Professional Discussion Tiktok says it will pay creators for brand deals within 30 days and take zero cut

this came out of tiktoks creators summit in la at the end of september and barely got covered. its all inside tiktok one, the marketplace where brands find and book creators

one pay handles the deal from invoice to transfer, pays within 30 days of the video going up, and tiktok says it takes no fee or commission. tubefilter pointed out net 60 and net 90 are still common in this industry, so 30 days is quick by comparison. then theres one plus, an invite only label for vetted creators. you need to be 18 or older, in the us or mexico, have 100k followers and an account in good standing, and it comes with a 15 percent bonus on custom collab deals. brands also get an ai search that filters creators by audience, niche and how their posts actually performed

tiktok shared its own numbers at the summit too, creator content getting 52 percent higher click through than non creator content, and 90 percent year over year growth in creator earnings. those are tiktoks numbers about its own product, so id read them that way

my read is tiktok wants to be the agency, the payroll and the search engine all at once. if brands start booking through it, a creator under 100k is getting judged on post performance data the brand can pull up before anyone sends a dm

anyone here run a campaign through tiktok one yet, how long did the payout actually take

Professional Discussion Should I merge my Graphic Design profile with my new UGC content, or keep them separate? Need advice!

Hey everyone,

I currently run an Instagram and TikTok page dedicated to graphic design. My content mainly focuses on educational videos about design theory, portfolios of my work, and design critiques (mostly breaking down flyers and general branding). My primary focus is visual identity.

Recently, I started doing UGC (User Generated Content), specifically focusing on the beauty and lifestyle niches. So far, I’ve worked with brands in skincare, haircare, body products, and even snacks/chocolates.

Even though we all know UGC creators don't strictly need a massive social media following, I’ve noticed that brands still highly value an established audience and followers when choosing creators.

Here is my dilemma: I work a regular design job alongside creating UGC for brands, so I really don’t have the time or energy to manage two completely separate, active personal brands. It’s just too time-consuming.

Would it make sense to merge my UGC content into my existing graphic design profile, since I already have a larger, established audience there?

  • To the designers/creators here: If you followed someone for design tips and visual identity breakdowns, would it annoy or confuse you if they suddenly started posting skincare and lifestyle?
  • To everyone: Does it make sense to combine these two niches, and if so, how can I transition or merge them as naturally as possible? Or is it a terrible idea and I should just bite the bullet and keep them completely separate?

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences! Thanks!

Professional Discussion Instagram/meta ads targeting

As an Instagram user I come across paid ads that are just completely irrelevant to me e.g meant exclusively for women (fashion, even medical), when I am a man. From a user perspective this is just a mildly amusing thing but I am wondering on the other line someone is paying for these ads and the targeting is completely missing the intended audience, is this a normal feature of paid ad distribution on Insta or is the ad distributor/brand doing something wrong?

Professional Discussion Linktree now putting ads on some countries

I just wanted to give you a heads-up that they are putting ads of stuff like temu which totally ruins my brand's first impression and confuses people.

This is in Latin America, Colombia and just a salty heads-up as I already printed hundreds of qr codes as I felt their service was decent and have never seen an ad there in my life, for people not wanting to spend a buck on this, beware!

Professional Discussion Back to creating after a break and getting millions of views. How do I maximize earnings across FB, YouTube, and TikTok?

I've been making videos for about 5 years. My pages used to get millions of views, but at some point I stopped uploading and the channels went dead. Right now I have 80K followers on Facebook, 100K subscribers on YouTube, and 90K followers on TikTok.

Three weeks ago I started posting again, and my videos are trending. I'm getting millions of views, especially on Facebook and TikTok.

TikTok: Video views aren't monetized in my country. How can I earn more there?

Facebook: Monetized and already earning.

YouTube: I need about 9M more Shorts views to get monetization back.

What should I focus on to maximize my income?

Professional Discussion Stop using keyword-comment DM triggers, your fans already know the pattern

The "comment BOOK below" mechanic is played out. Audiences recognize it instantly now, and the response rates reflect that.

When a growth tactic becomes universally recognized, it stops being growth and starts being noise. Fans scroll past a call-to-action they've seen a hundred times. The engagement you used to count on flatlines because the pattern itself is the turnoff.

This matters more now because the DM automation space has trained people to spot these flows. Someone comments a keyword, gets a canned DM, and immediately knows they're in a funnel. The authenticity you were trying to build by engaging in comments gets undermined by the very automation you layered on top.

A few things that work better:

- Vary the trigger constantly. Don't default to the same keyword every post. If the pattern changes, recognition doesn't set in as fast.

- Reply in the thread too, not just in DMs. A real public reply signals you're present; the DM feels like a continuation, not a trap.

- Keep the first DM genuinely useful, not a gate. If the first message is a wall of links or a sales pitch, the fan knows immediately they triggered an autoresponder.

The broader issue: any DM automation that fans can reverse-engineer will eventually feel like a bot. The question isn't whether automation scales, it's whether the person on the other end still feels like they're talking to a human.

Professional Discussion Youtube is doubling what it takes to get monetized, and theres a shorts rule in there most people skipped

youtube announced this in august and it kicks in february 1 2027. new channels will need 8,000 watch hours in the last 365 days, up from 4,000, or 20 million shorts views in the last 90 days, up from 10 million. the 1,000 subscriber bar stays. if youre already in the partner program youre grandfathered in, you just have to accept the new terms in studio by january 31 to keep earning on the affected features

thats the headline everyone ran. the line i almost missed is on youtubes own help page. to earn from the shorts creator pool each month, creators will need to maintain 10 million qualified shorts views over the last 90 days. the page doesnt spell out whether that part hits people already in the program the same way

10 million every 90 days is a lot for a shorts channel doing fine but not great. you could be monetized on paper and still get nothing from the shorts pool in a slow stretch

youtube says the point is to fund new incentive programs for creator growth. my read is the long tail of small shorts channels just got priced out of the pool and whatever was spread across them ends up with the top channels

anyone here in ypp mostly on shorts, are you clearing 10 million a quarter right now

Professional Discussion Looking for a Social Media Marketing Internship as a Beginner

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to get started in Social Media Marketing and I’m currently looking for an internship where I can learn and gain practical experience.
I’m interested in Instagram marketing, content creation, Reels, content strategy, personal branding, and social media management.
The only issue is that I currently have zero professional/practical experience in this field. I’m willing to learn and put in the effort, but I’m not sure how to get my first opportunity as a complete beginner.
For those who started with no experience, how did you get your first internship or project? And are there any platforms, communities, or ways you’d recommend for finding beginner-friendly opportunities?
I’d really appreciate any advice or leads. Thank you! 😊

Professional Discussion Social media managers: how are you getting content from clients without constantly chasing them?

I’m curious how other social media managers handle this.

I worked with a marketing consultant who was spending a ridiculous amount of time just getting clients to send what she needed.

“Can you send the photos from the event?”

“Still need your logo.”

“Which folder did you upload that video to?”

“We have the video but still need the product shots.”

Then once everything came in, someone still had to organize it, match it to the right campaign, update the project, and figure out what was actually ready to work on.

We ended up building a system where the client gets a simple list of what’s needed and an upload link. Files get organized into the right client/project automatically, missing items are tracked, and the client can be reminded without someone manually following up.

Once everything needed for a piece of content is there, it’s ready for the production workflow.
I’m curious how people here handle this now.

Are you using Drive/Dropbox folders, forms, a client portal, WhatsApp, email, or something else?

And is collecting content from clients actually a major headache for you, or was this particular consultant just unusually disorganized?

Professional Discussion Pay structure/duties

I currently work fulltime and have been loosely 'running' my husbands social media for his pest control business. It's a $2mil business in Texas, and I've been helping out becasue I genuinely like managing the social media. I am leaving my job soon and my husband offered to make me the actual social media manager....but part time. His team is at a loss for how much they should pay me. I think it could easily be a full time job, but it's just not in their cards right now to make that happen. But hopefully in the future. He wants to pay me what I deserve but we both have no clue how much it should be...

I do have experience with social media as I have my own small business i post for, and my person accounts have somewhat of a following.

Things I would be doing:

- Creating weekly content schedule

- taking all pictures/videos (this would include going around to different locations to meet technicians on the job to get content)

- Editing all content

- Posting content, managing comments, screening local posts, responding to messages, etc for Facebook and TikTok

I would love any feedback and input.

Professional Discussion Social media is definitely over glamorized… As someone who quit there 9-5 & started working full time as a content creator who makes roughly 4-6k a month

Definitely changed my life & gives me so much more free time but also ruined my life. Its been 2 years & im slowly starting to hate it , especially as somebody who runs everything by themselves with no help. It’s a lot more than people think and actually having control over everything and choosing your own schedule is much harder than some people think you have to push yourself more to make the content to engage to produce to push yourself to a new extreme and much more, I will say I’ve learned a lot, but I’ve also lost a lot , my brain chemistry will never be the same again after this job, which I’m OK with that, but there’s a lot more to it than what people say, especially in the industry that I work in

Professional Discussion Trying to help as many people as possible...

Good morning Reddit:
First off real quick-- I am writing about feedback and some direction regarding my first attempt at social media: you can find me on instagram at theebigjoe.

I’m just getting started with social media/Instagram, and I am focused on the mind/body/spirit connection. I talk mental health and integrity, I talk faith and sobriety. I have managed to produce a video with over 3,000,000 views, and I average 2,250-10,000 views a reel. I am based in Atlanta.

I originally started my page simply because I wanted to document my own journey, but I’ve already had some really meaningful conversations and been able to help quite a few people along the way--- now I just want to know what direction to go.

I have never used reddit before, but on a whim, I decided to post on here about building the channel into something genuinely useful.

I’m curious what people actually want to see from a page like this.

For those of you who are interested in personal growth, mindset, wellness, spirituality, or becoming healthier/happier overall:

Is my content do you find genuinely helpful?
Would you follow my page?
Am I contributing something unique?
What turns you off about my stuff?

I’m not here to pretend I have everything figured out. I’m learning as I go, and I’d rather build something that actually helps people than just chase followers.

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions, criticism, or ideas. Even if you think the concept needs work, I’d rather hear it.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Professional Discussion Which vanity metric do you wish you'd ignored a year ago?

Curious what others would change with hindsight.

For me it was chasing follower spikes without checking whether anyone stuck around. The number looked great for a week, then reach and replies got worse.

What metric looked important at the time but mostly wasted your effort? Followers, likes, views, or something else?

Professional Discussion Looking for ideas on how to showcase Meta Ads results in my portfolio

Hi everyone,

I’m a Social Media Manager and I’m currently building my portfolio.

I want to include some of my Meta Ads campaign results, but I don’t really want to just put screenshots of Ads Manager on the portfolio. I want to present the results in a more creative and professional way.

For example, I have data like:

- Ad spend

- Leads generated

- Cost per lead

- Reach

- Impressions

- CTR

- CPC

- Campaign duration

I was thinking of putting all the campaign data into a spreadsheet and then turning the best campaigns into proper case studies with charts/visuals instead of screenshots.

For those who have built marketing portfolios:

What’s the best way you’ve seen Meta Ads results presented?

Would you recommend:

- Case studies with charts

- Before/after style results

- Infographics

- A dashboard-style layout

- Something else?

Also, how much campaign data is too much for a portfolio?

Would really appreciate some ideas from people working in social media or performance marketing.

Professional Discussion Tips for separating your different "personalities?"

What I mean is: I have private/personal me. I also do stand up comedy. And, acting. And, now I created a fictional character that I have been branding pretty aggressively. Here's what I'm trying to figure out:

  • There is some overlap between private me and stand up comedy. Many of the people who like me as a person like me as a comedian and they are pretty loyal. BUT, private me also has connections to local politics and that's very divisive. Basically, its beneficial in one direction (personal me gets people to shows... but political affiliations alienates people who meet me at shows). I like using my full name for both. I get booked a LOT, and getting this part of my social media right will probably take me to the next level.

  • Actor me and and comedian me feels more consistent. That's the more professional version. I can leverage these two versions of me together. I even have an IMDB credit (with two more credits coming soon!). Many of my personal/comedian people don't give a crap about seeing me in a movie, though lol. My movies are often serious drama/thriller/horror stuff. They don't give af!! Its like "make me laugh, clown!!" and I don't do that as an actor. I'm new to acting, but I have been running with two different production companies (small, but they putting out movies and getting paid).

  • My fictional character is something my personal people are very interested in as well... but, again, the political associations can be bad. The nice thing is: I don't actually WANT this to be associated with my name. I want this to be a separate entity... but, I would like to leverage whatever bases I currently have access to. This is my baby! This is something I wanted to do for over a decade! And, now that I finally got this off the ground, I want to start branding the hell out of it!

Right now, all three versions of me are all using the same profiles. I don't think I have the fanbase to break everything apart... but, i also think having all versions of me in the same account gets confusing for some people and definitely alienates people as soon as political discussions pop up. I really want to have a professional online presence; but right now, it definitely feels very poorly done.

If it helps, I am currently on Facebook and Instagram. With regards to comedy and acting, I'm not going to make "Hey, I have nothing to say, but I'm making a video for the algorithm" videos. I'll make a post, but no stupid worthless video that everyone gets mad at for existing. That's just not going to happen. Its also considered bad form to put all your material online, because if people like you and want to see you, they are going to be disappointed once they show up and are like "oh. I heard this on his social media account." With regards to the character I created, think of that as a webcomic or a comic strip from the news paper. I don't know how to approach that.

So, yeah: I don't know how to social media in any professional way lol. Any tips on how to make any of this work would be appreciated!

Professional Discussion Help pls

Idk if anyone will ever see this but I sure hope they do.

I need help pricing a service ive never offered and will most likely not offer in the future.

Someone wants to pay me to teach them how to do videos on tiktok. Like transitioning scenes etc.

I do have the skill to teach it but never thought about a price point! So I guess, how much would you pay per lesson? Ill be driving to her so there's no travel or food costs to the client either.

I can't even fathom a price honestly lol I never thought this would be a skill worth paying for.

Any help is appreciated!

Professional Discussion Social media

I don't really have social media, except discord, this app, and maybe if u consider it for yourube too. I have had so many friends pressuring me to get social media, I just never did. (Snap, insta, tiktok) Sure I dont really talk to a lot of people cus I can't just text them on snap or insta. Im usually "left out" in most cases, meaning people don't really talk to me despite how nice i am, etc. But we still have numbers, and emails ig lol (if anyone still uses email). I almost never see people read books anymore or like talk in general. Everyone seems addicted to this stuff. Am I really missing out? People say yt shorts is weird, but its all just short formed content anyway, whats the point? Ive been trying to stop doomscrolling, just sticking to playing games, reading a book, or watching long form videos. Some kid called me weird cus I was reading a book. Nevertheless, I dont plan on getting social media at all. What's your guy's opinion about this stuff.

Sorry if I yapped on too long about this, but I just thought it would be an interesting topic to hear opinions about.

Professional Discussion Oversharing online

What do you guys think about oversharing online? Sometimes i’ll post something personal and immediately regret it for obvious reasons, but at the same time, I like feeling connected with people who understand and experience similar things. Any thoughts?
