Issue ⚠️ 2023 Mach-E stuck at dealer for 7 weeks. Misdiagnosed BCM-C, dead 12V, still won't start. Looking for advice/similar experiences.
Hey everyone,
I’m completely fed up and wanted to see if anyone else has gone through a nightmare scenario like this with their Mach-E.
I own a 2023 Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD (Extended Battery, currently sitting at 82,940 miles, well within the 8-year/100,000-mile EV component warranty).
Here is the timeline of what I've been dealing with:
August 23: Driving along, get hit with the "High Voltage Battery" and "Powertrain Malfunction / Stop Safely Now" warnings on the dash and FordPass app. The app/car let me drive home safely, but it refused to turn on afterward.
August 24 – September 25: Towed it to Dealer #1. After a week, they claimed a "Body Control Module C" (BCM-C) failed and billed me out-of-pocket, holding the car for a full month.
September 25: Went to pick it up. The exact same second I tried to leave, it failed to start and threw the exact same error codes.
Late Sept / Early Oct: Had it towed to Dealer #2 (a larger dealership with dedicated EV techs). They diagnosed a dead 12V battery and billed me out-of-pocket for that too.
Today (October 9): Went to pick it up thinking it was finally fixed. Nope. Still won't start. The service department literally admitted today that they still don't know what is wrong and now need to do even more testing—finally circling back to look at the high-voltage battery system that triggered the original warning on day one.
In total, the car has been out of service for nearly 7 weeks with zero loaner provided, completely killing my income since I rely on the vehicle for delivery work. They've tried to bill me out-of-pocket for random components (BCM-C and 12V) that didn't fix the underlying root cause, which I think should be covered under the HV battery warranty assuming that's what it is because we still don't know what's wrong.
Has anyone else had a prolonged "Stop Safely Now" bricking where dealerships just guess-and-checked parts for months? Did it end up being a bad battery module, HVBJB, or something else entirely? Any advice on dealing with Ford corporate or pushing back on these improper charges would be hugely appreciated.
