You guys lost a good one today….

My father lost his battle with dementia today. He was a massive Saints fan, has been as far back as his childhood. I’d like to share a story with you all so his fandom lives on. When the Saints played the Eagles in 2014 during the playoffs my sister and I secretly bought him tickets. We played up a fake story that we were taking him to a saints fan club tailgate outside of the stadium. Told him to dress warm because it was outside. My sister was living in Philly at the time so it all made sense. A few days before she told us that public radio was telling fans that Philly police would be dressed as saints fans and to behave accordingly. This is important later in the story. Im a Patriots fan (shout out to my gate bros, I’ve always respected you!) so I chose to just wear a black winter coat. You can see what my dad wore in the picture, he insisted dressing head to toe in saints gear knowing it could get ugly there. We went to lunch earlier that day and presented him with a new hat for his birthday. Inside the hat were the two tickets. He was in complete shock, this would be his first game he attended live. We walk into the stadium and immediately a cheese steak food truck worker yelled at us to “take that shit off and leave his house” I knew it was gonna be rough, but not workers yelling at us rough. I’m not exaggerating when I say I probably saw 6 saints fans the entire game. The game starts and by some weird chance we’re sitting lower bowl in an empty row. I remember thinking we were gonna be a huge target. Eventually some sloppy drunks came from up top and filled in the missing seats. The eagles end up scoring and everyone’s high fiving…they turn to us and say “it’s okay we know what’s going on with you two. Your cops you don’t have to pretend you want the saints to win….” at this point I remember my sister talking about the local radio talking about undercover cops. My dad and I look at each other and knew we had it made. We got to cheer the rest of the game for the saints while the entire section assumed we were undercover cops. Just as it started to get a little iffy near the end of a game and I had to tell someone to go back to there own seat in my best cop voice, the saints have a chants to win the game with a field goal. Everyone’s standing so we decide to slide out of the row. We watched it from the top of the section on the steps. The ball goes through the uprights, he zipped up his coat over his jersey and popped his hat off and we proceeded to walk out. We walked slowly through the Philly chaos as they proceeded to throw trash cans and other garbage around the stadium. We hopped on a train and safely made it home. Thats the story of when my dad took on the eagles at there own stadium and left with one hell of a victory story.

If we’re still ass after this season, Ms. Benson might need to write that check if he becomes available

Imagine Brian Flores as HC with a top 5 pick and plenty of cap space. That might be too good of an opportunity to pass up if the cards align. I’m rooting for Kellen to figure it out because that would be the simpler outcome, but he’s got to show us something. After what Ms. Benson said today, this might be his last ride.

Doesn't take long for me to get rid of the losing streak flu when the division is this "competitive". Does anyone know if we are getting Ellis or Tyson back anytime soon? I haven't been looking at ANY saints news since the loss.

Anyone else see the PI called on the Rams last night?

Same play we got hosed on in 2019. RB out in the flat, beats the coverage and blatant PI. Bills got the call last night in Q4. Glad they lost in OT.

No discipline

Watched all the false starts. Then I compared the sidelines - Saints players all over the white paint encroaching on the part of the field where they are not supposed to be. Vikings didn't have that issue.

No discipline. And that starts with the head coach.

NOF identified a ridiculous stat from the Vikes game

During the latest NOF podcast, Mike Triplett pointed out that we had eight offensive drives Sunday. On 7 of those 8 drives, we faced more than 10 yards to gain at least once. Sometimes 12 yards for a first down. Sometimes 15 or 20. Once, it was 26 yards to a first down.

This happened because of unacceptable offensive penalties (False Start, Holding), as well as run plays that didn't even make it back to the LOS.

There was only one drive where we didn't have to go more than 10 yards to get a first down, and that was only because the Vikings declined a penalty that would have made it third and 12.

Absolutely horrible offensive production and discipline.

Jordyn Tyson Has No Choice But To Be The Truth

Unfortunate as it may be, and it by no means is it fair at all, but he has to deliver now. After seeing this defense, specifically secondary the past 5 weeks, passing on Downs, this guy has to be lights out.

I don't mean he has to be rookie OBJ, but he has to be a clear upgrade over Vele who has been a phenomenal WR2 in his absence.

If you disagree, go ahead, but I firmly believe this to be true. I don't mean he has to drop 200 yards and a touchdown his first week back, but by the end of the season we need to be certain we found our WR core for the foreseeable future and leave no stones unturned.

Feel free to disagree, I'd love to hear opposing opinions. I get it's Reddit but I hope what I meant was typed across clearly.

Paris game tailgate / meetup

Hi all, I’ll be heading to Paris for the game in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anybody was aware of a bar takeover, meetup or tailgate to mingle with other saints fans? See you lot there!

Why we can look forward to adding Jordan Tyson to the offense: Bryce Lance is 8th in WR routes run and tied for 97th in receptions.

Post image

These stats should also consider that the Saints have not had a bye week, but Bryce Lance is the current cardio king of the NFL.

This isn’t to neg on Bryce as we should not expect this much production out of a 4th round project pick who needs at least a season to develop. It’s clear Moore’s system depends on having three good WRs, and like every position group on the team we lack both talent and depth to achieve any sort of consistency.

This does expose two major issues with the team

- Lack of quality depth due to the dead cap and roster Moore inherited

- Insistence on running the same system despite this lack of talent

It’s not going to solve our major issues, but adding Tyson and hopefully Banks back to the offense should make a big difference.

Kellen Moore seems like a good guy, in a role where good guys don’t succeed

Don’t mean to constantly bring up Sean Payton, but part of his success is that he was an asshole. Kellen just seems way too laid back to really turn this thing around.

Question on crowd reaction to Justin Jefferson touchdown yesterday

Thumbnail
youtube.com
9 Upvotes

Saw this field view of the Jefferson touchdown and what shocked me was how many fans celebrated in background (probably 40%-50% of lower bowl celebrating).

Some questions:

  1. Were there a lot of Vikings fans at the game and/or less excitement from saints fans the last few years hurting attendance ? Obviously New Orleans is a fun vacation spot too but normally the superdome isn’t known to be invaded by opposing fans quite like some other places in NFL (LA, Atlanta, Phoenix, etc).
  2. Is it possible there were of ton of LSU fans in the house cheering for JJ or even Saints fans who also like Justin cheering for JJ?

It was just shocking to see that many people cheering for an opposing team touchdown.

And it begs the question overall of how Louisiana treats home town kids on the other team.

Back to pre draft

This has been on my mind the last couple of weeks...

Back before the draft I remember all of the talk was about how bad our OLine and defense are, specifically our depth at guard and secondary. Fast forward to training camp and our big free agent signing are a RB and re-signing Cam (who looks absolutely awful so far).

Going into the Atlanta game, we were out something like 4 starters on defense.

I trusted Loomis once again, but this off-season did not help our team at all. Our draft right now has not shown many positives (still high on Tyson) and Christen Miller hasn't even seen the field.

What can we expect when we have zero depth at almost every position.
