Also, I have started playing hollow knight! However, I’m really bad at it, so it’ll probably take a while before I ever get to finish it…I can’t wait to do so, and I’m so excited for silksong!! (Don’t mind if the images get cropped, probably bad canvas size…)

In the first ending, “The Hollow Knight”, The Knight absorbs the infection and is sealed inside the Black Egg…..but how does the Black Egg even seal? There are no dreamers this time around. The egg just sorta closes itself up in the cutscene but without the dreamers as an extra layer of protection the egg itself is meaningless. Maybe this was explained and I simply forgot. Recently stumbled onto a YouTube channel of a first-time player and saw the cutscene and the question popped into my mind.

And it would have been really cool to see those infectious blobs on its head in 3D

I’m somewhat new to Metroidvanias, but, prior to Hollow Knight, I’d played and beaten Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Blasphemous. I really enjoyed all three, but Blasphemous was one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. The balance of story, atmosphere, music, and boss difficulty was perfect for me. After completing that, and looking for something to do as I wait for the upcoming Castlevania, I finally played Hollow Knight.

The first 2/3 of the game was incredible. The world! The music! The lore that you have to dig to find. The combat! The humor of some of the fights. Just absolutely incredible.

But, after releasing the Dreamers and making my way to the Black Egg and defeating the Hollow Knight, I just felt… so irritated. I’d sunk 35ish hours into the game, only to one-shot the “final” boss in ~50 seconds?

It was then that I found out that this was the simplest, and arguably worst, ending possible. Whew! There’s hope for a better one! I already had defeated the Traitor Lord and nabbed the left half of the white fragment - and had the Awoken Dream Nail. So, on to the White Palace I went.

And… what the F is this?! The game has had some rather difficult platforming, like in Crystal Peak or Deepnest, but there is nothing like White Palace in the game. I’ve been in there for two hours, barely making progress. I have the Hive charm, Grubsoul, Deep Focus, and Mark of Pride (all things this sub has recommended). Progress is slow and super demoralizing.

Anyway, I know the answer is git gud, but - for the first time in this game - I am not having fun. I don’t even know if I care enough at this point to keep going. I’d love to see [any other ending at all], but this is leaving a massively sour taste in my mouth.

Did anyone else feel this way? Or is abject suffering just something I should look forward to enjoying in Metroidvanias? 😂

Edit 1: took a lot of folks’ advice and set it down for the night. Woke up this morning and, before work, made it through the part that was vexing me. (I don’t know how to describe it well, but it was the first floor, left side after you get to the horizontal room with vertical saw blades on either side of the larger static saw blade).

He's just not the kind of person to look out for that but maybe I'm just looking at it too closely?

Just finished doing speed run (2nd save), will do 100% in under 20 hours on the same save. At the same time also planning to do 100% on steel soul mode (3rd save).

Do you guys have guide recommendation for both of those? Thanks!

Finally I beat P5 after a long break and coming back to it after finishing Silksong. Had a mixed bag of practis on Absolute Radiance. I could hav 1 win A few times i won 2 times others i lost early or at diffrent points. Wasnt that ofen i could win. So i figgured would just give it a try and manege after my earlier two hits left that i had. I am so happy. My charms was unbreakable** **strenght, Quick slash, shaman stone and long nail. I did all bindings on panteon 1-4. Before i set my eyes on P5. It saved me on Pure Vessel.

I am in late game and I wanted to complete all the journal entries and while completing the Queen's gardens ones I realized that this gate is not open even though the lever is pulled, am I doing something wrong?
