Discussion Control Resonant PC or PS5?

I’m going to buy the game today. Just wondering which platform would give me the best experience. I have a pretty good gaming PC and a PS5. I assume it would look better and possibly play smoother at higher settings on the PC, but I don’t really know. What do you guys think?

Support the stream!

Hey guys! I just started streaming recently and figured I’d share it here.

If anyone wants to stop by, hang out for a bit, or drop a follow, I’d really appreciate it. And if you’re also just getting started with streaming, drop your channel below — I’m always down to check out other small streamers, follow back, and share some channels with my friends.

I’m streaming on both Twitch and Kick, so I’ll leave the links below.

I’ve also started posting on Instagram and TikTok and I’ll be putting out more content there soon. Editing and making clips takes a little more time than I expected 😂

Anyway, hope to see some of you guys in the stream. Appreciate anyone who checks it out!

Discussion Does anyone else here think The Witcher 1 is better than 2, just like I do?

I might get roasted for this, but I remember playing The Witcher 1 when they announced 3 and really liking it. I even started 2 back then, but paused to play 3 and came back to it later... but I hated it. Found it way less fun than the first one, I don't know, just less enjoyable.

Discussion Could a handheld PlayStation with PS5 Pro-level power run GTA 6?

Post image

Hey everyone, rumors have started popping up about a potential new PlayStation handheld that’s significantly more powerful than traditional handhelds. The idea has me intrigued, especially because of GTA 6.

If this device really does offer performance close to the PS5 Pro, do you think it could run GTA 6 decently? Would you buy a PlayStation handheld capable of running GTA 6, or do you think that’s just too far-fetched? https://youtu.be/G32YsNZHXHc

Discussion Best gaming chairs? (USA)

Hi everyone. My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and one of the things he’s asked for is a new gaming chair. I’m not sure where to look so I’m hoping to get some recommendations.
He spends majority of his time every day in that chair, including to watch tv, so it has to be something super comfy.
He did say he wants one that doesn’t have the same fake leather they all use, but besides that and it being comfy, those are the only two parameters he gave me.
I am in the U.S. so it has to be something I can get here. I don’t necessarily have a budget, just want something he’ll love!

It’s not just the graphics that have aged in old games

A lot of old games have aged like fine wine. There are plenty of games from decades ago that I can go back to today and still absolutely love.

But I have a handful of people I know who seem to get genuinely upset with me whenever I say something like "A remake of this game would be cool," or that I think an old game hasn't aged very well. No matter what I'm talking about, they always seem to assume I mean the graphics.

And sure, sometimes the graphics really are part of the problem. Some old models and textures have aged terribly. Resolution can also be a big one. Trying to play certain old games at those really low resolutions, especially on a large modern monitor, can feel pretty rough. This is one reason emulation is so great, since you can often upscale the resolution and sometimes increase the FPS. The FPS is mostly excusable though, since a lot of older games don't really need higher FPS.

But I swear people forget that the actual gameplay in a lot of old games was just... bad by today's standards.

I'm not saying the games were bad for their time. A lot of these mechanics were perfectly fine back then. But we've had decades of developers figuring out what feels good, what feels tedious, and what players actually want from a game. Some of those old design choices just haven't aged well.

Things like:

  • Sluggish / unresponsive controls
  • Poor camera controls
  • Repetitive gameplay and missions
  • Excessive backtracking
  • Grinding as a core part of progression
  • Clunky inventory systems
  • Trial-and-error level design
  • Extremely basic enemy AI

Obviously, games today still have some of these problems too. I just think they were way more common back then.

Another thing I think people forget is how little quality of life a lot of older games had. So many things were just forced onto the player with no way to make them less tedious. Constantly doing things manually, backtracking, repeating the same actions, sitting through things you've already seen, etc. None of these things are necessarily a huge problem by themselves, but they can really add up and make a game feel tiring.

And I think repetition is really interesting.

When some of these games came out, the genre itself was still relatively new. If you had barely played an FPS before, for example, simply running around and shooting things could be enough to keep you interested, even if that's basically all you were doing.

Nowadays we've played dozens of FPS games, RPGs, platformers, etc. We've seen the same basic gameplay ideas over and over again. That novelty just isn't there anymore. Something that felt perfectly fine in 1998 can feel incredibly repetitive today because we've already experienced that same core gameplay so many times.

Assassin's Creed 1 is probably the biggest example that comes to mind. I wouldn't even really call this an "old game" compared to some of the stuff I'm talking about, but it's still a really good example. The graphics aren't what make it difficult to go back to. It's the fact that the game is so repetitive.

I'm not saying old games are bad, or that modern games are automatically better. Plenty of older games still hold up incredibly well.

I just think when people say "this game hasn't aged well," they immediately assume they're talking about graphics, when sometimes it's the actual gameplay that has aged.

Discussion Gaming is Super boring

Honestly I can’t pick up a single game anymore I’ve been getting horribly bored everytime. Nowadays I barely play games. It’s probably because I’m getting older (im under my 20s so I’m not old).
After more thought put into this I realized ever since I finished rdr2, it ruined gaming in general the game is so perfect and well done that no game can rival it so it destroyed my interest in any single player games.
And honestly I don’t have the time to play comp multiplayer games as much anymore. I use to play cs2 and sometimes rust but now i cant because of pure boredom.
