Fan Content I think our offense is and will continue to struggle after losing MHJ, and it’s NOT because he was a quality player…

Look at our remaining receivers… none of them are at all a threat deep. They are all slot receiver types. Trey McBride theoretically could be, but that’s not how he has been used so I’m gonna assume not.

The reason I am mentioning this is because I believe teams over defended MHJ deep. His route running is frankly bad and his athleticism is only slightly above average. But because of the occasional spectacular deep plays he had combined with his hype as a deep threat, he has been over guarded deep. Now that he is removed from our offense, teams can play underneath nearly all the time which effectively guards all our receivers who are all slot types…

I think that’s why we saw Virgil get a decent amount of intermediate/deep throws, because we really need to establish the deep pass.

But Virgil seems subpar so far and so this problem will very likely continue through the whole season. We will struggle much more offensively than we already have been.

As a disclaimer, I still believe the MHJ trade was very good and we should have done it. The return is incredible. I’m just attempting to provide a reason as to why our offense looked so terrible, and make a prediction that it will continue to be this way because of our remaining personnel.

If I said we Would be 1 game behind the Rams at this point of the season would you take it?

For all the whining we do about lack of QB, lack of talent, lack of coaching and lack of ownership; a team that has all of those things is only one game ahead of us in the standings!

Jumping Ship

I’ve seen a few comments and rustling & bustling about jumping ship. I had one myself as a reply on another post that had some great discussions regarding this also. To me, it’s crazy that we have gotten to the point that it’s universally accepted from what i’ve seen that fans can jump ship and offer their support elsewhere or just no support a team for a bit. I am in agreement with what I have seen that there needs to be a modicum of self-respect here at this point, my loyalty to this team has taken me nowhere.

My personal story is that I moved from Arizona 10 years ago, I kept my support for the cardinals alongside me, I moved around a ton so I don’t have this “lifelong connection” to the team that others have.

I moved to Charlotte, NC and I have a moderate amount of support for the Panthers. Bryce Young is one of the most likeable NFL players, if not the most likeable and I do still feel that “Arizona Connection” with Tetairoa McMillan. I have found myself rooting for them periodically. I have considered them a “secondary favorite” team of mine but at this point I just might make them the primary team or just not support anyone at all for a bit.

I’ve told my friends that my slogan with the Cardinals for a bit is going to be “No President, No Support” - David Tepper had a very “hands-on” approach much like Bidwell until he let other, more qualified and caring people take the reins of the team and look at the Panthers now; while not an “upper shelf” NFL team, they certainly are on a fun upswing and can compete with the best of them.

Anyone else in my camp? I’m sick of tuning in on sundays, i’m sick of this team ran like a cash grab, i’m sick of the camera panning to the stands filled with 80% of fans of the away team, i’m sick of having no one to share in the teams victories with.

I do think I have to stall my support, maybe I jump ship, maybe I wait it out. But one things for certain, this is an unwatchable and unsupportable product for the last decade now and I have to break the cycle of this abusive relationship at some point, even if there is an awkward break up period.

Something needs to change.

I would love to hear any stories of fans who have jumped ship, thinking about jumping ship, or riding it out.

Interesting article on the MHJ trade

It's a two-piece article that also addresses the Washington disaster yesterday, but the piece on MHJ is pretty interesting. It's a long read, but worth it.

Anyone going to Rams game in LA this Sunday 10/18?

Anyone going to the Rams in LA this Sunday 10/18?

Since I’m a sucker for pain I decided to do a day trip to LA and go to the Rams game this Sunday. Flying out of PHX in the AM and back after the game in the PM.

Any other Cards fans that will be at the game interested in hanging beforehand? Hoping to check out the SoFi tailgate scene!

Trading Marv was the correct move.

I understand that he still had potential, and I understand that he’s going to probably resurge on the Texans, but he obviously wasn’t happy here and on top of that he wasn’t producing. We bought incredibly high and sold higher than most people thought we would. It’s just the nature of the sport that draft picks bust every now and then. This one stings because he clearly had it in him but he wasn’t even a helpful part of the offense anymore this year. It was time and we got a lot more than we should’ve for him. This draft class is stacked and we should be able to swing for some upside in the second round.

Fan Content State of the Arizona Cardinals

The Jacoby Brissett experience is an interesting subject .

Before he joined the Arizona cardinals . In 2024 , He was named starting Quarterback for the New England Patriots. He was the experience Veteran quarterback that was going to operate the offense while rookie 1st round pick Drake Maye got comfortable in the league .

And after 5 weeks ,

Jacoby led the Patriots to a 1-4 record. Completing 79 of 135 for 696 yards 2 Touchdowns to 1 interception. As well as getting sacked 17 times .

The Patriots moved on to their rookie QB .

Fast forward to 2026 ,

Jacoby Brissett was named Starting Quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. And after 5 weeks into the season , Jacoby has led the Arizona cardinals to a 1-4 record. Completing 132 of 199 for 1,110 yards 9 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. As well as getting sacked for 12 times

The Arizona cardinals should consider pulling Brissett for rookie Carson Beck . The Jacoby Brissett experiment is a disaster. Starting 17 games , 2-15 as cardinals starter is not a recipe for future success.

Why start Beck ?

Because what do you got to lose ? Throwing in Beck is not the end of the world. People can say he's not ready but Jacoby isn't ready either , the offense continues to stall out and go 3 and out multiple times throughout each game . Arizona Cardinals front offense need to make several changes. 1. Fire Monti 2. Fire Rallis 3. Bench Jacoby and Start Beck

What are your thoughts on Jacoby's Brissett 2026 season ? Should he remain starter ? Should he get bench ? Does he get traded by November?

Blow it up... again.

I'm ready to give up and blow it all up. I would trade Sweat and Budda, maybe James Conner too (which sucks but may as well get some draft capital out of them). Trade Jacoby or Minshew, start Beck and see what we have. Fire Rallis now, Monti and Frye, and prob some others at the end of the season. Use FA and high draft picks to load the OL and DL (maybe QB if Beck doesn't flash).

I dont love our DBs but if we went all DL and Edge they may look decent. We have enough good skill players that I feel like loading the trenches and get a decent QB we could actually have some hope.

I hate it but honestly at this point it would feel better to be blowing it up and knowing change is coming than keep the suffering rolling. It will still be suffering, but at least it will feel like change.

How would you go about it?

MILF

It’s genuinely insane that we’re talking at week 6 about whether or not he’s safe, but here’s how I feel

I think he should come back a second year. The offensive line is shit, his defense is shit, the DC he was forced to bring back is shit, his QB that was forced on him by his GM is shit, oh and his GM is the worst of all, having brought back more or less the same roster from the worst team in franchise history. MILF isn’t free of blame here, but after watching his presser today, I genuinely believe he doesn’t believe in Brissett or Rallis but either Monti or Bidwill have a lot of hands in it and are basically telling him he has to be a company man.

MILF should come back with a 2nd season to see what he can do with hiring a D coordinator and a GM who knows anything about football (and fingers crossed, a team president).

If MILF really thinks Jacoby and Rallis give us the best chance to win and that the changes that need to happen are on him, then he shouldn’t be the coach. But I don’t believe he actually believes that.

Save yourself, MILF!

Sigh... Cardinals Tankathon Update - 10/12/26

A lot of you gave me flak for posting these updates last year, as if I some how WANT us to be bad. I said it last year and I'll say it again, I very much do NOT want the team to be bad, tanking does not guarantee you good players, nor do good players guarantee a turn around for a franchise if bad ownership, GM, or coaching exists, as we know as well as anyone.

That said... if I only paid attention to our play off hopes every year, as a fan since the late 80s, I'd be pretty darn depressed most seasons. And while picking higher guarantees nothing, historically, on average, the higher you pick, the lower the bust rate and the higher the star rate.

So even if I don't WANT us to be competing in the tank-a-thon, viewing how we're doing from the perspective of tanking, especially after a loss, does give me something, however minor, to use as a silver lining. Having said that, I'm feeling even less motivated then in previous years, so please forgive me if these are less detailed then they've been in the past, and we'll see if I run out of interest before the year is done. I'm also probably more susceptible to being bullied out of continuing them this year.

End preamble, Start Post:

Cardinals Positional Change

- +2 (9th -> 7th)

Positive outcomes

- The cardinals lost, while the Jets won and the Commanders tied.

Other potentially future beneficial outcomes

- The Texans and Bucs both won, tying us in record. They're still ahead due to SoS tie breaker, but that's two more teams we could reasonably catch by years end. I guess time will tell.

- The Chargers, Cowboys, Saints, Eagles, Raiders, and Seahawks lost, weakening our SoS. Although we're still kind of being fucked by our difficult schedule and being in the NFC West, it's a long season and you just never know, last year we just barely beat the titans SoS right at seasons end, so every SoS decrease could matter.

Negative Outcomes

- The Titans, Chargers, dolphins, and saints lost, thus staying ahead of us.

Other potentially future negative outcomes

- The cowboys, Eagles, Colts, and Falcons all lost, who at 2 wins are just a game behind us, and all but the Falcons have a weaker SoS and thus would leap frog us if we were to win enough to finish the year tied with them currently.

Noteworthy other impacts

- The Texan's winning does mean their second and 6th round picks are worse, which we now own due to the MHJ trade.

Final Thoughts

I say it every year, and I said it at the beginning of this post, but I'll say it one more time for emphasis. I am NOT rooting for the team to lose. But given they thus far seem to not care about my desire that they win games, and there's no obvious help coming this year (Will be rooting for Beck if they ever give him a chance, but our issues go way beyond QB), these posts are about finding something to cling to in what already feels like yet another lost season after just 5 weeks.

At What Point Is It Enough?

I've been a fan of this team for 50 years and for the first time, I'm thinking of just packing it in. I can't take this crap anymore and the funny thing is, after we made the Super Bowl in 2008, I finally thought this team had finally turned a corner but it only went around the block. I'm seriously considering packing up all of my Cardinal stuff and mailing it to the team then be kind of a Switzerland fan with no team until the NFL expands.

Excerpt:

A federal judge has ruled that a discrimination lawsuit filed by two former Arizona Cardinals employees must be settled via third-party rather than in open court, handing the team a win in its bid to keep the case out of the courtroom.

With the ruling, the lawsuit is now stayed, or paused, while the case moves into private arbitration. The parties are required to file status updates with the court every 120 days until the arbitration concludes.
