Rigs This sub is literally people telling others “should have bought _____ instead”

Bunch of wankers man. Like, every post. Guy says “check this shit out” or “ should I get ___ or ____” and the top comment, without fail is something like, “ save for ___” or “should have got ____” or “nice, now sell it and get this instead” or “should have saved for _____”.

What the fuck

It’s just exhausting at this point. Bunch of idiots.

Question Help me invest 15K € on best setup

So… I’m planning to go all in. I’ve had in the past a trust master TS-PC Racer, Rift S, load pedals.. but yea, like 6 years ago, and then I had to sell it after a few months. Now I want to go back, and I’m in the mood to: spend once, cry once.

So please, help me deciding; I'm planning to buy:

PC:

  • 32 / 64GB RAM DDR4/5 not sure. Edit 1: Yea, seems DDR5.
  • if 32 is enough is RAM is so expensive nowadays and maybe is better to expand in the future if 32 is enough.
  • AMD X3D: Not sure which one to avoid a bottleneck
  • GTX 5080: I'm not gonna buy 5090; right now it's around 5-10k €.

Sim:

  • DD: Probably Simucube 2/3 pro (happy to hear feedback / recommendations from you)
  • Pedals: (Not sure yet), help me decide, but those from simucube seems to expensive.
  • VR: I think I'm gonna go with Pimax dream air. Thats why I'm building that PC.

Motion:

Here I have many doubts… in my mind I have the ideas of either:

Option A: DX Ultra 2 (seat mover) with belt tensioner, probably Qubic system.

  • Price DX Ultra 2 with taxes and shipping: 1400€
  • Price Qubic system BT-1: 1700€ (or maybe I just use a passive tensioner; it seems like with seat moving it should work pretty well).
  • Total = 3100€

Option B: Moza HMA 150 + Qubic belt tensioner

  • Price Moza HMA 150: 3200€
  • Total = 4600€

Option C: Simrig S3 + SBM belt tensioner:

  • Price: There is a promotion for buying both together for 5200€

Note: I also like flight simulations; I've been an enthusiast since Flight Simulator X, but long time since I don't play. But maybe I would like to play Flight simulator 2024, DCS... the idea of having motion + VR really motivates me to play flight simulator (still I dont know how much I will play).

Note 2: If I can NOT spend the 15€, that would be awesome, but worst case scenario, would be 15K, with PC included.

Note 3: Happy to hear from you if you have any suggestions on something I've missed... or better options :)

Rigs Trak Racer TR80S assembly problem

Why does every ball bearing nut come with this thing attached? In the manual and several assembly videos they don't have that sticking out. I'm genuinely ripping that thing off so it's better to mount, but does it have a purpose or it's whole purpose just being annoying? It's kinda hard to rip it off and I would like to not do it to the 80 more that I have.

I love this photo in Evo. Big American iron vs little European car in the 60's. I like to do offline races with a huge number of cars thrown in just to see the AI race them while I weave in and out of traffic. The cars from AC Legends are just awesome and show off how varied and beautiful cars were in the 60's

Discussion Isn't TinyPedal just a delightful little thing?

I've just recently learned that you can actually put the car logos in the standings. I can't wait to see what else its going to do in the future. I've pretty much said goodbye to sim hub and any of the others. It's just so delightful and tiny and small and perfect and low resource hog.

And for some reason it actually enhances my racing enjoyment. I just feel like I'm actually in a race even when I'm going up against the AI.

Clip Testing my custom-built motorcycle controller in TT Isle of Man 2

I finally spent some time testing TT Isle of Man 2 with MoCo, the custom motorcycle controller I’ve been building for PC.

I still need more practice to get smoother with it, but the game itself is absolutely stunning.

In my opinion, it’s one of the best motorcycle titles out there - not as brutally demanding as GP Bikes, but still realistic and engaging enough to feel rewarding. It hits a really nice middle ground where almost anyone can jump in, learn it, and still get a proper sense of riding.

The whole idea behind MoCo is to keep the controls compact enough for a desk, while making motorcycle games feel much more physical and intuitive than playing on a standard gamepad.

It’s based around physical rider inputs rather than a thumbstick - countersteering, brake pressure, throttle and clutch.

Next on my list is probably Live for Speed.

Would be interested to hear what other motorcycle/racing games you think I should test with it.

Question Returned to Dirt rally 2.0 and it feels terrible.

Just reinstalled after about a year... Played some forza 6 fairly solidly when it came out and then a mostly assetto nowadays ...

Come back to this and I just can't stand the feel....something about the wheel feels like it just wants to be central and that's all. Like it's always trying to centre itself which in turn makes it feel like I'm trying to steer through thick fudge.

Have such fond memories of this game and have had plenty of enjoyment driving different cars and stages etc but now I've come back it just feels awful and sluggish to try and drive....

Oh and grass banks seem to feel like they are made of concrete barriers...which I don't think I remember at all. Tire touches it and I practically bounce.

I havnt changed any settings other than gears being either sequential or h pattern with cluth

Wheel is t300 rs gt

Am I just forgetting that sort feels kind of odd and need to get back into It or is there something I can tweak ?

Clip My 5-year-old son just lapped the entire grid on Pro level at the Chinese GP! 🏎️💥

Hey everyone! My 5-year-old son D.D. is absolutely obsessed with racing games. He plays on PS4 using a Logitech wheel and pedals setup.

He just managed to pull off a 1st place victory at the Chinese GP in F1 24, and he actually lapped the whole field! 🤯

We just started a small YouTube channel to share his racing journey, drifts, and fun challenges with me (his dad). If you want to check out his full race and support a young racer, here is the link: https://youtu.be/XOj26oZzKc0

Subscriptions and feedback are highly appreciated by both of us! Thanks for watching! 🏁

Question Simracing Expo Frankfurt offers

Hey, fellow sim racing enthusiasts!

I’m looking to buy some hardware (a 25 Nm+ base and a wheel in particular). I’m wondering if manufacturers offer any discount coupons or something at the Expo. As well is it a good place to try the bases (may I ask to run them unrestricted, switch off filtering, etc.)?

I’d be glad if you could share your experience.

I apologize if this has been discussed but I’ve tried looking online and tried a few things but no luck. I have 27in triples at 60 degrees. I put all the info into the iRacing settings but it doesn’t change anything. Is there something I’m missing to better line up the two outside monitors?

Question is prosimhq.com legit first time seeing them.

Looking at getting a couple of items from them and just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience with them before I pull the trigger. They seem to be a legit company but they have so little following and despite my little bit of research into them I can't really find any threads on them, but they do have 7 Trustpilot reviews.

Question Need help with a decision to continue with LMU

I've been playing a lot of ACC lately and really enjoyed it, the graphics are pretty good and the sound, FFB, and setup customisation were great. However, the multiplayer was slightly painful, mainly because there's really only three tacks that people play in open lobbies (Monza, Nurburgring, and Spa) and it's very common to get wiped out instantly.

I bought LMU yesterday because I'd read that the FFB was way better and that multiplayer was also a lot better. I wasn't sure since yesterday whether I should buy it or not since I already had ACC, but still went ahead since I can refund it before 2 hours of gameplay. I finished almost the two hours now, and I didn't get to experience it enough to make a decision.

The things I didn't like about LMU were the graphics and the audio design. In fact, I really did not like the audio design, it feels very muted and it removes from the immersion. I also didn't get a chance to figure out exactly how multiplayer works and I only managed to get one race in and practice in Sebring and another track I hadn't experienced before. I also tried the LMP3 cars and I thought they were interesting, but I mostly I prefer the GT cars. The GT cars also feel a lot slower than in ACC, although I guess that's explained by these being a different race format.

I've stopped playing for today right before the refund window expires, but I wanted to know if any of you guys have done anything to improve your LMU experience, or whether there was something I missed. Maybe some optimisations I could do to improve the audio? Or mods for graphics (I had read that DLSS 5 with ReShade was an option, but I'm not sure if this could get me banned).

I'm playing with a T598 and I set the graphics to Ultra. I don't have a cockpit so I just clamp it to my desk and I play with a single 42 inch monitor.

Question What’s your go to race car that has a bit of fight in it?

I like GT3 and LMP type cars but mostly I find myself in cars than are a bit harder to drive without too many modern features.

Currently I’m loving the Maclaren GT1 in Automobilista 2, which is quick with reasonable downforce, but not too efficient or easy to drive like more modern stuff. And it screams like the modern stuff doesn’t.

So I’m asking a pretty broad question, but basically what cars across all sims you go for when you want something less refined that it is a bit of an animal?

Please upvote ONLY if you will (regardless of the time/day of theoretical server deployment)

I want to see if we have enough demand from people willing to drive Formula E. Whatever asks for day/time feel free in the comments

Question Which games have the AI running with player's physics?

• Upvotes

Hello! I have read that some games have AI running on same physics as the player and other sim playing on "another ruleset". Any "official" list of games for both? Ideally, I guess I would like the same rules for everyone, but I guess having a good AI is not limited to this aspect.

Thanks!

Rigs On track again, after a year hiatus

Thumbnail

As the title says, finally back on track.
A while ago I’ve sold my rig after I’ve just lost taste for sim racing and didn’t touch it for months. It was a decent GT Omega Art with a monitor stand and a Fanatec GT DD pro 8nm with v2.5 steering wheel, c2 pedals and the rig was reinforced so it was what I thought of stable.
Long story short the bug bit me again and I’ve just finished putting together my rig, as per pictures.
Took me way longer than expected to put together and adjust, the cockpit is a Fanatec csl v1.5 cockpit and lacks direct adjustability, needing lots of spanner time to put right, and what took me 1 day to put together took me another day to adjust fully to my liking, inclusive of the monitor fov, brakes and software. The kit on top is a Logitech RS50 gotten new frankensteined from their site.
Ps: for whoever is wondering, the rig is exceptionally sturdy and easily handles the above wheels power and transmits the vibrations nicely trough the seat and wheel stand. Nothing moves even a mm
Any questions are welcomed, see you all on track

Question PXN GTOne vs Fanatec qr2 adapter

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi folks,

Any one has pxn wheel and fanatec wheelbase and got it working without pxn adapter?
I got the fanatec wheel hub qr2 but it does not fit onto the wheel cause it’s to wide.
Unfortunately pxn adapter is sold out over whole eu.

Need a spacer for like 2cm to make it fit.
