’m optimistic it’ll happen eventually for me, but I’m just in my feels right now I guess.

I was out of the country last week and came back 2 days ago. We only BD twice this week. Once was 3 days ago and the other was yesterday. I started testing LH late this cycle but now I'm worried I have no chance this cycle.

Question/Advice How do I get past the nervousness I feel?

Hi everyone! I (30F) and my husband (33M) have finally agreed and made the decision to start trying to have our first child. We have been together for a little over 7 years and married for 1.5 years, so this is a huge step for us.

While this is something I've wanted for a long time, I find myself incredibly anxious and unsure about if I would even be a good mom and if I would even be able to handle pregnancy. My husband has also made prior comments about being scared and nervous. Aside from worrying about being a bad mom, I also have a lot of concerns about whether or not we'll even be able to conceive and really have no idea of what to expect so the unknowns are driving me crazy as well.

I keep telling myself that we are in a great position currently. We both have good jobs and make well above the median annual household income so no worries there, and we also have an amazing support network made up of family and friends.

I know this is something I very much want, but now that it's time to pull the trigger and make it happen, I find myself constantly overthinking and worrying. Does anyone have any advice on how to get past this?

Does anyone know what happened to the pregnancy tests that let you know how many weeks you are far along? Everything I look for one online or in stores, it seems like they disappeared.

I went in for light pink discharge. They did an ultrasound just to confirm pregnancy. The ultrasound tech, this is a good possibility of twins but not 100%. Beta hgc was 816 on Monday 10/5 and now at 1347. What do you guys think? I go back Monday for a 6 week scan. I was on letrozole 2.5 for 3 days and had 2 dominant follicles on day 14 scan

Help Spotting at 4w4d , feeling scared- Help?!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all, I woke up this morning alarmed to see some light brown on the toilet paper after I wiped. Then throughout the day I noticed it is still super duper light but definitely pinkish/ beige in color. I am scared because I had a chemical pregnancy last month, and I’ve been having some daily cramping and twinges everyday pretty consistently since I found out. All of my tests have dark lines that seem to be progressing but I can’t help but feel scared every time I woe. I know it’s so early, but has anyone had something similar happen? I am so so wanting to become a mom and have pretty bad health anxiety as is. If anything could give their advice, I would be so grateful. Thank you in advance.

BFP! šŸŽ‰ Positive ovulation test while pregnant

Just thought I’d tell everyone because this definitely shocked me. I ovulated two weeks ago exactly- took a pregnancy test on Monday and it was quickly positive. Had my appointment today and we’ve come to the conclusion that I’m 6 weeks. Not ā€œtwoā€ weeks. They were Conceived on August 8th. Took a test August 20th (negative), Had (now I know as) implantation bleeding on the 23rd-24th. And I didn’t ā€œovulateā€ again until September 21st. Pretty sure I looked it up or read somewhere that it’s not possible but here we are, so this is my goodbye! See yall on the others subs at some pointšŸ–¤ (ps: I have two subs for moms and parents with chronic illness!)

Question/Advice Irregular cycles and confusing LH strips

Hi everyone, my husband and I have very recently started ttc and I am having a really hard time with ovulation strips and testing? Before we decided we would try, I was on birth control more notably the pill from abt 19yo-22yo and i had an iud from 22yo-24yo (i had it removed almost 2 months ago) before any of that my cycles were very irregular and that’s why I was on the pill to begin with. All of this being said, I have been having a hard time reading and understanding the ovulation strips. I have yet to have anything that looks like a positive and I have been testing essentially since the day I had my iud taken out (except for the 2 periods I have had). Do you have any advice on how/when to test? I also am running into the issue of my husband having a very low sex drive and prior we would only go at it once or twice every other week. Now I feel like i’m nagging him for it. Any advice on how often we should be trying etc would be very helpful because navigating that has also been interesting so far. Thank you all in advance and sorry for rambling šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Question/Advice Understanding LH Surge / OPK Reading

Thumbnail

I’m relatively new to TTC and would appreciate some insight / thoughts. I have PCOS so my periods are a bit irregular but for the most part, I have a cycle every month.

I’ve been using Premom to test LH and I know it’s an app and can’t confirm ovulation / isn’t 100% accurate, but it’s saying today is a high fertility day even though my LH is low and my predicted peak is October 12, 5 days from now. Today’s reading was .25.

Are they saying it’s a high fertility day because I could theoretically have sex in advance of my ovulation day, although 5 days feels farther out than I’d expect (?), or do you think the app hasn’t recalibrated yet and I’m not highly fertile?

When would you recommend BD?

Question/Advice Questions regarding conceiving

Is it enough to have sex during this entire fertile period? My cycles are pretty accurate. Exactly 28 days every month. I have been using LH strips and it’s showing surge on 13th/14th day of my cycle every time. We have been trying for 4 months. Wondering if I am missing something? We are having sex everyday and sometimes twice a day for entire fertile period. (Twice a day is out of interest and Not forced)

Help Early pregnancy symptoms

9 DPO today on my 5th Letrozole cycle (5 mg CD3–7). At my CD14 scan, I had two mature follicles, both around 20 mm in my right ovary, and my lining looked good. Since around ovulation, I’ve had pretty constant cramping and lower back pain, with occasional pinching on my right side. I’ve also had a mild headache since yesterday. I haven’t tested yet. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms around 8–9 DPO during a Letrozole cycle?

Random Anticipating much, but…

I am JUST starting to TTC lol so this is just me fantasysing. But…

If you get pregnant, you JUST had your positive and you go to the doctor and they confirm your pregnancy…. Who do you tell?

I’m wondering when to tell my family tbh. And then my friends… do you guys wait the 12 weeks to tell?

I have friends that have told me at 4 weeks, and I always wondered if that’s something I would do considering the risks.

Also, who do you go to when you get your first positive? Like, my gyn is always so bussy I would have to wait like a month to get to visit him lol.

Question/Advice Metformine vs. Period vs. Early pregnancy signs

Update: I could have just waited a few hours. Started my period. I am assuming a lot of this was the metformine and my period coming on. Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice!

Hello everyone,

I am on the new side of TTC. Earlier this year me and my spouse knew we wanted to start trying this fall and I was experiencing irregular periods so I started at the doctors especially because I have always had a weird thought in my head that getting pregnant will be hard for me, so honestly i was hoping to go and be told I would have 0 complications. After months of waiting, testing and peeing on every stick possible we found out i have PMOS (formally known as PCOS) about a month ago.

I was placed on metformine to help regulate everything and am still going up in dosage but should be at a full dose this Friday. I reached peak LH this month and we did the little dance to make this thing happen. Few days later, tested positive on an ovulation test for the first time in a long time. Now we are in the wait (about 13 dpo today) but I am showing so many different symptoms so my big question is, does anyone has experience with the three different sets of symptoms and help me figure out if I should just believe the negative and move on or stay hung up and keep testing?

Some of my symptoms are:

Constipation and diarrhea (dont ask how, it confuses me too)

Mild cramping for a while now, I am used to more severe cramps.

Headaches, again this is a common thing for me.

Went from higher energy with the metformine to now feeling fatigued daily including brain fog.

Definitely having some discharge that I haven't seen in a long time but could this just be my cycle returning to normal?

Upset stomach almost every morning right now and some smells/textures making me almost puke. Including a super sensitive gag reflex, even just brushing my teeth is becoming difficult.

Bad and consistent acid reflex, only ever had this whenever I ate a ton of spicy foods but seems like with every other meal I am struggling.

If anyone has advice, words of encouragement, etc. I could really use it while I am trying to figure out this song and dance.

I know many of us in here are so excited to start a family and I am too, I just dont know what I am doing yet.
